Americano
Original Great Lakes Bistro means good, honest food, combining classic European cooking techniques with the best locally available ingredients. Americano offers a relaxed atmosphere in a resurrected French dining room located within the confines of a spectacular lake front gated community. An intriguing wine cellar, rotating selection of American craft brewed ales, and creative cocktails are available in our dining room, cozy bar, and our spacious lounge. The restaurant features expansive picture windows that frame the lovely grounds of Bratenahl Place.

"We dine at Americano frequently. We consider this one of the best restaurants in the Cleveland area. The food is always fresh, fabulous and consistent. Unlike many restaurants which have both uneven food and service...sometimes greats, sometimes horrible, Americano offers CONSISTENTLY wonderful and creative food, from appetizers through dessert, and great service as well on a regular basis. Great wine by the glass selections as well. All of this in an "old-school" atmosphere of beauty in Bratenahl Place on Lake Erie. Beautiful sunset views over Lake Erie if you feel like a very short walk to the building on the lake side after dinner."

"We started off with salads you can only dream of making at home. My wife ordered ceasar and I the mixed greens top with spiced walnuts, strawberries, blue cheese and drizzled with a delightful vinaigrette. I had the bone in ribeye, it was cook and seasoned to perfection, accompanied with wild mushroom rosoto. my wife had a Filet with mashers.
The menu offered so many great affordable choices we already planned our next visit.
The overall experience was excellent, the food, service, and atmosphere was world class."

"Small restaurant with a limited yet delicious menu. We were seated promptly, our waitress was quick to come over to take drink orders and go over specials, and food arrived at a reasonable pace. The only reason service got 4 stars was because as the restaurant became more busy our waitress didn't return but rather another waitress went over dessert menu for us. Would definitely recommend!"

"The food did not knock my socks off but it was very good. The dates were very interesting and good. The calamari was cooked perfectly. The mussels, however, were underwhelming in terms of flavor. Two people in our party ordered the 14 oz. strip steak which was just mediocre (and over priced at $36). I ordered the short ribs which were awesome - probably the best thing all evening.
Overall I liked this place but I don't see what all the hype is about. I would go back with a coupon or if I was in the area for something. Service was great, though. Everyone was very friendly."

2) My wife likes beer and why they bring and set a can on the table in a white tablecloth restaurant is a real head scratcher. You would think the server would pour and serve in a glass at least.
It can't be that bad as we've gone back 4 or 5 times but it just seems odd."

The cornmeal coated fried oysters were still soft and moist inside, crunchy outside, WOW! My steak and my wife's salmon entree were large, tasty, and perfectly prepared.
The shortcake and berry dessert was a fitting end to a wonderful meal. Can't wait to visit again. This has become our favorite Cleveland eating spot."

Server was way off when we simply asked split the bill 5 ways since we had aps and desert that we all shared and we ended up with different amounts so he had to do it all over again. He also came and asked if everything was ok once when the owner and even the chef came out along with other servers, very disappointing when he is the one you think of to determine the tip. Will go back though food very good."

"Brigett' our service was most attentive but not obtrusive. She had great suggestions but also listened to what we were thinking to make our evening special. It was a celebration of two birthdays. We just wanted to relax and have a great meal which was excellent from the crab cakes thru the pork chop with sweet potato waffles au pomagranete syrup and apple slaw with creme brulee to finish it off. Margree had the duck which was also excellent. Their dinningroom isn't open on Mondays but a limited menu is available at the bar and includes their special pasta with huge meatballs (just the way I always make them). Definately will be back!! Any occassion will be special!"

"We went on a Saturday night when I-90 was closed due to an accident so we had to weave our way through some terrible neighborhoods which was less than pleasant. We used a TravelZoo voucher for dinner for 2. We had three waiters/waitresses, yet still could not get our water glasses refilled. They also did not ask if we wanted anything other than what was offered in the deal.

"OUTSTANDING! We were greeted promptly upon arriving and offered coat service. Our waiter was prompt and was very knowledgeable about the menu - he offered nice suggestions and was attentive. Then there was the food - sooooo good. We had bacon wrapped dates (unbelievably delicious) and mussels for appetizers. Entrees - equally awesome - were lamb chops and bone-in pork chop. Beer and wine menu had very nice additions to the usual imports. Cheesecake dessert very delicious - enough for two. A very relaxing dinner, as they did not push us out to turn the table. Upon leaving, we were met by Cole Davis, one of the owners, to ask about our dining experience. This is a very classy place, great owners, and even greater food."

"Took an out of town guest to the Americano last night and had a wonderful evening. This was our first visit here and we will be going back again soon for the great food, atmosphere and service. Each one of us selected a different meal, and shared the delicious calamari with our cocktails. The soup was a split pea/kale/potato soup and was a perfect choice for the cold wintry night. Our guest requested that we bring her here again."

"Enjoyed the food. Had Beet Waldorf salad and hanger steak. Nice place. Owner checked in that eveything was good. Wait staff need some polishing hence the 4 stars. Wait staff never introduced themselves, it was unclear who our waiter was for quite a while. Once we realised we had a young man he was pleasant and attentive then we were waited on by a young lady for desserts. Need consistant wait staff an better communication. Would certainly go back."

"This was a great dining experience and we are planning to return soon. My husband and I enjoyed our meals and the service was excellent.

"My Fiance and I went on Feb 14, 2013. We had a wonderful night. The drinks were deliciously strong, and we both ordered the duck which was paired with spinach and sweet potato hash, and a potato cake. The duck was phenomenal, juicy tender and just amazing. Our waitress was great and helpful, the whole staff kept checking on how we were doing from the manger to the bust staff. I loved this place, and will be returning."
