The Washington House
The seven story tower of The Washington House Restaurant has been a landmark for over 100 years in the town of Sellersville, Buck's County, Pa. Today it continues to represent warm hospitality & convivial good times. Rescued & lovingly restored in the 1980's by proprietors William Quigley & Elayne Brick, the restaurant is well known for it's thoughtful service & inventive American cuisine. With four intimate dining rooms, a pre-prohibition period bar & a patio for fair weather months, it offers a romantic atmosphere of relaxed elegance. Patrons especially enjoy the carefully chosen wine & beer lists & a year round calendar of events including beer & wine tastings, specialty food nights & seasonal menus.

"We have been going to the Washington House for close to 20 years.I don't believe I have ever had a bad meal there.There has been a few minor issues with service but this is one of our go to places for special occasions or to show off the local restaurant quality.They are always trying new things to keep the dining experience fresh.No request seems to be an issue.I believe they could be rated one of the finest restaurants in the southeast part of Pennsylvania."

"I ordered the European crusted chicken. My husband ordered the salmon in phyllo. Both were excellent and beautifully presented. Really mouth-watering! My husband also ordered a very tasty ginger beer called Crabbies. We ordered the flourless chocolate torte to share for dessert. It was creamy and delicious. A great place to celebrate our anniversary!"

"This is a quiet, historically interesting restaurant in an old hotel, nicely decorated in period style, yet casual. The bar was lively and friendly. Our waitress was the ideal combination of efficient and pleasant, and the service could not have been better. Our dinner was well prepared, with fresh. This was our first visit and we will be back. Great spot for before or after a show next door at the Sellersville Theater."

"Washington House is the very best option for anyone with tickets to an event at the Sellersville Theater next door. The seasonal menu is a good bargin with an above average selection of daft and bottled beer. Mixed drinks are small for the price tough. There are nightly specials and large sandwiches from the lunch menu available at dinner. Wait staff is very attentive and the kitchen is quick. Events at the theater next door almost never start on time and the place is very laid back. A small group could probably have a dinner reservation as late as 7:00 pm and still be seated next door before the lights go down."

"Our anniversary fell on a warm, pleasant Wednesday evening and while most of the dinners decided to eat outdoors, we opted for air conditioned comfort. We ended up with the place all to ourselves. The food and service were outstanding. All in all, it was a most memorable anniversary dinner. Washington House just might be an anniversary tradition for us. We certainly will return next year (if not sooner)."

"Food was excellent. Waitress had a few issues. She didn't know the menu as well as I thought she should have. She didn't even realize that when I had my iced tea refilled, she refilled my 1/2 glass of WATER with iced tea. They weren't even the same size glass! Although those miscues, it was still a very enjoyable night with my family!"

"We returned to the Washington House after our relocation. Tomato/Mozzarella/ Arugula salad was excellent. Crispy Idaho Trout was an ample fish portion, sauteed perfectly and served over wild rice. The side of green beans was served al dente and nearly cold as a result. Caesar salad was heavy on the anchovy paste, rather unbalanced. The twin filets, requested as medium, no red were returned to the kitchen for additional heat. We've had much better meals here and expeced better when spending $86.00. We'll go back, but probably not on Saturday night when the kitchen is busy."

"My first impression was good, the outdoor dining area was inviting and we sat outside. Our table was at the far,my seat had an unfortunate view of the back working area that was so distracting that I switched my seat. Our waitress took our drink order promptly, my boyfriend's beer came in a small stem glass and was good but there wasn't much of it. The mussels appetizer was fine; and my fresh mozzarella and arugula salad was very attractive and enjoyable. It took a while for our entrees to arrive. I had the veal special which was ok but the pasta portion of it was rather dry, I had to ask for more sauce. The garlic mashed potatoes with ramps had no ramps and the portion was tiny. Overall, it was ok but not worth the price."

"Had a couple of HeyDay's white Belgium ales on the patio in the sun. Great beer for a spring afternoon. Very good Calimari and the Coriander and Pepper crusted pork tenderloin was fantastic. The Marsala demi-glace was to die for. The service from the bar to the patio to the table was very good and seamless. Got to say Hello to Mato Naji and his band Indigenous as they ate at the WH before the concert. It was a great time and we will recommend it to our friends and we will be back soon. THANKS"

"Our first visit to Washington House met all our expectations based on feedback from friends and the Open Table website. As predicted, it is very energetic up until show time next door, but becomes quiet and cozy when the theater crowd leaves about 7:30 PM. We chose the veal and salmon entrees and again we were very pleased. The service was great too; we were seated promptly at the time of our reservation and our waitress was very friendly and attentive through the entire dining experience."

"The Washington House is a great restaurant to have a quality meal pre or post concert at the Sellersville Theater. We do not live nearby, however, the Washington House is a place I would take a drive to for dinner. The menu is seasonal with ingredients from local farms. The food and presentation is wonderful. Our recent visit had us making "yummy" noises all during each course. Mid to higher price range for dinner. Good beer and wine selection also. Highly recommende and I wish it were closer to us!"

"Our Friday night dinner was wonderful at the Washington House. From the first steps in the door they were very accomodating. They had a microbrew night so we had a nice tasting before dinner. Appetizers were expensive ($6 for soup) but tasty. Dinner menu is not bad a bit limited but the specials help with that. We both had specials and they were both very good. Just enough food for the money though. Any less and we would have been hungry. Dessert was also good not very creative but more traditional desserts. Alll in all a good meal.
Our total bill was over $110 with tip."

"Whenever we go to the Sellersville Theater to see a show, we stop next door at the Washingtotn House for a great meal. Then we can just saunter 20 yards to the theater next door ! The food and service are great, and they get you to the show on time. A little pricey, but worth it."

"A great restaurant in an old hotel. Love it! Food and service is great. It's also a great spot to have dinner before seeing a show at the Sellersville Theater 1894 which is right next door, or to get a cocktail and snack after seeing a show."

"The food, the dining room and the service was very good and since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary it seemed like the perfect place. However there was a VERY LOUD large party in the dining room next to us which threatened to ruin our dinner. We asked the waitress to close the pocket doors behind us to lessen the noise which she did and saved our evening... ps. try the bread pudding, yummy!"

"Prices were high. Food was average. We waited quite a while for our dinner to arrive. The air conditioning was turned off and we were uncomfortably warm. They did turn it on after we complained. Very noisy atmosphere. It was difficult to have a normal conversation. Of course, it was Saturday night and the restaurant was full, but would not recommend."

"This was our first time here as we were headed over to the Sellersville Theater for a show. Everything was really good! It was a bit pricey (a la carte) but it was a date night out! My dinner was delicious, from the salad,the twin filet (cooked perfectly) and bourbon pecan pie! The waitress was new but couldn't have been any nicer or more helpful. Definitely will be back, just wish we lived closer. When we do go again, I think we'll sit outside!"

"We have often used Washington House in the past few years. Always satisfied with the food and the service. We also use Washington House for a birthday celebration which turned out to be a memorable occasion. The menu satisfied everyone and the service was more than adequate. "Excellent! The only issue we had was, we were attending a concert following dinner and told our waitress our schedule prior to ordering. However, they still cut it too close. We had to skip coffee and desert. I believe this was due to a full dining crowd.
This is one of our favorite spots, for dinner."
