"Watch out: This place closes at 9 pm most days. Nobody mentioned that when we ordered a second (USD 135) bottle of wine at 8.30 and were rushed to drink it soon after. Our plan was to sit and enjoy instead of hearing to leave asap."

"I can't remember poorer service than I had Friday night at Mediterraneo. Our waitress was very nice but either she and her fellow wait staff were overworked or incompetent. It took forever to place our orders, multiple requests to get more bread (like 4X multiple) and at least a half hour to get our dinner served. One person at our table had a filet, which was tender, generously cut and well prepared. My wife had braised short ribs and she raved about her meal. I ordered the ribeye and it was a $38 waste -- about 1/2" thick, tough as leather and tasteless. What a shame."

"Three of us spent about 3 hrs. at Holdren's last night enjoying each other's company, the drinks, and the food . . . it was all lovely. I have to say that a big part of why it was so enjoyable was the service . . . really, really, good! Our server was there at all of the right times, it was just perfect. And we can probably all agree that good service is very often non-existent in a dining establishment. One of us had the rack of lamb, one had a shrimp/steak combo, and one had the Chilean sea bass special. We shared one delicious shrimp appetizer and a dessert sampler. Everything was very, very good. It's a very noisy place, but sitting in a booth buffered some of the noise. Will definitely return."

"We found this place on my Open Table app as we were driving along. It is a beautiful stone restaurant in a lovely setting. We sat out on the front patio, and we were the only ones out there. But the waiter was most attentive, and the food was delicious. I only wish that it were located closer to where we live."

"After we were seated it took quite awhile for someone to acknowledge our presense. Thereafter, the service was just as slow. Do not go this restaurant if you want to get out quickly, it will not happen. They were slow to re-fill water glasses, ask if we needed more bread, or for that matter if we needed anything. We did expect this after reading other online reviews.
We did enjoy the atmosphere, sitting outside on the deck was really nice. The food was very good. It's just too bad they can't figure out how to train their waiters and waitresses and provide some decent service."

"We used opentable to make our reservations for a birthday dinner. The food was good. The service was not exceptional as we are used to here. The hostess was great. After ordering we asked for butter and appetizers. They took 15 mins to receive them then another 1/2 hour for our dinner entrees and there were only approx only 5-7 other tables at the time so very low traffic and slow service. Lastly we ended up going to another establishment afterwards because our server failed to read the comments on the reservations for wishing our guest for the birthday visit. We expect more from Mediterraneo and lately it's been suffering with declining service standards and with other choices in Westlake we will limit our visits until we hear its improved"

"I love this restaurant but this visit was disappointing. I was there with my family for a special occasion and we were put in the expansion room, and then kinda forgotten. The server may have been overwhelmed, I'm not sure but we had to keep asking for refills and there was a long wait to order and then get our food.
This isn't what I've ever experienced here, big bummer."

"This is the second time we've been to Mediterraneo and both visits were amazing. We had dinner several months ago and this past weekend I took my wife here for Mothers Day breakfast. The wait staff is amazing, the manager is attentive and the ambience is amazing. They have a water fountain / stream / mini-lake that surrounds the restaurant and it makes for a great view. Have evening dinner with the flames blazing, outdoor heaters when needed and the sound and sight of running water and it makes for a romantic evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant. By the way, Mothers Day morning all the women were given a red rose when seated. A very nice touch."

"We went for Mother's Day, and were seated right at our reservation time. The waiter was very nice, but seemed a bit new at the job. He took our order promptly and had bread/water right away. A good start, but unfortunately never received our appetizer and weren't checked on often for water or bread. Also, the tables were rather squeezed together and I think my chair was hit by every waiter and busboy in the restaurant when they passed by.
The meals were great, the evening lovely and with a bit of fine tuning would be 5 stars. I enjoy outdoor eating but felt like we were getting less than the usually stellar treatment we receive when indoors."

"This was our fourth time at Mediterraneo. My wife and I love the food, and this time, it was no different. However, my wife and were treated like second-class citizens, reminescent of the days of segregation in the South. My wife and were seated on the patio, however, it was a chilly evening and we requested to be moved closer to a heater. Our waiter was very accommodating and allowed us to moved. Five minutes later, we were approached by the maitre'd and told that the restaurant was booked and we could not occupy this table. It must be noted that the patio was half-empty at this time. Needless to say, my wife and I were forced to move inside. We were horrified and embarrassed and feel as though we were discriminated against!"

"We were a group of four adults and were seated with menus for 20 minutes before our waitress even acknowledged our existence. We had to ask the busboy to find our server and for water and bread three times.
We've been going to this restaurant on an off for the last 10 years. It's now officially off the rotation again. The menu has changed and while the food is ok the experience is ruined when you can't find a server.
When the "buzz" over the coffee shop next door wears off they will quickly realize that Mediterraneo has issues.
Suggestion - Get the servers to focus on their tables, greet the seated customers with in two minutes, put water and bread on the tables and if they want to up sell ask if anyone wants a drink."

"The food is good. Although what I did have a hard time swallowing was the $4 valet parking charge that customers are forced to pay even though they have a huge parking lot right there in front of the restaurant. My husband and I met there so we had to shell out $8 total! I've frequented this restaurant for many years and self parking was always available. Its fine if the customer chooses to valet their car but with the lot being just steps from the front door it irks me to be told I must pay for parking when their dining prices are so expensive. Hey, here's a novel idea...why not validate the paying customer's valet ticket!"

"We had lentil soup, caesar salad and taglinetti bolognese - all excellent. Wish they had sustainable seafood (wild caught) though. We'd pass on the carrot cake dessert next time. It was ok but not great. Service was good and the atmosphere is nice. Recommend."

"Have been here many times. This time there is a new, and totally unnecessary valet parking. If there is another reason for this than to make some easy money off the patrons, I don't see it. Also, service was extremely slow...as slow as it gets. Had to wave servers for help."

"My husband and I were still talking about the meal we had at Mediteraneo the next day. I ordered the short ribs with kale and the wedge salad. My husband ordered the rib eye with side of macaroni("the best tasting he's ever had). The food is the star of this place without a doubt. The restaurant decor is lovely with warm lighted candelabras and candle sconces everywhere, dark upholstery and a very romantic, intimate feel. The service is excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and can't wait to come back again."

"We have had dinner a couple of times, and it was enjoyable. But Brunch was terrific.
The service was really incredible, and for the most part, the food was fine. I did not like my particular choice, oatmeal as it came cold. I don't know whether it was because of the people we were with, or the restaurant as a whole, but it was really great and we will absolutely be back!"

"First time here, great ambiance, romantic, & excellent food. Sadly, the service wasnt up to par as I would've expected from this restaurant, especially for the price one pays for the food. Our server seemed attentive at first, but then lacked to continue to offer any add'l services. I didnt understand why service was slow when the restaurant wasnt busy. I had to ask for water (everytime), extra plates, napkins, and what the delay was on our food. I eneded up eating my dinner w/the salad fork & butter knife, which made it difficult to cut my chicken. Manager was made aware of the lack of service, but only aplogized & didnt do anything about it. Perhaps, services would've imporved if there was less socialized between the manager & server."

"Mediterraneo is unique in that often times, restaurants attached to inns and hotels are pretty average or resemble re-packaged coffee shops. Mediterraneo is the exception - and the Westlake Village Inn mirrors that exception. The food here is consistently fresh, unique, creatively presented with excellent service. The patio is a favorite place during the summer and the views are lovely. This is the "go to" spot in our area and you can always count on this restaurant whether for a business lunch or a romantic evening."

"I was excited to go here since it was a 1000 point reservation but we ended up being very disappointed. The food was pretty good - we ordered the wedge, soup, shrimp cocktail and albacore crudo - but a little pricey for appetizers since the bill ended up being $85 including 2 glasses of wine. The really disappointing part is the food took so long to get to us, which is crazy considering nothing took long to cook (if at all!) and it wasn't busy at the restaurant. We ordered a side of carrots and they didn't arrive until the waiter brought us our bill. When I told him we didn't need them since we were clearly done with our meal, he seemed irritated and then he didn't even remove them from the bill!
