"Steven Starr has worked his magic again with the Barcaly Prime. The steaks are to die for and the tater tots are beyond description. For a high end restaurant, the food is reasonably priced and worth every cent. This is now my restaurant for steaks!!!!"

"Dined for the first time at Barclay Prime for my birthday. All around it was an excellent experience!! I ordered their version of the Wedge salad which is a mix of blue cheese and Russian dressing topped with crab meat followed by an 8 oz. australian wagyu filet and a side of truffle mac and cheese. I was nervous at first about a $75 filet but since it was my birthday, and I wasnt paying, i went for it! I was not disappointed in the slightest. The filet was oh so tender, buttery smooth, and seared perfectly on the outside. I never order a sauce so I can experience the true flavor and texture of the meat, and trust me, you want to experience all this steak has to offer. Would definitely recommend the waygu and Barclay overall!"

"No real complaints, got the ribeye and thought the sear on it was a bit burnt tasting, and found that to be distracting, compared to what I've had at Ruth's Chris, Morton's, and BLT Steak. Tempura softshell crab was light and flavorful, mushroom side was average, glazed carrots had an interesting tang/spiciness. Seersucker cocktail very drinkable and refreshing. Finished the meal with the sorbet trio, which was the perfect end."

"I went to Barclay Prime to celebrate my Master Degree graduation from SJU. My mom, husband, and I had a fantastic dinner, dining on high quality food, while sitting comfortably in our couches. Because it was a celebration, I will confess that I ordered the $100 cheesesteak, which was good, but in the end, I stole more than a few bites of my husband's ribeye steak which was cooked to perfection. My mom had crab for both appetizer and entree, and each was perfect. The nicest touch was the celebratory dessert that my server brought me (on the house), complete with sparkling candle.
Be prepared to spend some money at Barclay Prime, but also be prepared to delight in every bite!"

"We traveled to Philadelphia to attend a conference and wanted to entertain at a nice restaurant with great food and were told that the Barclay was the best steak in town. They did not disappoint! Not only the best steak I've had in years but the sides were also incredibly well done. Sides were enough to share for 4 people and the dessert was outstanding. Service could not have been better either. Smiling, courteous and helpful in every way. If I lived there I would frequent this restaurant constantly! We'll be back."

"The service was appropriately cordial and attentive -- the staff are well trained professionals and do a great job. The complimentary popovers were a hit. All of our dishes came out quickly and the steaks were prepared properly. The sliders were excellent and the I recommend the truffled whipped potatoes as a side dish. The creamed spinach was a bit on the bland side. The food & service better be excellent for these prices. Expect to pay ~$80-100 per person not necessarily including drinks. The wine list was very extensive, but again the prices are very high and it was somewhat difficult to pick a bottle of wine that was going to be very good w/out spending over $100. Will plan to revisit for very special "splurge" occasions only."

"We ordered crab meat for an app, which was very good, fillet mignon ad Bronzino. Fillet was medium-rare as desired but not juicy at all. Fish was delicious and of a decent size. Place seemed a little louder than a usual fine-dining restaurant. Overall, a great experience and a fun night."

"We have been trying out various steak houses over the last few years and had been looking forward to Barclay Prime. My friend and I ordered steak medium rare. The waiter informed us that medium rare is red all the way through and warm. Medium is pink all the way through and hot. Neither of us really wanted to chew a cold uncooked piece of meat so we went with medium assuming that the waiter who had been there for 8 years understood that we were medium rare lovers. Our steaks arrived thickly charred, which was a turn off for us but could have been balanced by a juicy inside but both our steaks were overcooked. I only ate about 1/4 of it. It did not melt in my mouth like the steaks at Butcher and Singer or Lewnes in Annapolis."

"I have been to Barclay prime may times. Every experience has been phenomenal. The atmosphere is light and classy. The food is rich and delicious. Located in Rittenhouse square, the restaurant is easy to find, easy to get to, and right in the heart of a great area to make an evening. The menu allows you to tailor your own experience and enjoy a slow easy night out."

"Easily the best steakhouse I've ever been to. It even put Starr's Butcher & Singer to shame. I got the lobster bisque, wedge salad with BOTH dressings and bacon substituted for crab. Next we ordered an 18 ounce ribeye and an 8 ounce wagyu filet. Paired with truffle whipped potatoes and truffle baked Mac and cheese I was just blown away.
And I won't even begin to talk about their spectacular rolls - god only knows what went into them."

"This is our favorite place. Never disappoints. Plan for a long evening. Take your time, allow the servers to do their job. Make it a many hour evening. The chairs and couches that you dine on are very comfortable and promote a long dinner stay. Bring plenty of cash because a dinner for 4, with tip and everything that comes with dinner can hit $1,000 easy."

"Hosted a dinner hear for a major customer and my upper management here 2 nights ago. Honestly the best meal I've ever had in my life!
From the beet salad, to the martinis, to the pop over bread, sides and of course the filet, it just got better and better. I'll definitely return next time I'm in Philly.
The entire party was thrilled, so mission accomplished!"

"Barclay Prime is simply the best steakhouse in Philadelphia. Likely my favorite Starr restaurant. Dining room is elegant and comfortable. Service is always top notch. My scallop starter was excellent. The popovers are always a tempting carb favorite of mine. My fillet was cooked precisely as ordered and is as good a quality beef as I have found in any restaurant. My date and dining companion was duly impressed by the experience. He raved about his main choice--the seared Tuna. My only quibble with BP is the wine prices are quite high--but if you are on a splurge or expense account, BP is the place."

"A very un-crowded Sunday night dinner seemed to affect the cooking. Lobster bisque wasn't warm, nor was béarnaise sauce for our not-tender dry-aged New York strip steak. The soup was replaced and not charged. Some dishes were excellent: the popovers served instead of rolls (but why the current fad for flakes of sea salt in the butter?), the bone-in filet, the creamed spinach. The soup, "Potato Gratin" and spinach were large portions. The Morgon Beaujolais at $54 never opened to any finesse. We found the steaks and soup overpowered by their salt content. The room was very clubby, with art books on the Bauhaus-plain handsome wooden shelves contrasting to the formal chandeliers. It was difficult to sit up and eat in the lounge chairs."

"I have never been disappointed @ BP. Again, we celebrate my birthday. Oysters, lamb chops, those @ the table had filet, lobster bisque, shrimp cocktail & chopped sakad. Wait staff was good, little slow with drinks & I don't think they should give you a look when you order a glass of the house merlot instead of an expensive glass on their wine list. But everything was excellent! Love the funky but classic vibe. You get what you pay for, consistently great food, great atmosphere & service. I'm ready to make my next reservation! BP was always be one if my favorites. (Ps-they should serve a sauce with the lamb chops, just a suggestion) they brought out 2 beautiful desserts on the house, plus the one that we ordered. Very nice touch."

"$35 corkage fee is a bit unreasonable for glass stems instead of crystal. Charging $3 for steak sauce is insulting. Conversation volume is loud enough given the high ceilings - combine that with the loud music and it is overwhelming! Our aged, prime NY strips were not as good as other high-end steak restos in the area.
Aside from my cons - the apps, other entrees and most of all the service was worth the price of admission."

"The hostess who checked us in was somewhat preoccupied which explains why we were reported as no-shows to open table. This first impression lingers. However, our server, Eleni, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. My lamb chops, though very pricey, were absolutely perfect, the best I've had in this area. My husband's filet was also very, very good. The asparagus was good, the brussel sprouts were too sweet. The homemade ice cream we had for dessert was wonderful. They put a candle on my husband's since it was his birthday and gave us a small chocolate cake to take home, a nice gesture."

"My husband and I recently dined here to celebrate a special wedding anniversary. While the Caesar salad was a bit disappointing, all the other dishes were excellent. I ordered a fillet and it was cooked beautifully with a mildly peppery crust. My husband and I agreed that the baked potato was the best either of us had ever tasted. Asparagus were cooked just right and served with a lovely side of hollandaise sauce. My husband's halibut was superb. The wait staff was terrific--helpful with a warm sense of humor. We knew the bill would be on the pricey side, but were willing to pay for such a special occasion and such special service. The restaurant was very comfortable with cushy chairs and nice lighting. Unfortunately it was drafty."
