"I have been to Angelo Maxies a number of times. This is because it is so good. It is great for two people, but I think the groups are even better. There are so many options to try, you can just order everything and have a tasting on the table. Their wait service is second to none. No sooner was a glass of wine spilled on my cuff, was there our waitress with a napkin and club soda. To top it off, I was given a new glass of wine."

"I am a huge meat eater. A real snob when it comes to steak. This by far: hands down-- was the best Filet I have had in NYC. Better than Peter Lugers. The prices are reasonalbe and their portions are Flinstone size. The bernaise is fantastic on any cut of beef there. Totally under rated. The atmosphere is fun and supper club like, the chatter and the music adds to a great atmosphere. One really feels like they are out on the town in a out of the town city such as NY."

"A great place to experience during Restaurant Week. This was the second time coming here for lunch and enjoyed the filet mignon. The salad that the entree came with was really good. It was almost too large for lunch and topped with all kinds of good things.

The steak itself was a great cut of meat. I wish I had done the simply grilled variation, which my friend enjoyed. I ordered the version that was covered in pepper - it was a little too much for me. I also would have enjoyed it more if it was a little more done in the center. I did order medium rare, but so many restaurants cook a steak more medium than rare. Angelo & Maxie's was more on the rare side. My friend ordered medium and it was perfect.

Really a tasty lunch!"

"I participated in the restaurants week special promo. I was seated promptly and even though there was a draft coming from the door I was ery comfrotable. My waitress was very prompt and courteous with her service. She even offered me some great reccomendations on the food and wine. I also noticed that the wait staff worked very well together, helping with eachother's tables. I was very please to see theis kind of team work.

The only complaint I have is that the baked potato they served with the lunch special was hard, cold and very plain.

I would sum my visit up as pleasurable"

"We were early but seated immediately, as soon as we sat down someone was there with a basket of bread and some butter. The bartender stopped by to see if anyone had taken our drink order, then the server showed up to ask if we wanted to start with a drink. When I told her we were probably going to stick with the 'Restaurant Week' menu, she smiled and nodded and said, 'It's a great deal.' No pressure to order more, she did tell us the specials though. The food was good, no skimping on portion size, steak cooked to perfection. Other wait staff was by frequently to take our used dishes and brush crumbs off the table. Marbled cheesecake with raspberry sauce was divine."

"I've walked by this restaurant for years, and decided to take a friend on the spur of the moment. It is clearly a men's steak house, and not where you would go for a romantic evening. The food was OK, not great, the wine list is mediocre (and very over-priced), the presentation was as expected (nothing special), and the service was spotty and a bit on the slow side. Overal, it's a good neighborhood steak joint, but certainly not anything to rave about to your friends."

"A friend had recommended this restaurant to me. The drinks were generous and the portions were big. You will not leave this restaurant feeling hungry. The service was great as well. Only disappointment was we were 15 minutes late due to traffic and my inability to find a parking garage that was not full (perhaps because it was Valentine's Day) - so they had given away our requested and confirmed booth and we had to sit in the more crowded table area. Will definitely go back."

"I chose this place because of it's participation in resturaunt week. The $35/ person fixed menu had a catch that meant you would get your steak without any sides. All the sides were another $10-$15 each. The food was OK and overall service was just OK. "I went one a snowy day, so it was really quiet (only 3-4 tables occupied) and I think I didn't get the full experience of this restaurant. I got the restaurant week lunch menu. The Angelo's Caesar Salad was a bit too salty. The split pea (soup of the day) was a bit bitter for me. The steak was good and the portion is big. I also thought it was a bit salty by the time I finished it. The fruits were sour. I would recommend you get their cheesecake over the fruits for dessert. Service was decent. Overall, my first impression is that I'm not impressed. Maybe I'll try them again in the future."

"My friends and I went here for Restaurant Week. The food was very good. They gave you very nice portions and the service was outstanding. The only reason I did not give an outstanding on the food was that the cheesecake was disappointing. It was not light and creamy like other places I have had. "i've been going to angelo & maxie's since they've opened, and it's always been consistentlly great, but i must say this one and only time i was a little disappointed, perhaps because it was restaurant week, of which i totatlly forgot i wouldn't have gone. although we didn't partake in it, the steak was not as ordered (normally is) and it wasn't so great (normally is). i will give it another try on another day other then a day that falls during restaurant week."

"Great food - The waitress knew how the Chef undercooks the steaks and advised us how to order. They came out perfect.

This is the first place that I felt the Restaurant Week Menu was exactly the same as their menu, including portion size. They were very flexible with the deserts, even had a fruit alternative.

I'm definitely going back!"

"Fabulous value for Restaurant Week, but tables are typical NYC that they're a bit close together. We suffered through a rather loud discussion next to us of two salesmen/MBA types self congratulating themselves on their cleverness and talking loudly about their coworkers, their bosses, and who they liked/disliked. Typical steakhouse fare, steaks were good size -- and during restaurant week -- good value. They'll get you in and out of there within an hour if you let them, and tends to fill up drastically after 7:30 pm, given proximity to Union Square."

"Had such a nice evening last night for Winter Restaurant Week. I had the French Onion Soup - Delicious and my friend had Caeser Salad, which was also good.
I had the Sirloin, cooked Med (the server said they cook on the rare side) and it was cooked perfectly red in the center, more MR, which I prefer.
The only draw back was that you are right on top of your neighbor while dining. The couple next to us was boring so they listened to us the whole night.
Overall, food was terrific and server was good."

"We picked a good nigh and the place was not too crowded which was nice. The steaks were good as were the huge iceberg wedges - however, everything else was not great. The fish dishes were not good and the hamburger was sub par at best. The service was great. "We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Angelo and Maxie's on December 30, 2009 during our post-holiday trip to NYC. Our party included 5 adults. The steaks were fantastic, the french fry/onion strings appetizer platter we had before dinner was hot and delicious! This was our third trip to the restaurant and each time was a great experience. "I was with a large group on New Year's Eve and, having eaten here several times and most recently 2 weeks ago, it was obvious that they were just mass producing dinner this time around...it was not nearly the same quality it usually is. Not terrible but not outstanding. That being said their prix fixe options for large groups is a great deal. Our waitress was very attentitive and was ready with beer and wine as soon as she saw someone running low (admittedly I thought they would drag their feet due to the prix fixe but it was quite the opposite). One major issue I had is we added an additional 13% tip on top of the 20% automatically added and our waitress didn't have the courtesy to thank us...the whole group was offended at the rudeness."

"The place was bustling - and our server was great. The food, however, was just fair: one surf and turf (lobster tail and filet mignon) and one ribeye. Both were not great pieces of meat - they ribeye was gristly and chewy, the filet was mushy - and the lobster tail was dry. I would not return. We went because we'd heard the portions were huge and the value excellent. Our view was that the portions were generous but the food was just OK. Sauteed onions were awful and creamed spinach was the best part of the meal. Caesar salad was not bad and enormous. Stuffed portobellos were tasty. With tip, the meal cost $160.00 for two and we had no drinks or dessert. For me, $80 for steak salad and sides is not a terrific value."

"The filet mignon with bernaise sauce is delicious, the wait staff is always attentive and the hosts are always accommodating. In short, Angelo & Maxie's is one of my favorite restaurants in the City. Add to that the large size apple martinis and what more could you want. "I love Angelo and Maxie's, the food is spot on and the martinis are delicious. My boyfriend & I went for our anniversary. Great table, service was excellent & when we ordered our dessert they surprised us with a candle on it. We had an awesome view of the restaurant in a cozy corner booth. The blackened rib eye my boyfriend selected was like butter melting in your mouth. My New York Strip was a bit tough surprisely. I love my steaks medium rare.We love to drink, eat & talk so we don't like to be rushed. It was brought to our attention that it was a peak time " holiday parties" for them so they had plenty of folks waiting to be seated. I guess two & half hours was a bit long to enjoy a meal. I would definitely go again, not during peak time."

"This is definitely a loud, mostly guy's place (although most steakhouses are). Sat at a booth. Table was too large. Seats were too low. Uncomfortable. Noise level is awful and the music system doesn't help. The place feels like a saloon but the prices don't. There are better steakhouse (much better) so I won't be back. Service was very good, though. If you're looking for a lively dinner place in Gramercy, this one will do."

"Overall a good experience. We did the porterhouse for two. We ordered it medium rare and it came rare, but very high quality. The music was very odd and did not fit. Tables were on top of eachother. Prices were very reasonable. I think think the porterhouse was around $33 per person and sides were around $10. Waitstaff was attentive. Overall positive experience."

"It was lovely. I brought my fiance for his birthday (we came last year too). The food was great and our server, Danae, was excellent! we eat out a lot and our experience at Angelo & maxie's is one of the best. "We had a great time at Angelo and Maxie's. I took my staff for a holiday dinner. Most of the crew had not been to a high end steak place before and felt a little intimidated. The waiter was patient and helpful and make very useful suggestions on ordering that gave us a nice table full of food. The steak and lobsters were well prepared and the service was attentive throughout the night. Make sure to get the tomato and onion salad. The bleu chesse dressing is out of this world."
