The Dining Room offers a more intimate and quiet setting. Please indicate which room you prefer when making your reservation. All efforts will be made to honor these requests, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the exact table of your choice.

"Service was terrific. Bar staff was friendly, helpful, and skilled with drink preps Food was delicious, we had duck and chicken, and both were cooked perfectly. Went for our anniversary dinner, and both of us felt that it was worth the money."

"I have never had an experience like I had at the Grill at the Morrison House AT 116 S. Alfred Street Alexandria, Virginia. From the beginning when i pressed the button for the butler to take my car. We were greeted by a woman who was really nice. We we directed to the Dining area which was done in period taste. Our server was very knowledgable and very nice. My wife and I choose the 7 course, of which was wonderful. The presentation was out of this world. We had never had a seven course before so it was a new experience. My daughter did not want to eat that much. Over all I give it an outstanding reccomendation. I will sure come back Mothers day if I can get a reservation. I go dining on special oocations."

"Great food and service. Enjoyed the Friday open mike as well. As they mention on their website, ask for one of the quieter dining rooms to enjoy the music "from a distance" and still be able to have nice table conversation."

"Overall, the experience was good. Not great. No one was at the entrance to greet us. Caused a little confusion when we arrived. Food was good, but service was slow. Spent a lot of money, but did not feel the experience was worth the expense. Don't mind paying for a great experience -- this was not it. Don't plan to return."

"This was our first experience dining at Grille at the Morrison House. When we arrived, the place was busy entertaining a large event. We arrived at the dining room and were greeted by the bartender and a server. When I explained that we had a reservation for brunch they looked at me with a confused face. "You need a Table for 2? Sure - right over here." Our waitress wasn't warm or friendly. In fact - I don't think she smiled once the entire time we were there. The food was good but a restaurant experience is about much more than just the food. I really didn't feel welcome at all and the whole experience felt a bit awkward. I'd like to think this experience was some sort of fluke because I was really looking forward to dining here."

"The food was excellent! Plus, wine is half off (glass & bottles) on Sunday when te piano isn't playing. My in-laws love it, which speaks highly of the restaurant."

"I absolutely loved the friendly feel at The Grille, the entire staff (including the locals) made me feel more like family than a guest. The service was amazing and attentive and the food is in a class of its own when it comes to quality and presentation. The staff showed me a new level of genuine care and hospitality, from picking the perfect table for my occasion to walking me through the dessert menu selections. I will definitely be returning to The Grille to try other dishes and continue to explore their extensive yet very affordable wine selections."

"We found the Grille at the Morrison House when we search for a music option for dinner in Old Town, Alexandria. The Grille offered a "piano sing-along" which was like live karaoke! It was a little crowded and quite noisy, but a fantastic experience anyway. The food and wine were excellent. A bit pricey, although well worth it to us. Special thanks to the manager, Adam who was able to fit us in for a last minute dinner at a great table!"

"Our servers were wonderful. They anticipated our needs and responded! Their recommendations were spot on. We wanted a quiet romantic dinner and when a large party was seted next to us, they moved us without us asking. The service just continued to amaze us! The French onion soup was rich! The beet bourgonion was to die for."

"Worst overpriced breakfast I have had in recent memory: - My poached eggs were overcooked. This was not an isolated occurrence as I saw several other people receive similarly soft/hard boiled "poached" eggs. I would have sent them back if I had not seen the other poached eggs come out identical - My hollandaise was first mistaken for Lemon curd - The staff repeatedly forgot other diners orders ( not our table however) - My wife's salmon scramble was overcooked and dry with minuscule amounts of salmon. - Our toast was only toasted on one side? In 32 years of dining out this has never occured - Several other tables sent their food back for un-explained reasons On the plus side: - The tea and coffee was good"

"Parking is non-existant; finding a spot on the street in Old Town Alexandria is challenging at best. I drove around in circles for 15-minutes. Sunday Brunch was disappointing. Service was exceedingly slow. Small room, bare walls, nothing to absorb noise. Fourteen women all talking at the same time created a cacaphony. Food was excellent, but not recommended because of the lack of parking, poor service and noise level."

"We were sadly disappointed in the Grille for Easter Brunch. We know Easter is a busy day, but the maitre d' did not apologize, explain or respond to email. We were seated a half hour after the reservation time. The menu price was $8 more than normal Sunday brunch and did not include wine. The Farm Salad with "roasted" beets, was mostly large stalks of watercress and two tiny pieces of beet. The egg entrees were poor, tepid and one did not have the promised sauce or cripy potato, dried skins instead. One dessert was not available, one the server could not describe and when the cake was served there were no forks. We asked and got soup spoons. Same for coffee and tea and again got soup spoons. The bill was for 2 not 3,so we told staff"

"We have been here before and at the suggestion of friends who thought they had selected a 4 star restaruant. This last experience had the feel and service of a fast food place that was terrible in service (not fast nor efficient) and totally different than I had experienced before. I do not know if the service persons and/or the chef are new but this was not at all a good experience nor will I come back alone or with friends. We have several options in the city that are the dining experience one expects when going out to a previously lovely atmosphere and wonderful service with excellent menus - a pity!"

"The bar is great fun on a Thursday evening. Piano player and sing along as good as you'll find. Food-great! Steaks prepared to perfection. Wine list is lacking, i.e. limited selection. Service was excellent."

"My husband and I made a tea for two date at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, not realizing that a manners class for young girls also had a reservation. It was not a problem for us at all because the young ladies were very charming, the staff was very friendly and they worked hard to ensure everyone was happy. There were also 3 separate events in the other rooms! Busy, but we will definitely do this again! This was our 2nd time dining at Grille at the Morrison House and everytime there has been an incredible gracious, & friendly atmosphere each time. Very nice! (Valet parking and coat check are pluses!)"
