Lincoln Park's neighborhood gem! A modern yet cozy bistro, Gemini Bistro features approachable, contemporary American cuisine with French and Mediterranean touches. Chef Jason Paskewitz and partner Ryan O'Donnell are at the helm of this acclaimed neighborhood restaurant, named one of Chicago Magazine's "Best New Restaurants" of 2009, awarded 3 Stars from Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel, and most recently the recipient of the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction. Located in a classic flatiron building built in 1919, the surroundings offer a stylish, relaxing environment with dark hardwood floors, tweed and leather booths, oversized drum lighting and turn-of-the-century reproduction Edison bulbs. "I requested outdoor dining and something a little bit special because it was my boyfriends and I first dinner together. The hosts didnt even bother to let me know that we couldnt sit outside. No acknowledgement to our special occasion and when they said they had a booth all set up for us, there was still a book from the last people on the table. It wasnt set up for us at all, two people trying to spend a romantic evening together and four place settings/a check book. The service was good, but all we did was split a crab cake/salad/bottle of wine because we were disappointed about how everything fell into place. For 90$ including tip I would rather go to a restaurant where we can enjoy ourselves and actually eat."

"The food as usual was excellent. However, we were very disappointed with the french fries. They tasted like they were made from formed potato dust and fried. We love fries but we left 90% of Gemini's on the plate."

chocolate cake dry on the edges but peanut sorbet along with it was good
4 people, 2 glasses of wine, 2 cups of tea, 4 apps, 4 small plates, 2 desserts, $160 before tip. Too ordinary and noisy for the money, not recommended for people who care about food"

"Mostly everything was pretty good. The short rib ravioli and the beef carpachio was my favorite. Could have done without the risotto...had too much mint flavor to it. Cocktails were very good. I thought overall everything was a bit over priced. While everything was really good, still not the best of anything I've ever had to warrent the type of bill it did. Service was great. Would come back for a special occasion or maybe for lunch."

"It's a good place to "share" & try a variety of food. The small plate, big plate idea is fun. Salads are good for 2 people to share.

"Excellent food and service. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Probably the best Short Rib ravioli I've ever had. Unfortunately, the noise level made it difficult to hear. There were only four of us sitting at a booth and we had to talk loudly to hear each other on the other side of the table. Although the food was wonderful, I probably won't go back because of the noise level. Nothing against the restaurant; I just prefer to have a quiter atmosphere."

"Nice place, very busy on a Saturday night, food was good. Service was middling at best, we were seated 30 minutes after our reservation, they should have picked up our drinks at the bar. After we sat down it was 30 minutes before appetizers arrived and another 45 minutes before entrees arrived (even though the restaurant was mostly empty by then) and we had to leave to avoid a ticked off babysitter so had them boxed up. They took the entrees off our bill, which helped a bit, but not exactly a great experience."

Jumped in a cab, and had another wonderful, romantic, delicious dinner.

"A group of went to celebrate a birthday and to take part in Chicago Chef's week. 2 out of 5 went with the fixed menu while the rest saw other amazing things on the menu we had to try. The food was outstanding. The server helped pair a perfect wine with dinner. If there was a separate rating for bartender/drinks/mixology this place would get a 6 our of 5 stars! Highlights of the group's night included a cucumber mint gin drink, great martini, the crab cakes, steamed mussels, shortrib ravioli, and the swordfish."

"We had a great dinner at Gemini, and loved the menu set up in "small" "medium" and "large". Two of us ordered a Large each and a side to share. The Butternut Squash Au Gratin is an incredible side, but may be seasonal. Our main courses were the Pork Chop with Butternut Bread Pudding and Brussell Sprout leafs (OMG)...and the Lamb Chops. My hubby felt there should have been 3 Lamb Chops vs 2 and he would have been happier. But all the tastes were really excellent. Our waitress was perfect, showed up at the right times and very knowledgeable."

"Despite the chaos of St. Patrick's Day outside, they had a table waiting for us when we arrived. Food was excellent and they accommodated substitutions and special cooking requests perfectly. Server was excellent, efficient and checked in at appropriate intervals without being overly solicitous. We didn't feel rushed either. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend!"

"Food was very salty. We eat out a lot, and are not averse to salt, but this was ridiculous. Once dish of three we sent back. They redid it with less salt and it was fine. We ate the rest, but frankly could have sent back all three.
What a shame! Good service, presentation of the food is nice, great ambience, in our neighbourhood but far too much salt in several dishes."

"I might have had too high of expectations, as I had been hearing good things about this restaurant for years. Overall the dinner was fine. The service and food was good, but it was a little more expensive than I would expect for a casual neighborhood spot. I would have appreciated a few more menu options, and service that would have allowed for a slower dinner. We were out of there in an hour, despite ordering appetizers, dinner and two drinks each."

"Having eaten at Rustic House, I have been wanting to try Gemini Bistro for a while. I sugggested it to my husband and 2 friends for a Saturday evening out. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who informed us that we would need to wait a few minutes for our reserved table. We headed to the bar (a lively scene in itself) for a cocktail and all was good. The tables turned, however, once we were seated. A bottle of red that we promptly ordered so it could breathe, took about 10 minutes to be delivered and then our waitress explained that no substitutions could be made to the prime rib special (my husband wanted the sauteed spinach rather than the creamed). She continued to damper our evening as she arrived at our table w/ a grimace"

Seems to be a hot spot with the locals. The lamb chops were amazing and my son really enjoyed his steak. Staff were warm and attentive. We will definitely return when we visit Chicago again. "We went here for restaurant week, but were so enticed by the normal menu items that none of us went with the prix fix menu. I enjoyed a delicious plate of mussels and very light, interesting winter salad for less than what I would have spent had I gotten the prix fix deal! Our waiter was wonderful, the ambiance was perfect for a group dinner and we will be sure to come here again soon!"
