At the Living Room, we identify the freshest and most naturally produced foods, creating world-class menu selections from what can be purchased through local, organic producers. This is the slow-food philosophy at work, and we believe it makes for the best-tasting meals in the Hamptons.
Our chef uses the slow-food process to "cook with the seasons", coming up with mouth-watering menus of cuisine he calls "new American with a Scandinavian twist". Signature dishes include Scandinavian classics like Toast Skagen and exquisite desserts like Spring Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp with homemade honey vanilla gelato and Catapano Goat Cheese Tarte with homemade lingonberry sorbet.
To complement, you can choose from more than 200 vintages from our extensive wine cellar. From local Long Island varietals to organic Oregonian boutique blends and standards from Europe, there is a wine for every mood and food at The Living Room.
"We were there in the "off season" so I don't know how lively it gets in the summer. The restaurant and bar area are very pretty! The portions are big (the meatballs are great - I think I got through half of them). The restaurant is Swedish and holds true to Swedish recipes. We really enjoyed our evening."

"We were in the cozy room which was more or a leisure room with tables scattered around and more quiet than restaurant room which was what we asked for. Service was quite slow though."

"From food to freshness, to fine wine and finesse, to friendliness and fondness, to fabulous and fantastic.... The Living Room at the Maidstone is the perfect Hamptons spot for fine dining and and evening to remember. Dine at the bar or the surrounding tables by the fireplace. Or take your experience into the beautiful dining room fit for all occasions or dine with romance and privacy in one of the off the lobby Livingroom settings. At any location, the food, the staff and the ambiance of this great Hamptons find is a must do experience..."

"A truly unique menu of Swedish delights. A trip to Stockholm without SAS. Lovely surroundings, attentive service and an all around pleasurable dining experience!"

"It was Restaurant Week and it showed. Menu was the usual offerings -- salmon, chicken or Swedish meatballs (the only unusual entree). Disappointing, since we have had many enjoyable dinners here over the past years, both during restaurant week or not. We've even hosted a private party there. Food was tepid, bread stale, the gravlax served consisted of three small finger slices with two pickled baby carrots. The mango dessert sounded wonderful--grilled half mango with vanilla and raspberry ice creams. However, the mango was so unripe that a knife couldn't cut it. The waitress said, "Sorry" and walked away. We' re sorry, because we always loved this rare "grown up" restaurant in the Hamptons."

"As always the food is very refined, beautifully presented and flavorful. It is very expensive for our budget but we eat here during Hamptons restaurant week always and on special occasions. Among the the best dining in the Hamptons!"

"It was Restaurant Week and their offerings were boring and miniscule. It had been one of my favorite places. Was it the change in chef? Or that the owner was abroad? I cancelled the second reservation."

"Usually give it more stars, new hostess seemed under-prepared but likely getting ready for season, but most in service industry should at least know how to set a table. Went early, too many children for my taste, but again I chose the early time. Overall my favorite in East Hampton, just hope it keeps up it generally TOP service, down a star this time."

"Food quality has changed, as have the portion sizes; Not as it used to be.Very limited menu;If you don't eat fish, it is extremely limited. Best part was dessert! I found the prices to be extraordinarily high for the portion sizes and what they were serving...Not looking forward to returning."

"We were there during the last summer and had excellent experience. This time around, during the Presidents weekend, the service was awful: first we couldn't get bread, our waiter has never inquired if we needed anything during the meal and didn't ask if we liked it. We felt completely neglected. There were plenty of waiters and not so many diners, but the service was chaotic to say the least. The food was mediocre. Meat balls, the signature dish, was too salty and the rest of the meal was equally uninspiring. Very, very disappointed."

"We had a wonderful dinner here. The food was top notch. The only complaint we had is that the menu is somewhat limited. I felt I had to settle for my choice of appetizer. We went with a picky eater and she had a hard time, also. Not a lot of choices if you are a picky eater. Once you eliminate lamb, liver, gravlax, herring, caviar, sweetbread, and the likes, there's not much left. But, what we got was excellent. The tableware is gorgeous.....beautiful plates and glasses. The service was friendly and spot on."

"The living room is the perfect combination of comfortable and formal. The staff are wonderful. You can have as much or as little interaction as you like. The food is top class and the wine list is excellent. It was a great experience."
