"My wife and I celebrated a belated Valentines dinner here and enjoyed the experience immensely. The view of the city was incredible at night, the booth we enjoyed was cozy and warm, and the service was impeccable. We both enjoyed the filet mignon with lobster which were cooked to perfection and was perfect with the wine that the waiter had expertly recommended. We both are long time residents of Washington State yet this was our first time at Stanley & Seafort's...we will be back again very soon!"

"My boyfriend and I went to celebrate a delayed Valentine's Day. (He was traveling for the actual one.) Every employee we encountered...the valet attendants, the hostesses, the servers in the bar, our dinner waiter, Terry, were genuinely attentive.
The majority of the food was incredible. The King Crab and Artichoke Dip, Teriyaki Tenderloin, Halibut Cheeks and New York Steak were all so flavorful and prepared perfectly.
The atmosphere of the restaurant began exactly as we were expecting...romantic, intimate without being pretentious. And, the view is to die for. However, right before our dessert arrived, a group of six sat right behind us. We could no longer hear ourselves speak.
Overall, highly recommend for a fun night out."

"Our only complaint was that we made a reservation far enough in advance requesting a window table for our anniversary, but when we arrived we were given the option to take a seat away from the window immediately or wait until another party finished dessert and paid before getting the window seat we requested. We took the seat immediately because we were hungry and proceeded to watch a table clear within five minutes. We didn't ask to be moved, but couldn't help but wonder if all the parties by the window had made a reservation like we had. I believe a reservation with a request should be honored and on time, especially when a confirmation is extended. That, to me, is as good as an agreement."

"This was our first experience dining at Stanley and Seafort's after looking at it up on the hill as we drove past for years on I-5 below. We made a reservation a week in advance for dinner after a lovely matinee at The 5th Avenue in Seattle.

We were through early at the 5th Ave., so we called on our cell to get our reservation moved up an hour. S & S accomodated us very willingly and we had a wonderful dining experience. We plan to return on a regular basis and bring friends as well.

"I was not thrilled with the taste of the food. Very bland..... I had not gone to the restaurant for a long time (over 10 years)for the same reason. About 4 months ago we decided to try the restaurant again and loved it. When we went last Thursday it was as bad as it was years ago. Way too expensive for bland food!"

"We were seven people celebrating seven birthdays... four siblings and our three spouses all have birthdays in a two month time span. We have dinner during that time to celebrate together.

The food was great...the service was greater! Nothing was too much trouble and everything was delivered in a timely professional manner...piping hot and beautiful. We were particularly impressed with the seven desserts delivered with a lighted birthday candle in each one....we had not ordered these... they were complimentery and wonderful
too! We would recommend this restaurant for any occassion.. for any reason!"

"We went to Stanley and Seaforts for our 18th wedding anniversary. We heard so much about the romantic view from other people. The meal and the service were the best we ever had by far. Can't compare to any other restaurant we can think of. We went for the view of Tacoma and the waterfront below the restaurant and we were stuck in a corner as far from the front windows (the view) as they could get us. We had a view of the corner 2 walls. $150 for a "romantic?" 2 person anniversary meal, we won't be back. Very frustrating.

"The food was great. Our waiter was personable, timely and attentive. Checking in was easy and we were seated a little early with a choice. Our time in the waiting area was not as positive an experience. We tried to wave down a bar waitress for a drink without success for an abnormally long time."

"This restaurant has the best food I have ever had! It has a great view of Tacoma if you sit in the front half of the restaurant, although don't get seated in the back because the only view you will have is the other customers. But overall it would be one of my top picks for a special occasion if i want to go out for some GREAT food and don't mind spending a little money. Happy Hour in the bar is a great time to go too if you don't want to spend so much money! Half priced appitizers! woo hoo!"

"We arrived ten minutes late on a very busy Valentine's Day. The restaurant did not seem to have a problem with that and went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a beautiful window seat overlooking the city, service was excellent and food was delicious. A wonderful meal and ambiance too!"

"food was good, service was alright, the thing that i remember most it was to crowded and the way the tables were set up always had someone right behind me while i was trying to eat. we had a 7:15pm reservation and we did not get seated until 730pm. they have a waiting area with few seats, parking is terrible and the area is not a good area to be walking at night. overall i would just this place is alright, nothing special."

"We were dissapointed. It was a special night for our 36th Wedding Anniversary and wanted this dining to be a special event. I went on line, made reservations, with no problems, and asked for a nice table overlooking the city to facilitate the occasion. We were greeted and seated promptly. However, we were seated in front of the pillar that supports the buliding and could not see the city lights unless you made an effort to lean over to do so. Very dissappointed with that. Moreover, we had the steak and mashed potatoes but the steak had too much grissel. For the $ 165.00 price we paid for two we did not get what we thought we were going to."

"Made reservations for window seats as usuall, did not happen again. Made resevations for 5:00pm. Arrived 10 min. early, was informed that all window tables were taken. Noticed that 5 tables of four or six seating were occupied by two persons, and also informed that they just ordered there food. I was very dissapointed. This was for my 34th ANNIVERSAY, which we have had for numerous years at your restu. Last year was in Texas. This was just poor plannning by your HOST."

"I always like Stanley's. The view changes daily, we are in Washington, and the daily specials are usually very inventive and tasty. I would never turn someone away from here.

Their steaks are always very well-prepared, nicely cut, and seasoned well. Flavor mixes are usually very interesting. I always recommend the crab dip appetizer and the french onion soup. Seafood selections vary by season and are always fresh and appealing."

"Our server Matt was on the ball, the food was perfect both in taste and how it was prepared and it was well worth the slight delay in getting it (it was Valentines weekend and very busy even at 8:30pm)This is the only reason for 4 not 5 stars in this area.

We will be returning in the future. Both times the service has justified the 25.00 tip we have left. I can say that for no other place we have eaten.

"It was my wife's 40th birthday and she really enjoyed the herself and the food.I really like the fact that the food doesn't come out all together and we were given time to eat the food and enjoy it before the next thing came out. Also the steak was great and the lamb was great too."

"Had a ceasar salad could not bite through any of the croutons.. told the waitrss about it, but she didn't seem to care.. except to say she'd mention it to the kitchen staff. The new york i paid $39 for, was terrible.. was spongy and no flavor at all.. I asked for med well, and got med.. my husband asked for med and got well.. he had the filet mignon and crab.. she brought the candle for the butter.. but no butter.. could not have been a worse experience..it was our 35th wedding anniversary.. terrible experience...unhappy we chose this place."

"We chose Stanley & Seafort's for our annual company dinner this year. For a group of 9 the service was great (though our waitress was a bit high strung). I don't think any of us had a complaint about the food or drinks. Nothing was forgotten and everything tasted fabulous. We ordered the appetizer sampler - OMG, the crab/artichoke dish was to die for!

The womens' room left a bit to be desired and parking is treacherous. Overall, however, we highly recommend it."

"All the meals were fabulous - probably the BEST prime rib I've ever had! And thos red jacket mashed potatoes had such a wonderful taste! Our server was excellent - very attentive but not overbearing! I love a server that notices when you need something and just brings it-like refills on bread and sodas.
When our server arrived, she asked "what special occasion are we celebrating tonight?" I had told them in the reservation that it was my husband's birthday, but I was surprised that she already knew. There was a "celebration" card in the middle of our table (that's how they knew) but I was so impressed with how they do this - very subtle but very classy. Very excellent overall! A little pricy, but oh so worth every penny!"

"To cause us to choose to visit Stanley & Seaforts there usually needs to be a special occasion and then of only 2 to 4 persons. The noise level with more than four is too high in the main dining area at the dinner hour for intimate converstation. Those we bring with us are always impressed with everything about S & S but remark on the level of noise.
Over 20 years of visits we and our guests have had many good times and even the larger groups have not been good. Thanks for the memories."

"Our experience was excellent. My wife and I had steak. Cooked to perfection. The starter salad is generous enough for two people to share. The bread was served pipping hot. The garlic and butter was pre melted over the bread. Very good. The staff was very friendly. Our waiter provided excellent service. He informed us that the kitchen was running behind and that our main dish would be delayed. We did not notice the delay but it was nice that he informed us. Expect to pay $40 per plate. Starch comes with the main dish all other side dishes you pay extra. We had an excellent time."

"Celebrated our 28 Anniversary at Stanley and Seaforts. Was greeted when we first stepped into the restaurant and by numerous staff once inside. Had a window table with a terrific view of downtown Tacoma. Our waiter brought us a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary and a complimentary creme brulet. The food was terrific as was the service. Some of the best we have ever been served. It is a bit pricey but well worth it for a special occasion."

"We picked Stanley and Seafort's to celebrate our fist wedding anniversary. It was the first time both my husband and I had ever been there, even though we've lived in Bremerton our entire lives. We had a wonderful experience, and can't wait to go back. Our server, Erik, really was the icing on the cake. He was courteous, anticipated our every need and filled every request. What a guy!!! When we go back, we will request his table again! Two thumbs up!"

"My family and I always enjoy dining at Stanley and Seaforts. The service is friendly and excellent. The food has been consistently outstanding. We always bring our out of town guests and relatives for a truly enjoyable dining experience. "The only problem that made the night less than perfect was the fact that they charged me 30 dollars for a shot of medlo whiskey that I never ordered. I don't drink anything other than wine so I didn't appreciate the charge. It was very dim in the resturante so I didn't catch it while I was there.

I may not go there again for that reason."

"Top notch as always but for 8 of us to be sat at a long table made it impossible to have a conversation with everyone. The restaurant was full and a little loud. I wish we had been seated at a round table. Food was excellent. Cocktails were excellent. Service was top notch. The view from the hill is beautiful. For two of us, cocktails, salad (which does not come with the meal), main course, dessert and the tip it came to around $150."

"3 of us had very good food but our 4 th member had ordered pasta it was sooo dry he could not eat it. He did not take left overs home. You better check your hot pasta salads. "I made a reservation at 12:15 p.m. When we were arrived on time, we waited about ten minutes to be seated. Then the food was not served until 1:30 p.m. I got attention from the server and told him about waiting time. He went to back to check, and brought food right away. It was lunch time and both of us went to back to work in great hurry. I was not very happy about the waiting time.... especially when I have another commitment after lunch."

"The food was ok. I had the fish and chips, the fish filets were very thin and small. My son who is 4 y.o. had the chicken tenders and fries, fresh fruit was suppose to come with his meal and he did not get it. My wife had the crab and arthichoke dip sandwich and she enjoyed it. For desert I had the key lime pie and that was great it was light and fluffy my wife had the burnt cream and she enjoyed it very much."

"We had a reservation for 1:00 pm, and got seated about 45 minutes later. They were quite busy, and were out of the daily soup and several other "specials". The salmon was too rare even though the server requested that it be prepared medium. They were not up to our expectations on that day. We were seated at a window table. The view was great. A heater kept us warm above our knees, but our feet froze."

"Our food was excellent, the service was great. It was a bit noisy but there were several parties going on.
In the past the restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas and now there was one garland and a tiny artificial tree stuck in a corner. Very disappointing holiday ambiance. The reservations were just what were requested. I would book thru you again."

"The restaurant service and atmosphere was really great, the prices for their food was a bit outlandish, $9.00 for a starter salad.....and the portion of side vegetables and potatoes were extremely small for the cost of the overall meal.

I compare this with other restaurants I go to often and pay far less so I wouldn't go to this restaurant but once every couple years and for only special occasions."

"Due to road blockage/detour signage, it was unclear how to get to Stanley's until we called, and confirmed we could drive past the blockage signs. At the restaurant, the waitress was very nice, though after ordering a specific 05 Merlot, brought the same winery's Chardonnay. She returned with the correct wine, but only had the 06; disappointing. We had three in our party, and all of us agreed the food was only "OK". I had the lamb, and the shanks were very small, and not that flavorful. My other two guests had the stuffed chicken and salmon, and both were not memorable. For the price, the food was well below standards, and there are a lot better options in the city, with better accessability. This was my first visit, and likely my last."

"The over all experiance was great! the only big dissapointment that I had for the evening was that when I made the reservations for my wife's and I three year anniversary I had asked for a window seat, but upon arrival they set us in a booth as far away from the windows as possible, so make sure when you make your reservations to keep calling to make sure they get you a window seat of thats what you want. I must say that the food and server's were fantastic! It was the best dinning experiance that I have ever had!"
