"Okay, it wasn't a fluke. On my third visit to this reataurant in a month, I had my entree delivered to my table less than half way through my appetizer!!! That is two out of three times and one of my visits was lunch with no appetizer, so impossible to rush me then. The food is wonderful and so is the environment but really? What's with the rush? In addition, the server neglected to tell us what they were out of and of course, that is what I wanted to order. Should have been handled at the specials announcement. There is nothing worse than having a delicious meal in a wonderful space and not have a dining experience. This restaurant should be the type of place where that should be a given, it's that nice."

"I recently treated my girlfriend to lunch here and we had a very nice experience. I had perhaps the best lentil soup of my life. There was also a Pinot Grigio that was the special for $4.00 a glass - quite the bargain and delicious as well. The server was wonderful, better experience than the first time. Although the entree coming out during the appetizer test could not be conducted due to the fact that it was lunch and I had my soup and salad come out at the same time."

"This restaurant is not in my town but 20 minute away, so it's a big deal I even went. My daughter and I had tickets to a show in the area and decided to go there. We are glad we did. With the exception that the server was a bit less polished than what I would have expected, the food was delicious. I had a beet salad and the seared sea scallops and my daughter had the chicken marsala. had one BIG complaint though, the entree was brought out while we were enjoying our appetizers and with no apology that was not the norm. I would go again, I just hope we don't get rushed through dinner."

"This is one of my favorite restaurants and they never disappoint. Upon arrival we were promptly seated outside on the patio, I had made a note on my reservation that outside seating is preferred. We were helped very quickly and the food was excellent. The only thing negative I can say is that my date does not like asparagus, and there were not many asparagus free dishes to choose from this time of year. For an asparagus lover such as myself, that is a bonus though."

"The Bistro is one of the most consistent restaurants we have ever been to. The meals are prepared perfectly each time we come. The portions never change. We know we are going to have an outstanding meal everytime. There is one downside to this Fantastic Restaurant. If you are not in the Clique. You seem to be seated by the restrooms, the very crowded hostess station or by the front door. Please do not try to switch your mashed potatoes for augratin potatoes.They will fight you over that. lol. Other than that a GREAT Restaurant."

"Never had a bad meal here. It was a busy Friday evening, but our service was prompt and excellent. Salads were just right, steak was wonderful, and dessert (we split it) was a great end to the meal. We did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy the dinner conversation."

"There only seemed to be one waitress in our area, but she worked hard and kept our ice tea and coffees filled. This is my 3rd time at this restaurant and I've always enjoyed the food and service. We had the boneless short ribs with garlic mashed potatoes, Mahi Mahi ratatouille, & seafood penne. The short rib and penne were excellent. My husband liked the ratatouille, but said the Mahi Mahi was just good. To be fair, we usually like a different type of fish, but he wanted the ratatouille. Some prices weren't listed, but bill was reasonable($180/4entrees, 3 desserts, 2 appetizers, 2 coffees, tea, tax & tip). I'm not a food snob, but being from San Francisco, it's sometimes hard to find good restaurants in other areas. The food here was great."

"I was very dissapointed in the delay in serving our meal. We waited over 45 minutes from time we placed order. When we asked about delay the waiter was abrupt and said they had a large group in back. Good service demands you explain delays to customer before they have to ask! Restaurant was not busy, so staffing appeared to be an issue."

"We will be back! Great menu, almost too much to pick from. The only negative we had was that there wasn't a bartender, so when we ordered a night cap, we had to tell the waitress how to make it. It wasn't quite right, but I'm sure a real bartender would have made it correctly. Other than that, a great experience."

"Overall a pleasant experience. Hostess was not very helpful when I first asked for a different table because the seat be the window was too sunny and warm. "We arrived early and got a table quickly. Then we seemed to be forgotten. We had to ask for our bread, we had to remind our waiter that we ordered our drinks during happy hour and adjust our bill. The waiter seemed frustrated as he commented the bus boy was running late. Fish plate was excellent, lamb special was overlooked and nobody ever came to ask how are meals were prepared. Desserts were amazing! First cocktail was divine, second cocktail was nothing to speak of but waiter did not offer to make changes. Overall, if the wait staff learns to be more attentive it will be a spectacular destination.

"Not very good. I've been to Bistro close to a dozen times. Maybe something has changed? I split the beet salad with my partner. The frisee was withered, the vineagrette was too oily, the goat cheese was missing in action, just not a pretty or tasty plate. I ordered a monkfish special which was flavorless and overcooked. My partner ordered steak. This was an obscenely large portion dumped artlessly on a bed of potatoes which had too much garlic by half.
I came equipped with a gift card. My fault of course for not noticing, but after leaving the restaurant, a subtantial error had been made in favor of the establishment.
Bistro 234 has always been popular in a land short on decent dining. Maybe this was an off night."

"Overall the experience was eh, ok. The place looked pretty good being small and comfortable. The service though was under par. We showed up a lil early so sat at the bar. The service was slow and the place was not packed. When we sat, it took some time for our drinks that we ordered while at the bar to make it to our table. My date asked for steak sauce and it didn't come until much later when the waitress just remembered about it."

"Took my wife here for Valentine's. The specials menu had multiple options so I went with the braised short ribs. Words cannot describe!!! The red wine reduction... If an angel and a unicorn were to fall in love, and in that moment their overwhelming emotion caused them to shed tears and their tears mixed together... That's how I imagine the red wine reduction is created. We each got our own desert and they were also phenomenal. As for the cocktails, my wife loved her lemon drop; my jack n coke was a lil on the weak side, but I like my whiskey. It was a great night."

"Love the bistro, not so much the table by the kitchen. Servers were in and out directly behind our table working around us the whole night. I get it, fill the room with seats but that table, right in front of the access door to the kitchen is one I hope not to sit at again. "Weve been ordering the scallop appetizer for a while now and each time its been one less scallop, this last day we got 3 scallops which is fine if the price would be reduced. Besides being disappointed again with that i also only recieved 4 baby asparagus with my steak, usually its more. Please dont let the economy catch up with bistro like it has with other restaraunts. Id still recommend it and will be back again, but if it happens again it may be hard to return"

"Where do I start, the food, the bar, the service or the ambiance. My favorite place to eat in the valley. The food is always very good, the service is very friendly and helpful. The bar cocktails are the best in the valley and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic date with your wife or for the whole family to enjoy..."
