"Some parts of the meal were amazing, some parts of the same meal were mediocre. I would try again, maybe.....but I would stick with the seafood and steak possibly since that seems to be what S&S is more about. The lobster Bisque was amazing...Carolina BBQ sandwich...which the waitress recommended.....not so good...although the pickled onions on the sandwich were delicious."

"This place was awesome in every way. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. I had the Lobster Bisque; it was without a doubt the best lobster bisque I have ever had. Yes, it is slightly pricey but well worth every penney."

"this establishment overlooks the waters and city of tacoma, beautiful day or night. their maytag salad has been a group favorite over the past twenty years. the servers work as a team and it's not uncommon to have the manager stop by your table to ensure that the time spent is special. prices are on the high side, but they offer a happy hour with a wonderful house wine and a generous menu of half price appetizers. they have a "dine and eat out" program - make certain you join."

"We were there Mother's day 8:15 PM.
Service and food were excellent.
Ordered Peppercorn Steak and Prime Rib, both were cooked perfectly. Both were large portions.
Medium size PR was of course more expensive than the small, and the Steak was about $40.
At first bite, the Prime Rib seemed a bit too salty (oven roasted with Kosher (?) salt.
But there was no excessive fat and the meat was very tasty.

"Had Mother's Day on a Friday this year. Met at Stanley & Seaforts. They were very helpful at seating our party as we arrived. Had a wonderful Chardonnay from Sonoma. The Seafood etouffee was excellent. Portions were just right. Not too big, no too small."

"I had made reservations for 7:00 pm , arrived thetre at 6:50 at 7:20 I had to ask if there was a problem after several other couples had been seated befor us and arrived after we did.....we were also told after a half hour the kitchen was behind and it was almost an hour before we were served our meal afterr ordering."

"We visited on Mothers Day weekend and there were also HS Proms as well, but it took 2 hours to get our dinner. Other tables around us seemed to have faster service so this may have been a server problem.

"We went to S&S for an 11 am lunch. My mom and sister had salmon and rockfish, and both were wild caught and delicious. I had organic roasted chicken with risotto and it was very good. My son enjoyed the kid's salmon, and had fun with his coloring and activity sheet. The restaurant still serves their signature pea salad, it just does not appear on the menu. Key lime pie and some sort of superb chocolate cake finished our meals. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. The staff was all very friendly. We had a relaxing meal-90 minutes on a Friday without being rushed. If the spectacular view of Tacoma is your main reason for coming, request a view table when you reserve as a side seating area is used during really busy times."

"Stanley & Seafort's has a special place in my heart. Many years ago it was the one of a handful of places in Tacoma you would go to for a romantic date. I took my future wife there for dinner on our first date. They had to chase us out at closing time. Tacoma's restaurant selection has improved dramatically since then but Stanley's is always the place of choice for special occasions and important business lunches. That is why returning there this week to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary was a natural. The staff didn't have to chase us out at closing this time, but the experience was just as delightful. Our service was outstanding: attentive but not obtrusive. The food was. as always, conceived and prepared and presented very well."

"Went to S&S for the first time for our anniversary. I ordered Prime Rib, when it came out someone had decided I needed the horseradish on my food, I don't like horseradish. The waitress brought me another cut immediately which I appreciated! The prime rib however was horribly fatty and tough to cut, the veggies were dry. I had to do a lot of cutting and didn't end up with much to eat. I've had better food at a casino buffet sadly. My S.O. ordered the Dijon Chicken, it was decent. The best thing was the Creme Brulee! For the $ I expected a lot more quality and being an iconic place I was pretty let down. I've spoken to a few friends who've been there and they all said the same thing. The quality has dropped considerably apparently."

"Had dinner for our 25th wedding anniversary, had a lovely window table. The wait staff was proficient, courteous, swift and unobtrusive. He made several recommendations which we enjoyed. The food was wonderful, hot and very tasteful. They even presented us with a small anniversary card with a hand written note, very thoughtful. It had been about 15 years since we were there last as we did not live in the area until recently. I would certainly go again."

"We felt like we were a bit rushed. We were assigned a waiter, but then a different person came and took over. She didn't seem too excited to take our table. I only ordered iced tea for a beverage and we didn't order any alcohol. We were not made to feel like we were special guests, just a couple of people having dinner. We were not asked if we had any questions about the menu or told of any daily specials."

"I have been dining at Stanley & Seafort's fairly regularly for the past 6 years & have always had exceptional service. The personal service provided by staff is beyond wonderful. A special Thanks to our routine waiter Terry. He changed his schedule & came in earlier than his scheduled shift, just to help celebrate my birthday this past Saturday. He always remembers my favorite drink, Vanilla Blue Sky Martini, & has it ready for me without asking. The hostess greeted my party by name and sat us down immediately. The little extra touches and personalized service makes customers feel welcomed, appreciated, and that staff really cares about their customers. Thank you for making me and my friend welcome and feel a part of the Stanley's family!!!"

"We have been here twice before and I actually made the decision to dine here based on the warm pear bread pudding which I love. Our food was wonderful: the wedge salad was so fresh and the filet melted in your mouth. The atmosphere was relaxed and we love the view. I must say that our waitress Kristy was awesome! She was so friendly and helpful when we had questions, so attentive; I couldn't say enough nice things about her. She helped in making the evening special. (We took home the bread pudding.)"

When I asked, we were provided with black napkins. Wearing black pants or a black skirt and being presented with a white napkin equals a lot of lint. Suggestion:check what the guests are wearing and offer a black napkin rather than making guests ask for one would be top notch service."

"If you are going for a special ocassion and know you will be paying alot of money for not much food, then this is a neat place with excellent service and a nice view. The portions are small, especially their large sampler appetizer(almost 40 bucks and not much on the plate for everyone to share). The food is good, well prepared and seasoned, just not much of it. I guess it must be for people on diets, or dainty eaters. Our waiter was excellent, quick and at the ready with more water, etc. if needed and very professional. Might go back in 5 years for the next special ocassion?"

"We came especially for the Century of Port flight (10, 20, 30, 40 year old Taylor Fladgate), after having had that experience at Simon & Seafort's in Anchorage. We were truly not disappointed, as both our server and Scott, the magic behind the bar, bent over backwards to explain the port and help us understand the differences in those two experiences. The port flight was dessert, so I have to speak to the rest of the meal as well: British Columbia salmon stuffed with crab and served over garlic smashed Yukon Gold potatoes and steamed green beans...just perfect with the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay we paired with it. Stanley & Seafort's is now our "must do" restaurant when we are in Tacoma."

"Not only were our meals wonderful, the service was super! Our waiter had a great feel for when we needed something, and when we needed to be left alone. Great personality. Our meals were fantastic. Lots of us joined the "empty plate" club. And the complimentary birthday dessert was fabulous. Never a huge fan of creme brulee, but I'd order it at Stanley & Seafort's. Just a super dining experience!!"

"My food was cold when it arrived at the table. I hate complaining but I was paying $30.95 for three scallops with "smashed potatoes" and greens. The potatoes and greens were barely warm. The staff was very gracious about taking my food back and prepared an entirely fresh plate. The food was then at least warmer. However, the potatoes were gluey and spread all over the plate. The greens "kale" were good and well seasoned along with the delicious bread. But the enjoyment of my meal was spoiled by the incident. I sat and watched my husband eat his prime rib while I waited for my hot food. His potatoes were also gooey and runny. And I feel $30.95 for three medium sized scallops was a bit too steep."

"The steaks were phenomenal. The salmon special was smoked/cured and my mom didn't realize it until she got it. Unfortunately she did not like.
The table mise en place could use some work. Several unnecessary forks and plates were left all over the table. It got very very crowded."

"We went for our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was a perfect evening. Our server-in-training was not pushy or annoying. She made excellent recommendations and was very sweet and helpful. The food was excellent and everything arrived within the right time of each other. Just from casual observing I saw how helpful the staff was to each other and how professional they were within eye and earshot of a customer. It was a perfect evening and I cannot wait to go back."

"I keep coming back hoping that I will get the same great food and service I once had. Their problem is consistency. Either you get good food and awful service or vise versa or catch them on a great night and all is great or a bad night and its all bad. Food comes out cold or not cooked the way you've asked or the server hasn't a clue how to serve. One meal in 5 is perfect. All others have some annoying issue that just taints the one good experience. I am not picky but when it comes to a $$$ restaurant I expect the servers to know on which side I should be served, not to reach across the table to bus over someone still dining, not to rest the bottle on your glass when pouring, not to incessantly recommend an item and much more."

"A birthday brunch/lunch to our daughter and her fellow. We were treated like VIPs. Had a window table with a glorious view of Tacoma and the bay. The service was wonderful. The food was just mouth warteringly splendid, especially the spaghetti bolognese. The creme brule` birthday desert provided by S & S with it's side of fresh fruit and whipped cream was the perfect palate pleaser to top off a wonderful meal. S & S is the best!"

"The service was very good, the oysters were fresh and very good as well (Oysters were the reason for a fair rating and not a poor). Our server was friendly and prompt which is always appreciated.
The entrees were a miss. My mom had the lobster bisque and it was so salty she didnt enjoy it. I got the clams and the sauce was also extremely salty, which for me ruins the dish.
When visiting this area again I would probably not return."

"I had a good experience the waitress was very knowledgable about the food and drinks. The service was great until we said we did not want any dessert. I felt like maybe the waitress was made to push a certain amount of appetizers, meals, and drinks in one visit per person. It felt like she was trying to sell us a whole bunch of things that we were just not interested in. Her attitude seemed to get a little sour when we said no dessert. I would not go back again, the food is over priced for a single mom's budget and the sour service towards the end turned me off. I understand the food has to be marked up in price, but I think that there should be be more affordable options for ALL genre of people."

"Stanley & Seafort's is a Tacoma icon and one that we looked forward to trying. It was not a disappointment. The food was excellent, customer service seemed like we were the only ones in the restaurant, and for a brunch on Easter, they had a wonderful selection to choose from. Excellent restaurant.
