Quinn Hatfield's deft touch in the kitchen shines through on his short but dead-on, market-fresh menu. Appetizers are playful: Fabulously fleshy charred octopus is offset by a citrus-candied orange rind, and an updated croque madame features fresh hamachi, along with proscuitto, quail egg and out-of-this-world brioche. Main courses are uniformly excellent, be it juicy pan-roasted seabass, meaty duck breast that eats like a steak, and luscious, mint-crusted rack of lamb. For desserts, Karen Hatfield outdoes herself with the molten-centered house specialty chocolate peanut butter truffle cake, which is worth every decadent calorie its name promises.

"Loved Hatfields! Came for my husband's birthday, and had a great time! Th decor is modern, with brown tufted booths. The place was packed and it certainly didn't sound like it with the high ceiling. The food was IMPECCABLE, absolutely delicious. The meat dishes + vegetarian menu was stunning. Service was spot on. A must try!"

"My husband and I celebrated our 26th Wedding Anniversary with a very memorable dinner at Hatfields. This establishment is wonderful. The service was courteous, attentive and knowledgeable. The decor is open and modern but does not feel cold. The kitchen is visible from most tables. The food is delectible. We both did the prix fix tasting menu. Absolutely fantastic!!!! As Hatfields is on the pricier side...I would recommend for a special occasion, unless of course your bank account dictates otherwise. :o) I will recommend this restaurant to everyone and anyone who will listen! Thank you Hatfields for making our Anniversary especially memorable this year!"

"I had high expectations for this place and I definitely was not disappointed! My friend and I shared 9 different plates and we were impressed by each one. The ingredients really complimented each other and were so full of lively flavors. Among the favorites: octopus app, diver scallop, cuttlefish, ricotta agnolotti, pistacchio nougat semifreddi, and the earl grey milkshake that came with rhe beignets. Hatfield's is now added to my list of top restaurants in Los Angeles!"

"I took some friends out to eat there. Service wasn't that great. We had to ask for things more than once or it took a while to receive them (e.g. more tea; bread; water). Also, the desserts weren't memorable. Had the ice cream and panna cotta When you get your bill, they serve these tough tiny cupcake/brownie with a white stiff icing-like. It's wasn't tasty at all. If anything, it ended my meal with a seal of dissatifaction. I don't think I'll come back here again."

"We had the chef's tasting menu with the wine pairings. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The house special Croque Madame fell a bit short only because the delicate hamachi was overpowered by the other strong flavors in the dish. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and the wine pairings were all very friendly to the food. Given that this is a Michelin starred restaurant my expectations were high going in and they were all met."

"Hatfield's the best dining experience I have had since my first dinner at Bouchon. The dining room was delightful, with an simple, sort of Asianesque decor, open but not noisy. The waiter was the best I have had in a long time, attentive but not intrusive or overbearing. The left the selection of the wine for the lamb chops to him. The restaurant made the dining experience exciting and fun, delivering an nice amuse de bouche after we sat down and little brownies at the end of the meal. It was an anniversary dinner and the waiter brought the champagne with festive note. If wasn't even that expensive, $282 before tip for four full dinners, a round of champagne and the rioja that I had afterward. I heartily recommend it."

"The food does not have the quality that one expects at such an up-scale restaurant such as Hathfields. Dishes are generally poorly seasoned and presented in mess on the plates. The flavours are mostly lacking, but when present they do not combine with other flavours in the dish. The winelist is poor, with a selection that does not complement the food. Really nice ambience and good service. Would go back to try the bar."

"Showed up on-time for an 8:30pm reaervation, asked to wait at the bar for nearly 30 minutes before we were seated. After being seated, I was again disappointed with the "delay" in food service. For example, the amouse bouche (sp) came before we had even ordered our dinner, and the entrees arrived roughly 45 min after our appetizers. Every dish was perfectly delicious and well prepared; great service, and vibrant restaurant. Just need to get their timing down considerably."

"I ordered a pinot and the waiter decanted it for some reason. Before he poured it in the decanter, he poured himself a small taste and tasted it himself while he was in the back of the dining room...before I had even tasted it. he was also a bit scatter brained. food runner was impossible to understand. all that said, the food was fantastic and the rest of the service was spot on. wine list is smaller than expected. i'll visit this place again."

"My husband and I have been going to Hatfield's since they had their tiny location on Beverly Blvd and it is still one of our favorites. Quinn and Karen are the epitome of how to run a first class restaurant. From the ambience to the spectacular food, it is a wonderful experience. The staff is superb. "With our OpenTable reservation I indicated that this was a special night for us, our 35th anniversary. I repeated this fact when I confirmed the reservation by phone. Imagine then our surprise when our waiter expressed no knowledge of this. No big deal, I guess, but the difference between a memorable occasion and a merely "fun" evening is the way restaurant management makes one feel special. On this night, the only recognition the restaurant made was a chocolate script on one non-comped dessert plate. Even though one of the owners was a greeter, she never stopped by our table, which would have been appreciated. The food was great, but a subtle acknowledgement by management would have made a $250 meal go down a little easier."

"We loved it! We took our two high school daughters and decided on the Chef's tasting menu. It was absolutely delicious! We had the wine pairings and the sommelier was friendly and super knowledgeable. My girls loved the 2 dessert courses! "First time at this location. I was pleased that the space was large and roomy. It was nice to watch the chefs and kitchen staff work so well together. It was a relaxing dining experience and the meal, appetizers, cocktails and wine selection all worked well together. The dessert was more delicious than how it was described in the menu. Price is high which rules out going often but for a special occasion, it's the perfect spot."

"One of us is an extremely talented, innovative, amateur chef, who eats out often at great restaurants, and is always looking for new ideas to try. We both loved Hatfields. The food was interesting, delicious, and creative. According to some other reviews, there was a problem with the wait staff, however, we thought the service was very good--prompt, helpful and efficient. We will return anytime we are in Los Angeles."

"Always exceptional food and service. Our server knows just when to interrupt the conversation. When my wife was deliberating between two desserts, our server gave his advice between the two, and then after she ordered the one that he recommended, he brought both so she could determine that she in fact had made the right choice. That's the kind of service that beings us back to Harfields over and over again."

"Ambiance: The restaurant is either too large, or there aren't enough tables to fill the place. It felt empty. There's a couple "special rooms" that were empty, and there's a bar/lounge area that is pretty sparse. The decor is supposed to be simple, I get that, but it just doesn't seem to work.
Food: A good effort. I had the Prix Fix meal, and some of the items were quite good (Scallops), but temperature was a problem with almost every course. Even the dessert was off with temp...part of it was frozen and we had to wait for it to thaw.
Service: Unimpressive. No that anyone was unresponsive, and the waiter was fine, but the overall service was just mediocre. For a $100 meal, I would expect more professionalism and precision."

"We had the 7-course tasting menu duo (different dish for each person in a couple). The first three courses were wonderful. The sauces were good, but a little heavy for the fourth courses (duck and buttermilk chicken). Fifth courses, the fig and mint encrusted lamb was good, but the braised short rib was bland. The first dessert courses were good palate cleansers, and we enjoyed the last dessert courses."

"Overall, our favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. We love the design/ambiance and presentation, but neither mean much if the food is ordinary -- which is never the case here. The way the chef combines ingredients and sauces is simply perfect. At most fine restaurants I enjoy savoring the taste of each of the fine ingredients... Hatfield's is one of the rare places where I also appreciate analyzing the specific way the ingredients play off each other in ways I have never experienced before. Every fine restaurant strives for that of course, but Hatfield's nails it. Truly outstanding."

"The food was delicious, however our waiter seemed a little distracted by the A-list celebrities sitting a table away from us. It seemed like his attention was missing from our experience as he was worried about making a good impression on theirs.
