"This is very sophisticated restaurant in a very unsophisticated place. Owned by an Italian family (who's adult children are excellent at running the business too). The dishes are authentic Italian with an extensive wine list. You'll want the valet parking they offer because its otherwise very hard to find parking (and you don't want to be running across Sierra Highway unless you're a trackstar).
The outdoor patio is large and charming with lots of strategic sun shades and canopy walls. The service is excellent with an extensive (and well trained) wait staff. I noticed at one point no less than four people attending our table (of 4) at one time. The restaurant was completely full last Saturday at 6 pm. Highly recommend making res."

"First time great experience! Did not want to take the risk of disappointment to go to a well known steak house in the area which received some not so good reviews so I searched for other locations. A good distance from the main road approach and adjacent to a residential area made this place quiet and less busy. First time at the restaurant and the reviews proved to be right on! Place was very inviting, servers were very attentive, knowledgeable and accommodated our request to move to a more private corner. Food was very good but my steak was slightly overdone/dry for a medium/well but will order medium next time. If you like calamari for appetizer - one of the best that I have tried! My wife likes fine dining and she was very delighted!"

"Real Italian food, prepared well, with wonderful service. What more could you ask for?
The wine list is not extensive, but it has a reasonable selection, with a balanced emphasis on fine Italian wines beyond the usual Chianti: Nero D'avola, Barolo, Valpolicella, Montepulciani, etc.
The truffled rigatoni with sausages is to die for. So is the rigatoni alls norma. Be sure to leave room for dessert... the pastry chef is Sicilian, and you won't find more authentic Italian desserts in a 30 mile radius!"

"We revisited Piccola Trattoria for our anniversary: it was spectacular. The antipasto "cold cuts" were delicate slices of Italian deli meats: fresh, spicy and velvety in texture. The accompanying cheeses, salad and olives were the perfect foil for the meats. My husband ordered the wild-caught swordfish: baked in a lemony crust and presented on a bed of spring greens with a lemon vinaigrette. My pasta with squash blossoms and scallops was probably the best pasta dish I have ever had: the flavors ran the spectrum from vibrant to dark, and the sauce was delicate, rich perfection. We were honored with a lovely, classic cannoli for dessert and splurged on a panna cotta with fresh berries as well, which was perfect! A memorable feast!"

"This was my fourth and final time at Piccola and each time the experience has gotten less acceptable for dining. Sat outside this time and it was the first time it wasnt dark when I arrived at the restaurant. In short the surrounding neighorhood is like a ghetto with people pushing shopping carts with children in them down the street and kids screaming from the apartments across the street. In regard to the restaurant, the food was just OK, the meat balls were undercooked and tasted like bread filling with no meat and the pasta was also under cooked. This is the fourth time that the kitchen has undreooked a meal ordered, veal parm, chicken parm, chicken parm and spaghetti w/ meat balls. The table service was rushed, bus boys were a pain in"

"This is one of our favorite local restaurants. We're almost sorry it's gotten so well known, but we love it still. It was a real find and has continued to be a gem. We're not major patrons, but we do go for holidays and anniversaries--and just when we feel like it."

"This is our favorite spot! We eat at Piccola about once a week. The food is fantastic and we always save room for dessert. It is one of those intimate places, that after you have been a few times, they know you - know what you want, remember your favorite wine, etc. Everyone is so friendly and they just make it a special experience every time."

"My wife and I went to Piccola Trattoria the night before Valentine's Day and had an outstanding dinning experience. While we had wanted to go there for some time since those that had been there always had good things to say about the food. While I can be a bit snobby about restaurants, the ace exceeded my expectations with the food and the wait staff. They were knowledgable and attentive without being overbearing. But it is still about the food. I had a seafood and pasta dish that was outstanding in every way. The pasta was the perfect texture, not over cooked, and the sauce was flavorful and for me just the right amount. What made it amazing for me was the fresh taste of the shell fish and how it stayed hot to the last bite! Just great!"

"Beware of this restaurant if a relaxing evening is your plan. A nice evening with friends was ruined when rushed through dinner and dessert and then asked to leave. Plates taken away at two courses while we were still enjoying meal. Owner asked server to ask us to leave our table though we were still enjoying remainder of our wine and conversation. Offered us a glass of champagne to relinquish the table and move to bar though there was no one waiting and we were a small group. Unacceptable behavior from what is suppose to be a fine restaurant. Would definitely not work for a business meal either."
