"Good and interesting menu nice ambiance, and good loocation. I found the dishes and preparation were interesting and very well prepared, this contrasts with the sameness of many italian places. Its actually hard to find good quality restaurant food in Walnut Creek and we appreciate this place."

"Been to Ottavio twice in the past and totally enjoyed it. However, this time was quite disappointing. Out of the four entrees ordered, only one was not over-the-top salty. Also noticed when leaving that the name of the chef on the business card was not Ottavio, but someone else.....new owner with different seasoning habits perhaps?"

"Once again we returned to Ottavio with high expectations for an exceptional meal and as expected, we were delighted! We shared the first course of house cured meats then embarked on a wonderful sturgeon carpaccio. The main courses were memorable including the papardelle with wild boar, Kobe Beef medallions with roasted vegetables, and grilled veal chop(this is a must and we keep returning for this signature dish!)A light panacotta with fresh blackberries was the perfect finish to another memorable meal."

"I arranged for a group of friends to eat dinner here during Restaurant Week. The food was good, but the menu was more expensive than other restaurants in the area and not very diverse. The overall experience was good - not bad but not great either."

"Went here once a year or so ago and had a great meal went back this year and the food was OK (good really but ordinary where it had been cutting edge) the service was very slow and the server not very knowledgable (couldn't suggest wine with any confidence - didn't really know the menu)"

"The menu is very creative with lots of choices. Have dined here before with better results. Tonight, some of the dishes looked tired and not as fresh as they have been (i.e. the Prosciutto was tired and had an overly gamey flavor). Others, like the Kobe Beef Sirloin were delish...maybe a slightly off night. It was very slow so maybe they didn't get a rhythm going for the night. Will still be back....just not as soon."

"Ottavio was delicious! Having read the wonderful reviews, we booked dinner here to celebrate our first date night out post-baby for my husband's birthday. Everything was great from the food to the service, and we especially loved the burrata dish with housemade charcuterie. Although my gnocchi was great, I also had major food envy watching dishes come out of the kitchen and look forward to exploring other menu items soon. We'll be back!"

"Excellent italian food and good service. The physical layout of the restaurant is awkward because it's so small. Our party of two had the option of sitting next to the front door or across from the kitchen. Great food but they loose points on ambiance."

"We were in town for a sporting event ( our team lost, unfortunately), but This I place was the highlight. Incredible Italian food at very reasonable prices. The service was excellent as well, and great wines by the glass. If you find yourself anywhere nearby, do yourself a favor and eat here. The pasta with seafood is outstanding, and my wife loved the pork chop. Everything is fresh and good. Enjoy."

"Took my fiancé for Valentines day. The food was great, but they did a fixed four course menu which was a bit pricy, so I can't really comment on what the food is like on the normal menu. The service wasn't absolutely horrible, but we had sat down for about 30 minutes before they brought us drinks or any bread. It also took them a while after clearing our plates to bring out the next course. It ended up being a 2 hour dinner! We were exhausted by the end of it. We did have a good time, the food was excellent, and it was a romantic Valentines day dinner. Our only qualm was the service."

"Our extended family of five had an excellent meal, all of with varied tastes, so we ordered and tasted a wide variety of dishes. YUM. I love the food--creative recipes, such as the white fish with beans and delcious sauce (also low carb!) and others enjoyed the gnocchi or the wild boar or lamb. We all enjoyed our meals, Served by our attentive waiter. We probably could have happily ordered just a glass of house red vs. the $44 bottle of Cab, but it was good. Dessert-bread pudding, shared, was mouth-watering. It was very quiet on a Monday night...quite a change from the bustle of my previous visits, both on Saturday nights."

"Not a great place for Italian food. The salad was OK, fresh however, swimming in dressing. The pasta with boar ragu was thin, bland and tasteless. Seafood Risotto was actually steamed rice with a small serving of seafood. The prices were way over the top for the quality of the food. Dinner (salad and pasta/risotto) for 2, with a glass of wine cost $100 with tip."

"Once again...TO DIE FOR! The lamb with citrus/pomegranate sauce was sublime. Always something amazing here. The regular menu items never disappoint either. Can't go wrong with the smoked pork chop!"

"Excellent appetizers and pastas. We tried two pastas and two apps - all 6 of us loved them. For entrees we had 2 steaks, 2 lambs and 2 corvina. The lamb was overcooked and drenched in a too strong pomegranite sauces. The steak was good, but the peppercorn sauce was too heavy. The corvina was good.
I would stay away from the entrees and stick with the pastas."
