"We were only in NYC for the weekend and tried a few places. This was by far the best and ranks in my top 5 restaurant experiences. The datiles are "holy smokes awesome! The paella was one of the best I've had. Can't say enough! Great place and we'll be back when we're in NYC."

"Ordered it for two, mushy shrimp, two to three clamshells with non-existant contents, a few scattered mussels. The rice itself was okay, nothing remarkable. There are better paellas to be found in town. Plus, the noise level bordered on the uncomfortable, requiring a constant 'raised voice'. Okay Alberinos, slightly overpriced and slightly ungenerous in their 'pour'. Had one small plate of roasted baby beets with goat cheese and horseradish that was utterly unremarkable. Servers were reasonably attentive. A very big 'blah' would be my takeaway."

"The food is good, the service is good, and the atmosphere, while a little noisy, is good. The Paella was close to perfect while the Serrano Ham was perfect. Sala is highly recommened for all occassions."

"I stumbled upon Sala One Nine by accident after a long day of shopping in the Union Square area. This place requires reservations but also has a front bar only area which was quite nice. The food is always great there, consistent -- my new favorite are the scallops with the pistachio vinagrette! delicious!! I always have the bacon wrapped dates and the goat cheese plates and try additional plates as well. I haven't had the chance to explore the wine list/drink menu that deeply but, I still definitely recommend this place to all of my friends especially the foodies!"

"This place is now one of our favorite places to eat, and that says a lot in NYC. The bacon wrapped dates are only the beginning of a journey of great food from a diverse menu. Add a glass of wine of a festive drink and you're in business. Service is always excellent where the servers know their stuff, just ask their recommendations and prepare for a delicious meal!"

"Its hard not to like this casual tapas bar/restaurant. First of all, the guy behind the bar , charming and personable, kept an eagle eye on everything in the place: where the servers were, what came out of the kitchen, whose drink was almost empty. That sense of proprietary investment translated to the food: sizzling scallops in a parsley sauce, sauteed shrimps in a garlicky sauce, and yummy roast potato spears. This is the kind of place you can go and eat and drink expansively (as we are inclined to do) or you could nurse a couple of drinks and a dish for an hour or two and get away cheap. This is the kind of competent ethnic restaurant that deserves our dining support!"

"Very noisy is the only drawback. I think this may be the best tapas in NYC. Really amazing choices including some regular specials and delicious. Sooo many options tough to choose. We had 7 and one was a bit too salty but theo others were oustanding."

"This restaurant has really authentic Spanish tapas, and the interior is gorgeous! Perfect spot to grab happy hour drinks and tapas with friends, or a fun date place. The bar was very energetic and the service couldn't be more friendly. I'd definitely recommend Sala One Nine."

"Great atmosphere and yummy tapas! No complaints at all. It gets quite noisy, so maybe not the best place if you're on a first date or want somewhere intimate. My booking was for 7pm - it was fairly quiet then, but by the time we left at 9pm-ish, it was a lot louder and livelier! Highly recommend the dates and almonds wrapped in bacon... heaven on a cocktail stick!"

"I had an awesome dinner there on a Wednesday night meeting with and old friend. Our server was great, he was attentive but did not rush us since we had so much catching up to do. The food was delicious, I do not remember the last time I cleaned my plate. My last recommendation is order a pitcher of Sangria!!! The overall experience was a 10."

"The food was delicious, however our waiter seemed to forget about us. We got one small plate and then didn't get any other food for over half an hour. It was busy, but he simply forgot and then really didn't check back in. Another server finally stepped in to check in on us. It's a shame because the food is sooo good."

"I've tried and liked almost everything on the menu. Every server I've had has been friendly and knowledgeable and efficient. Service at the door could be improved but I think it is mostly due to how the entrance is set up. Love the loud and energetic ambiance."
