LON’s at the Hermosa is the most authentic hacienda in Arizona, surrounded by spectacular scenery. "The food and service is only surpassed by the ambiance. If you dine here, try to go on a warm (90 degree) evening and ask to be seated on the patio. It is one of the best in Phoenix/Scottsdale. The service is outstanding, it operates like a well oiled machine even with a full load. This is definitely not a place to take small children."

"We stopped at Lon's on the way home from the airport in the morning. We wanted to stop for breakfast and sit outside. Lon's was perfect. We had a lovely breakfast (we tried several different dishes) and absolutely wonderful service. We plan to go back for a different meal and loved the hide-away feel of the grounds yet so central to Scottsdale."

"I cannot say enough about this place. If you have not gone, LONs must be a the top of your list. Have dinner on the patio. It is very, very nice and of course make reservations in advance. The food was outstanding. My partner preferred the chicken, which was moist and juicy. The staff was very attentive. If dinner for two, request a table by the fountain."

"The evening was perfect. We were able to sit with our friends on the patio, and the live music was pleasant without interfering with conversation. Three of us ordered the gazpacho, which was perfect in taste and size. All the entrees were delicious, especially the salmon. The waiter was spot on in being attentive and not overly so. He was especially helpful in advising the chef of my food allergy. We would recommend this restaurant to any of our friends."

"Beautiful and lush, it could use mister system to boost the cooling on warm nights. Chelsa's has a similar patio with misters that are very obscure and subtle while keeping a cooler temp. Music was very nice not to loud or distracting. Loved the cowboy flavor and oldies."

"We have had a few celebrations at Lon's over the years. This time was for our son's graduation from Arizona State University. Our party of seven thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with the soothing guitar player in the background and twinkle lights in the trees. The food was excellent as always. We had the delicious Ahi over the Hot Salt Rock and Calamari with the Halibut and Braised Short Ribs which was very tender. The wine list was extensive as we enjoyed the Montelena Cabernet and Rombauer Chardonnay. I would highly recommend going to Lon's for any occasion.

"besides the lovely garden, there's not much else going for this place. it USED to be wonderful, but the food now is maybe only a sliver of notch up from a diner. I asked for a rare burger with goat cheese -- it came out sans cheese and over cooked. The ceviche was standard, nothing special. The tuna nicoise salad entree, appetizer size. "We were seated in the corner of the empty main dining room while the patio was bustling and beautiful. We were alone in there for 20 minutes before another party was seated. The food was disappointing and very expensive. The short rib and Pinot Noir were good but the mushroom soup was oily, rib eye flavorless and the shockingly tiny blackberry pie was overly tart and presented in a very hard shell. This was not a good value for the money."

"Lon's is one of our favorite places to dine. But, this time we were disappointed. We had made the reservation several days in advance, and asked for patio seating. When we arrived (7:45 reservation), we were told there was no patio seating available and they did not know when a table woukd be available. Our inside waiter was excellent, but we had been very much looking forward to patio dining."

"What a fantastic dining experience! Our group of 6 first enjoyed happy hour outside on the beautifully landscaped patio. Gorgeous flowers, plants and mature trees everywhere, with a casual but elegant, old Phoenix feel. Our server was fun, helpful and attentive. Dinner (also on the patio) was just as memorable. The menu was varied, but not overwhelming, and the wine selection was outstanding. Our server recommended the truffle goat cheese macaroni side dish, which was hands down the group favorite, with the porcini mushroom soup a close second. The bone-in rib eye steak entree was a hit with everyone. We are looking forward to returning here often. Lon's is a real gem in the desert."

"The environment at Lon's is wonderful. We came for brunch. I had the omelet which was just fine. The eggs benedict were good also. The two men had the short rib hash and though it was very good, it was an extremely small portion. We come to AZ once a year and try to make Lon's a stop on our visit. We'll be back next year."

"This is my favorite restaurant in the entire Valley of the Sun! Outside dining overlooking Camelback Mountain is gorgeous, as are the grounds of the resort. The menu contains foods to tickle anyone's taste buds, the service is superb and there are some outside tables that are perfect for people to whom noise is an issue. We sat in the southwest corner of the patio and we could all hear one another perfectly. We had a very attentive but non-obtrusive waiter."

"Everything was nice, except that it took a long time for our food to come out and our side dish came out towards the end of the meal. We spent just shy of $500 for 4 people, so not sure it was worth the price. All in all it was a nice evening with another couple. We will have to think about returning, you are really paying for the view...food was good, but menu was a bit disappointing. It took everyone a long time to decide what to eat, mainly because of the choices. We are big time foodies, but the other couple were not and so they were unsure of the choices. Maybe add more dishes like quail or rabbit...it was OK."

"Had a very romantic night at Lon's at the Hermosa with my husband. We sat outdoor and really enjoyed the weather and the band performance. Food was great. For appetizer, I particularly liked the Foie Gras. For entree, the Scottish Samlon was crispy outside and juicy inside. Absolutely delightful. The restaurant has a bunch of half-bottle wine choices. Perfect for small groups. Overall, it was a fantastic experience! I would highly recommend the restaurant to those who are looking for a special night to spend."

"Overall experience was good. We had reservations at 5:30 p.m., arrived at 5:25 were asked to sit in bar/lounge area as the restaurant wasn't open yet, was actually seated at table at 5:40. Around 7:50 a gentleman who appeared to be the manager/host approached the table and informed me that our table was reserved for a party arriving at 8:00 p.m. and we could "take as long as we wanted" but we should move to the outdoor seating area. What? Really? I was annoyed and informed him that we were finishing, however had just ordered dessert and coffee. Told him we could cancel the coffee and get our check, he immediately back peddled, apologized and said he did not know we had ordered dessert - it was okay to stay and finish."
