"Everything about our visit to the Ship Tavern was spot on. Our server was cordial and friendly and the Ribeye was absolutely spot on. Everyone had a great time and I would highly recommend visiting the Ship Tavern for a special occasion or romantic evening."

"We have eaten here many times over many years. Their Prime Rib has been a favorite of ours. This time the food just wasn't up to "Snuff". The Prime Rib was tasty; but very tough. I had a hard time cutting it even with the serrated knife. I mentioned it to my husband and he said his was a little tough as well. We ordered the Apple Strudel for dessert; and while the apples tasted good, the pastry was thick and hard. It should be flaky"

"Everything was excellent, however, the Open-Faced Prime Rib Sandwich was not good at all. Mine was undercooked as was my daughter's, in addition it was tough and fatty...."

"Lunch a bit over priced for what you get. I don't mind paying more for food that stands out, but frankly I could get what I ordered somewhere else for considerably less."

"The serving size compared with other 5280 Restaurants was unexpected. The Prime Rib and the Trout were enormous. We also enjoyed the single trays of desert which was also unexpected, we didn't have to share, we each had all of the goodies they offered."

"Exceptional service by a staff that is truly committed to make your visit memerable. The food on the $52.80 was of the hishest grade in taste, preperation and presentation. The only negative is the noise level. Granted, it is a tavern and the noise is to be epected"

"Reservations were too early for the 5280 menu - which was what we were going for.The res. was booked for 5280 through Open table but the site did not specify times for 5280 menu. This should be added to the website in future years. All that being said our experience was satisying - food was good - and the overall experience enjoyable."

"The food was good; the service very good and accommodating. The whole eating out experience was fun! We'd never been there before and were anxious to try the restaurant. It was more of a "tavern" than a fancy restaurant but that didn't detract from our having a good time. Some of the bar patrons were a little noisy at first and that made for a difficult time to talk at the table but it got better. Glad we tried it and we might drop in again for a meal when we are in the area."

"The food was very disappointing, and a major decline since our last visit some time ago. The service on the other hand, was outstanding. However, I will not rush back."

"The ambiance is great... nautical with cool ship models everywhere. Food? Expensive, but not too much for a hotel restaurant. Excellent sweet potato fries -- I don't normally like anything with sweet potatoes in it, & I loved these. We ordered burgers -- a mistake: burgers are better almost anywhere else in the Denver area. There was a lack of attention to detail in the kitchen. They mixed up the side orders. My burger was ordered medium, cooked well done (dry), & the banal sesame seed bun inedibly stale. The other burgers were cooked to order & the buns not stale, but nothing special. Lettuce: an iceberg slab with slightly brown edges. Fruit: strawberries with bad spots, tasteless melon, & grapes (grapes were good)."

"This was our first experience at the Ship Tavern, although we have lived in the Denver area for six years...... just don't get downtown that often. On this occasion, we had friends in from Missouri and wanted to do something special for lunch before touring the Mint. #njoyed it very much, and will include lunch or dinner at the Ship Tavern on special occasions in the future. Food and service were excellent, and the price was reasonable. Spent sometime walking around the hotel. My wife serves as a docent at the Govenor's Mansion, and learned about the history of the Tavern and hotel as part of her training."

"Delicious as always! Great old Denver atmosphere, staff can be a little slow due to crowded space and lots of tables but wait for it, they are friendly and usually attentive to your needs. The prime rib is usually perfect and the hand cut chips are one of my favourites! Spend some time, kick back and enjoy your time there, it's an old Denver institution!"

"The Ship's Tavern is the Brown Palace's bar and comfort food cafe. A traditional menu of prime rib, steak, burgers, salmon, fish & chips. If it's low-cal or high-fiber you need, forget the Tavern. But if you need one of the traditional favorites, in paneled surroundings with a nautical theme, this is the place. On top of that, it features live piano accompaniment. The only thing modern about the place is the pianist's iPad as his sheet music! It had been a few ages since prime rib, so we were game. One-inch thick slices were delivered au jus, with very buttery mashed (not whipped) potatoes, and green beans. Yum! I ate the whole thing. My friend saved some for Sunday afternoon. Reasonably priced, and parking was free with validation."

"Food was good but one person in our group wanted their burger pink. The waiter said that would take an extra 20 minutes, which everyone agreed was OK.
HOWEVER, as our waiter continued to put bread on everyone else's table, he some how managed to continue to ignore our table. Good environment and good food, but bad service will have me making reservations at a different location next time."

"Food was average and not worth the price. Servicec was slow. Had to wait at the host stand for about 5 minutes beforee Anyone helped us and this was at 5:15, not exactly during dinner rush.
I was disappointed with our experience. Not sure I would return."
