"We had a lovely romantic dinner at Lafayette. The room is elegant with a nice space between tables. The food was excellent and the staff is extremely well trained. They are knowledgeable about what they serve, are friendly, not stuffy, and they truly make you feel comfortable. Great evening!"

"In a word, exquisite. We booked brunch for a family trip to Washington without realizing it was Easter. What a sumptuous repast the Hay Adams delivered! The food was superb, the roast meats so tender they cut like butter, delicate sauces and condiments to accompany them, creative salads and side dishes, fresh caught sushi, delicious and beautiful desserts, all presented with elegance and in an expansive manner so one could move freely and enjoy the view of the skyline with the tables well spaced so no one felt crowded, too often the case with some brunches. The President and his family kindly capped off the meal by making an appearance for their annual Easter church service! Staff were most gracious and attentive. A memorable experience."

"The restaurant was lovely traditionally appointed room with a romantic live piano music during dinner. The food was from a special menu created for the Cherry Blossom Festival it was innovative appetizer and very good as was the rest of the meal. The whole menu and the wine pairing were spot on. The only disappointment was the view we thought the restaurant was at the top of the Hay-Adams hotel with a lovely view of Lafayette Park and the White House but it is on the ground level. The upper area is for special events only."

"This is an ultimate Washington power dining location. Breakfast for 4 was over $100 and all I ate was fruit. The prices for breakfast foods are beyond stratospheric and well into the ridiculous. But you go here for the location, and the ambience. I don't know what lunch or dinner would be like. As breakfast food goes it was well done and very nice but there's only so much you can do with eggs."

"The dining experience was amazing! The food was prepared to perfection with each course being served and presented in a very professional matter. The dining area was very intimate and relaxing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to family, friends and coworkers. Thanks Lafayette for a wonderful evening!"

"As one would suspect, the ambiance, service and setting was fantastic. We had the round table in a small cove with a great waiter. Unfortunately, the food menu was limited, and below the standards of what my wife expected. Wine selection was also less than A fine restaurant of this quality should have.
Sorry, we'll look elsewhere for a fine dinner next time."

"I wanted a quiet but stately, elegant place for dinner, with excellent food and service. Both were world-class. My friend was thrilled with the wine list (I am not an expert at all so I let her choose). Our server Eli was terrific. It was the most I've ever spent on a dinner and worth every penny."

"This place is a Washington institution and only steps away from the White House, we were in town for the inauguration and after researching to find a special restaurant for a special night I selected Lafayette. It is certainly worth a visit and worth every penny- to sample the class and charm of an "old World" classic. The food, service and ambiance was first class, the staff very professional and the dishes creative and fresh and the finishing touch is a piano player with a lovely medley of tunes. Certainly will continue to visit Lafayette."
