Serving craft cocktails and featuring a dynamic group of wines and champagnes by the glass or bottle. Join us for lunch, after work cocktails, or late-night bottle service.
A food menu that is small plate themed produced by Culinary Concepts by Jean-Georges.
Reservations are accepted for parties of 5 or less via Opentable.com
Walk in parties are always welcome, although standing bar side and long wait times may be the only available option.
21 and over after 5pm. Dress code enforced nightly.
Reservation party size must be fully present in the Living Room of the W.

"This bar is an absolute must for anyone visiting the DC area. I took my friend visiting from San Diego, and he simply could not believe the views AND the fun atmosphere. The drinks are exceptional, the people are fun to talk with, and the view of the White House is unbelievable!! Must go!"

"Nice view. Went for Sunday brunch. Had one of the best Bloody Mary's I have ever had, at a "modest" $13.. Also paid $45 for two pieces of French Toast, two pieces of bacon and a brownie for dessert. I didn't expect the special at Denny' s or Ihop, but really? I could have gotten something pretty fabulous for that price somewhere without the view."

"During the time we were there, between 3:30 and 4:00 the music was BLAIRING. I asked the waiter if it could be turned down, they immediately said NO ~ without checking with management. That in and of itself was horrible customer service. Someone else must have complained because the music did stop for a while, then it was turned back on to the loud volume, then FINALLY turned down. It was not 10:00 on a Friday or Saturday night, it was an hour where people wanted to ejoy the view and chat.
Our champagne with St. Germain with a twist did not even have a chill on it!!! I should have sent it back, the waiter really should have taken better care of us.
I brought my client there to show off DC, instead it was a loud, HOT embarrasment!"

"I had been waiting for a very long time to finally get up to POV since it was renovated. We went for brunch and were really let down. First, the wait staff were not very attentive, expressionless, and didn't seem to want to be there . Considering what they charge, menu is mediocre. Pitcher of sangria was insipid. My companions got sandwiches; looked like a child put them together. I had the sundried tomato, asparagus, goat cheese omelette; bland, nothing memorable. The "first course" basket of miniature croissants and muffins was strange. While the croissants were ok the mini-muffins looked like they had been bought from COSTCO. At Noon a DJ appeared - very, very loud club music. I thought the club was after dark. Overall disappointing."

"First time for me and friend--view was nice, but the service was so bad that we joked about it for the rest of her visit. When we first arrived the hostess and her coworker completely ignored us for a full minute before acknowledging our presence with a slight attitude. The waitress was nice but her service was terrible--she forgot my drink order once (Blue Moon draft) and forgot my friend's order(vodka soda)during the next round. It took a total of 30 minutes after each order before we got our drinks-Sunday afternoon in April-not THAT busy. For a classy hotel, the waitresses should dress more classy--booty shorts and black hose did not flatter figures of most of the girls, and it looked tacky."

"The Views where beyond unbelievable, the staff was great and friendly when I arrived we where seated quickly and our server was on top of her game. The only downside was the weather,which they couldn't control, but other then that I had a great time and have recommended to everyone that this is a must place to visit while in DC."

"This was my second visit to POV and primarily the only reason for returning was for the view. If you are only having a cocktail and maybe a small bite or two and it is a beautiful day then go. Otherwise, make reservations elsewhere. The drinks are expensive but on par with other places in the area. However, those high prices come with terribly service. We waited 10 minutes for someone to approach our table and that was after going back to the hostess station to ask for service. At the hostess station 3 folks were happily hanging out chatting though - easy like Sunday morning. Our server was working very hard, but not sure where or what everyone else was doing. We saw a few other folks walking at a snails pace, looking aimlessly around."

"Disappointed that we weren't able to increase our reservation from 4 to 6. They suggested that "maybe" they could take walk-ins but we live in VA so to have two people travel in that may or may not get to sit with us was not ok. Once we were there it was clear there would have been room for 2 additional people. Poor service on that issue in my opinion."

"My wife had visited DC last year on business and suggested we head up because of the view and atmosphere. We took Grandma and our two boys ages 10 and 12 for an early dinner about 5:00 PM. Although the food, service and atmosphere were very good I found it not too family oriented. It seamed more suited for young hip singles due to the three bars and extensive wine and drink menu, while having a limited food menu. The view was outstanding overlooking the White House and surrounding areas. Overall we has a pleasant time, but more geared for singles. I bet it is really fun for happy hour and evening socializing."

"Great food. Not super fancy, which was fine. The menu for brunch was a little limited. I went with my wife and two 15 yr olds. Our meals where outstanding. The view was great but our immediate surroundings were ok. Looks like the room is a little better suited for drinks and finger food. It had small tables and intimate seating areas.

"We have been bringing out of town guests here since we moved to DC in October. Has a great view of the city. We did get a nice couch spot, but the only down side was that on the side we were sitting they hadnt put the "weather plastic screening" up yet so we had to stand up and go to a different section to get a good view. Other than that service was great, we did not eat this time, just had drinks."

"POV is the restaurant on the roof of the W Hotel in DC. The W's motto is "Whatever/Whenever." Apparently that means "we'll bring you whatever we feel like, whenever we get around to it."I went for Sunday brunch with wife and two kids. It took forever to get seated (we had a reservation), and it took 30 mins for the "waitress" to show up to take our order. She, along with all of the staff, seemed to be of the view that they were far to cool and hip to be waiting tables. I'm not sure this woman had waited tables before. She was totally incompetent. Three of the four dishes that she brought us were edible, the last was totally inedible, and was sent back. The only thing that was nice was the view. I would never eat her again."

"Very nice and comfortable. Terrific view of the White House. The service was excellent and the food was very good: tender, tasty and crunchy calamari; delicious artichoke & shiitake pizza; and yummy bacon, avocado & tomato sandwiches (club-like). The cocktails were superior - one of the best margaritas I ever had, and that also goes for the mojito. Extremely enjoyable experience."

"The view from POV is really one of the best in town! We were not in the Lounge for Brunch, but I imagine it would be a fun spot to grab a drink. Also imagine the ambiance would be even better in warm weather when it's opened up. Service was a little slow, but not bad. $35 Brunch package includes a pitcher of select cocktails, pastry basket, entree and desert - highly recommend the French toast!"

"I've rarely experienced worse service. The wait staff were impatient and rude. They forgot something after each interaction with us and then took 30 minutes to bring the forgotten item. When asked by my wife to turn down the stifling outdoor heater the waiter gave her a look, turned it down briefly (maybe it just automatically stopped at its too-high set temp) and then it was soon blasting away again. Very disappointing experience. We will not return."

"They made our visit extra special! This was an adventure for me and my son before he ships out to Afghanistan. They were very kind and attentive. We had a great table overlooking the white house and the service and food were excellent. We'll be back for his reentry meal when my son returns!"

"Great if you just wanted drinks and a partial view of the White House.
Went for a special occasion, but lighting too bright, a certainly a great place to go for cocktails, wine and chatting with mates.
Shame the sides were down so we couldn't see the view that well. Sure it's great in the summer, again with your mates.
Don't eat here though. Just small bites and they weren't too great either.
On another note, I really don't understand why they also use the worst pastic white tables and chairs... Not fancy at all."

"Great view of the city - would be better in nicer weather as they open the plastic flaps on the balcony. We had brunch on Sunday. Very friendly and diligent servers but food was so-so and very pricey for what you get. We would maybe go back for drinks at night in warm weather for the view but not for the food."

"Upon entry we noticed all patrons were wearing coats; the plastic balcony coverings were not secured to the floor and it was an especially windy day. Few, if any, of the heat lamps were on. After reading through the stain-ridden menus, our server came to our table. She did not make eye contact nor say hello. My date attempted to order a hot cocktail but the server responded with a monotone “We’re out of that.” She did not offer suggestions. We both ordered cold drinks. We sat shivering for another 15 mins with no drinks. I found our waitress and said to please cancel the drink order. She replied with a lifeless 'OK', we left and went to Old Ebbitt Grill. We will never be going back to POV Lounge and I would not recommend it to anyone."

"Go for the view alone. Don't expect much for food or service. Waited over 10 minutes a few times to get a drink. Waiter delivering our food apologized for not bringing our entire order...then delivered the portion they forgot the first time a half hour later, although they gave it to us for free. "My husband and I are huge fans of rooftop bars and try to visit at least one rooftop bar in every city we visit. The view from POV at the W Hotel in Washington, DC is outstanding-you feel the energy of being in the city, but yet the views of the White House and Lincoln Memorial provide a romantic atmosphere as well. We will definitely be coming back to POV during our next trip to DC."
