Purple Café and Wine Bar pairs a global wine selection with a menu that combines classic American styles with seasonal Northwest ingredients.
We feature an expansive menu ranging from artisan cheeses, starters, soups, salads, sandwiches and pizzas to pasta and seafood. We take a great deal of pride in utilizing the freshest, local ingredients that change with the seasons.
On the wine side of things our wine list features over 80 glass and 600 bottle selections. Over the years our wine program has been recognized with various accolades that include an "Award of Ultimate Distinction" from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and being named "Best Wine Bar" by Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington Viewers Poll.
"We were here for a birthday dinner and decided to eat outside which was great, because the sun was shining but the umbrellas provided some shade. We both ordered the $30 prix fixe menu and ordered the Baked Brie/stuffed dates to start (the baked brie was just the right consistency for spreading and the gorgonzola cheese in the dates was a delicious flavor combination), the free range roasted chicken (this was cooked to perfection, and the juices and flavors were literally dripping out of it) served with mashed potatoes in a mushroom gravy sauce, and grilled asparagus (the asparagus was a little dry but still tasty), finished with the salted caramels/triple chocolate truffles. The truffles were so rich, one would have been enough!"

"Had a tasty little lunch with a table just right for two. Good food, but a little noisy and the restaurant was not nearly full. Very light inside even when seated away from the windows."

"I went there the other day to celebrate my birthday with a couple girlfriends. I arrived early and enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar. The bartender was really accommodating - when I asked for their most buttery, oaky Chardonnay she said that their wine director prefers French Chardonnay and they didn't really have one on the menu the way I like it. She let me try a couple first, which I really appreciated it. She also brought some bread and butter (no charge) so I could enjoy the wine properly. Dinner was fun, we had a nice table by the window and our server was polite and nice but a bit slower than I prefer. I ordered the special risotto & wine pairing and it was delicious. A great way to celebrate my birthday!"

"Excellent service as expected, its why we come back. The halibut and the tuna were great, wasn't expecting the bean choice with the tuna, but it worked really well."

"The food was good. We were seated inside an old oil tank, with just about the loudest people I've ever been around. It was claustrophobic and so noisy I couldn't even think. I had to get up and leave after a while. The bartender was so stingy! I ordered a brandy and got less than 1/2 a shot. The 10 or 15 minute drive to Kirkland is well worth the time and gas."

"I found the food to be delicious, though the filet mignon was not a great value for its tastiness. The staff managed to confuse my date's order, but noticed even before we did and were gracious enough to bring her the correct order in a box when they realized their mistake. I ordered the southern french wine flight thinking I might broaden my french wine experience, but none of the glasses inspired me to want a bottle and the Cotes du Rhone had clearly turned. The sommelier was quick to replace the turned Cotes du Rhone and insult the resilience of my palate. (I'm no expert, but I'm told orange juice isn't a flavor expected from wine.) If you are looking for great (not excellent) food and posh atmosphere, this is it."

"I really like booking thru Open Table....it's quick and easy.....there is a place on the website for "special comments".....and, I filled that in because I was taking my husband there for his birthday......but, not a word was said.....I have used this "special comments" before for my grandaughter's birthday at a restaurant in Redmond, booked thru Open Table, and it was wonderful.....they made a fuss over her.....but, not a word for my husband! Other than that we very much enjoyed our evening...."

"Great atmosphere, great service. Was a little loud early on, due to the fact it was packed in both the restaurant and bar, but very energetic. Food was prepared just right. Service was outstanding!"

"We had a blast at the Bellevue location of Purple, and all of our food and drink needs were capably met by Chris, CT and the rest of the staff. The chef has really figured out how to mesh flavors, and the service was exceptional. We'll definitely return."

"Our server went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience and we did! Try the Chef's cheese flight with the wine pairing. It will blow your mind. They also have an incredible 3-course menu. Well worth it!"

"My wife and I went to the Purple before attending the Cirque Du Soleil show. We had a great time and enjoyed the ambiance. The Purple is a nice place for a couple or a group of friends. My wife truly enjoyed the sea salt caramel dessert (took 3 to go). Great happy hour!"

"This place is awesome, very cool dining experience and although they have a kid menu this place is not really for kids it is more a place for adults to hang out and have a nice very good relaxing dinner"

"Not the best happy hour prices. Two of us had 4 drinks and and shared 1 appetizer during happy hour then also shared a salad and on entree. With tax and tip the total was still $100. We thought is was a bit pricey for a regular outing. Better save it for a special occasion. Then again, I wouldnt choose it for a special occasion because it dosent have that romantic ambience."

"My husband and I were seated in a small curved table against a very cold wall (metal or stone) inside a tight fitting circular pod of about 5 tables. Beware during cold weather!
Mushroom flatbread was very tasty, but a tad oily. We had the beet risotto and scallop special. The risotto/balsamic reduction was excellent, but scallops were overcooked. The roasted cauliflower consisted of 1 piece perched atop the risotto, not integrated and very dry. The dark chocolate mousse with cherry compote dessert was fantastic! The wine was very nice, and priced accordingly. Overall -- not a great date destination, but good for a light meal/glass of wine with the girls."

"Good place for a casual dinner and probably great for lunch. The food was good; my lamb shank was delightful, very tender. I feared the very open seating would lend to being quite noisy, but that was not the case and conversation among four people was easy. Our server, Tom, was very well informed and helpful with food decisions. He was very professional and adept at making sure our dining experience was good."

"Our waiter was fantastic! The food and beverages were wonderful (as always)! We were even allowed to remain at the dining table to open our post holiday presents - which is why we got together in the first place. I just love Purple Cafe!!!"

"Service was not good. She was not very knowledgeable about menu. I wasn't sure if she was new or not. Food was so so. Not as good as my prior visits. Dropped my sandwich on floor so I had to wait for new one. I like Kirkland location better."

"The food was pretty but poorly executed. The Grilled steak was tougher than leather, chicken dry through and through and the dessert had a distinct burned flavor. The Staff was reasonable and the place was busy. We were in an alcove and when full, this became difficult to leave without forcing other patrons to make way."
