Perbacco serves modern elegant and progressive Italian cuisine in the East Village.
Frank Bruni, of the NY Times, awarded the restaurant 2 stars and wrote that what struck him about Perbacco wasn't "the crush of diners...it was the attention they seemed to pay to their food. It was the particular energy coursing through the dark-wooded, softly lighted room." He also said that Perbacco "has graduated to a whole new level, worthy of its name, which means 'wow.'"
"Shared some delicious small plates with a few friends. You must try the stuffed fried olives!! Everything was delicious and the wine wasamazing. Will definitely be coming back! Great service too :)"

"The menu had so many wonderful things on it that it was hard to choose. I was glad we were in a group so that we could get many starters so as to have a good overview. Everything was delicious."

"I went to Perbacco last wednesday with my husband and my cousin. We choose the place because the menu offerred delicious dishes, a lot of variety and the place had a warm and friendly atmosphere. I can't complain about the food, at least mine and my cousin's dishes were excellent, she ordered gnochi with butter and sauted onions, it was lovely, and mine was a special spagetti I don't recall the name of the type of pasta, with a pesto sauce, also delicious. Unfortunately my husband didn't end up very happy with his plate because his lamb ribs were to small and it looked like not enough food for its price form the very first look of the plate. However the service was really great, the waiter was very friendly and nice!! Come but order pasta!"

"the food was good, the wine a little short and the ambiance was not how it appeared on the website. having reached the restaurant and saw GRADE PENDING my impulse was not to go in but since we had to make theater and there was nothing convenient nearby we had to stay there. ordinarily i would never go to any establishment with a grade pending. and i think that these ratings should be posted on your website along with all the other information posted about the restaurant."

"This was the second year we travelled into NYC from LI to have an Easter dinner with family. Both times the food & service were well enjoyed by everyone there. The chocolate hamburger desert stands out as a unique & delicious item. I highly recommend Perbacco."

"I've been here quite a few times, but not often in the past year. Seems the focus of their menu has changed (less small plates, more entrées), but the food remains excellent! (Maybe even better) And the service has improved. We started with the tuna appetizer (very satisfying) along with the yummy polenta (mushroom and truffle sauce was our fav) and the endive salad (fresh and tasty). My friend had the pork chops and I had the homemade spaghetti with roe and lemon zest. Both were delicious and beautifully plated. We had a carafe of the Montepulciano which was excellent and reasonably priced, and the coffee and dessert - Tiramisu - were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall an excellent experience at Perbacco this time!"

"The food, at best, was mediocre. We had a party of seven and I wouldn't recommend that many people in this small restaurant. Two people in our party ordered the fruiti de mare. What came was fried calamari and fried shrimp. No mention of fried on that menu. I had the Branzino which was overcooked. Never over cook fish! I don't live in New York so I definitely wouldn't go back. I hope to forget that restaurant soon."

"cute place with nice menu we went with a party of 6.. We had the stuffed olives, parmigiana creme brulee, mussels and lamb skewer appetizers followed by the lamb, risotto, lasagna, pork , taglaiatelle. Everyone enjoyed their meal, desserts were also good . Overall it was a good find, not too expensive, portions were adequate but not as big as most main stream italian places. We were confused by the name though, not sur eif it has chnages, it comes up on the i phone as IN vino not Perbacco but the in vino webiset has a completely different menu."

"Had a very enjoyable meal with four friends. Traditional Italian food but with a twist - we had the branzino, squash ravioli, gnocchi, lasagne, all delicious. Definitely a place I would go back to."

"The service was quite poor. We were completely ignored by our waitress from the moment we arrived. Sadly, I had to walk over to the bar to obtain beverages for my party."

"Walked in and wasn't sure how I'd like it. The place looked noisy and crowded. As it cleared out, however, we could really appreciate the "little Italian restaurant" feel. The service was great and the food was even better! They also had a good selection of wines from all over Italy. If you're looking for great Italian food that's not overpriced this is the place to go. Loved it, highly recommended."

"Unfortunately, our meal at Perbacco would best be described as odd. The salads we're totally under-dressed, a spinach salad arrived as a pile of sauteed spinach though no mention of it being a hot salad on the menu. The "eggplant parm" turned out to be fried balls that tasted faintly of eggplant swimming in some kind of cheese-foam - it was as good as it sounds. The pasta with lamb ragu had nearly no sauce and less lamb. The branzino was overcooked. The capper was the truly bizarre "chocolate slider" that needs to be seen to be believed - though I would not advise eating it. Our meal was complemented by completely out-of-place spanish pop music played at a high volume."

"I used to love this restaurant, but was very disappointed during the last visit. Even their famous parmigiano souffle was not good (it was too liquid and sweet)."

"We were six people for a friend's birthday. The seventh person was supposed to show up late and never did but the staff wasn't concerned, perhaps because the restaurant was half full. The service was warm, professional and attentive. Some of the small plates were outstanding, especially the roasted beets. The main courses were competent but not outstanding. Desserts were average and I think the gelato was a letdown."
