Osteria 177
Osteria 177 is the ultimate expression of an Italian tavern where the main attraction is imported delicacies of one-of-a-kind food and wine. Adorned by barreled wine, an Osteria would never lack the sought out local specialties, spices, cheeses, fish or meats. It was here that many people tried to alleviate life's stresses by numbering themselves with good food, good wince, and good company. The owner/chef of the Osteria would take the utmost pride in stocking these praised elements as the basis for mouthwatering meals, a delicious dance-for-all of the five senses. "Made a 2:00 reservation for 6 for Father's Day.
Two of the party were running 15 minutes late when the server came over and informed us the kitchen as closing in a few minutes and we had to order now or not eat. We scrambled to get some appetizers when the rest of the party arrived. My entree was both the most expensive ($39) had the worst one on the table. A small, dry, overcooked warm water lobster tail, two over cooked shrimp,linguini and tomato sauce. Two people had filets and they were happy. Wine was good, and desserts were nice.
3 people complained of being cold in the restaurant. Price was high. I do not know how people can rate this place so good!
Will not return."

"We had a place in Annapolis where we had gone for years, but it must have been the recession that changed it for the worse. We hung in there longer than we should have, but finally had to bail. We had just about given up on Annapolis because it takes us at least 45-hour each way, so its got to be worth it. I don't give up on anything (maybe some people)without a fight, so last week, we made a reservation at Osteria. I'll just say that from the moment we walked in, till we paid the check, everything, I repeat everything was just right. We had everthing but desert, not even the bus people missed the boat. We will go back, but not too soon. A restaurant like this is special, we don't want to overdo a good thing. Need I say more."

"Osteria 177 is magnificent. Its decor is captivating with its mauve interior walls, subdued lighting and its pleated curtains framing its windows. The furniture is ergonomically compatible to soothe a sore back and prevent slouching that some overstuffed chairs and booths allow. The service is beyond superb. Our server, Sabrina, was charming as she was professional and adhered to our even smallest need. The entries are exceptional. Osteria produces a large list of specials daily. We had the Sea Bass and the Duck Breast. Both were beyond outstanding. This exceptional dining establishment more than met our expectations for a truly delightful Mother's Day celebration. This restaurant is not for the inexpensive but is worth the splurge."

"We dined at Osteria 177 on a Thursday night before a performance at the Rams Head Tavern. This was our first time and we thoroughly enjoyed it! While a live jazz combo played, we enjoyed a lovely meal. Starting with a fresh, creative gin/cucumber cocktail (Floozie), continuing with fresh salads and onto our main dishes. I had the cioppino, which was superb and the spicy tomato broth was definitely worthy of dunking that crisp french bread into! Our only regret was that we didn't have time to enjoy a relaxed dinner and stay for desert! We'll definitely be back. Service was excellent; they acccommodated our tight timeline graciously and even validated our parking at Hillman garage."

"Excellent food, and the service was also very good. I'm not much of a white wine drinker, but it seemed the wine list was notably short of white wines by the glass. Also not many red wines by the glass. But several pages of wines by the bottle. Now that Maryland lets you take the bottle of wine with you when you leave the restaurant, I guess that means the entire wine list could be considered "by the glass". But frankly, once a bottle of wine is opened at my table, I can't recall very many times that there would have been anything left to take home!"

"We've been coming here for years and have always been pleased with its stellar, consistent quality. The Branzino is spectacular! For a treat, have the server de-bone it table side. I prefere to do it myself relishing in finding the tiniest morsel. Cocktails are well crafted & the wine list quit sufficient. The server gets the vibe from the table on whether you like discretion or more social intercourse. Perfect. There is something on the menu for every taste with copious daily specials. Prices, however, for this fixed income patron, have been steadily rising. But we always manage to find something delicious within our range."

The so so sauvignon blanc was priced at $12 a glass, an amount I pay for an entire bottle of a better sauvignon blanc at my wine retailer. The double espresso, which was small, was priced at $7.00, more than half of the amount I pay for an entire pound of very good espresso beans. This restaurant is a very poor value for the money if one has wine and espresso with the meal."

"This is a great place of a nice dinner on main street in Annapolis! My husband and I recently ate here while on a weekend trip to Annapolis and loved this place! Great service from the hostess that greeted us to the server who offered great suggestions on the menu! Everything we ordered was delicious! I had the special sea bass and my husband had one of the specials as well which was a pasta with swordfish! Would definitely recommend!"

"We enjoyed a wonderful dinner Friday evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. Everything was of the highest quality from the bresaola to the buffalo mozzarella flown in from Italy. The cioppino was excellent and the cinghiale was better than I remembered from my first visit. The panna cotta was quite unique with the addition of spices. "Cocktails/food very good. Compliments to the bartender for his Campari w/house-made mixer. As a first time diner, we read the reviews and were impressed. When we were seated, the waitress was right there. After we ordered, it took over 30 minutes to be served our Caesar salads - in fact I requested anchovies and did not receive them. We tried to flag down the waitress, but she was busy filleting a fish at the neighboring table. By the time she got back to our table, I had finished the salad. It took another 30 minutes to be served our entre, which was excellent. The place was crowded, but we saw other waitstaff who were much much more attentive to their tables."

"Osteria 177 is probably one of the best restaurants in Annapolis. The food is stellar and the service great. Dont expect to feel rushed here. Relax and enjoy your food the way you should! Our server was very genuine and had a great aura about him. He apologized if things were running a little slower than he liked, but then followed up with a quick return and a smile. The Branzino was spectavular and so was the swordfish. Great bread and Olive Oil too! Top notch place for sure!"

"Without question, the best italian restaurant in the Baltimore/Washington area. This is not your "Momma Leone's meatball and red sauce" restaurant but rather, a sophisticated and authentic italian dining establishment. It isn't surprising that the wait staff has remained with the restaurant for a number of years - they do that well here. The specials are always well thought and seasonal. Do not miss the chance to dine here."

"Couldn't get in for dinner in the middle of the week in March (start early) but found out why at lunch. Dmitri, our waiter, made several recommendations, egg washed noodles with boar meat red sauce for me and a white cream sauce over pear dumplings for my guest. The pasta is handmade here and careful attention is made to all the small details. Definitely a 'go back'. Lunch portions were good sized and no room for dessert sadly!"

"Thanks for another great meal. As a former New Yorker and current Annapolitan, there are only three restaurants on my A-List in Annapolis. Osteria 177 is Number One! The food is amazing and such great attention is given to quality and presentation. The staff are knowledgeable and warm. "Visiting Annapolis this past weekend. So happy we found Osteria 177. Food was delicious, especially the pasta dishes. The wonderful staff from Mia the hostess to our attentive waitress Sabrina, made this restaurant outstanding customer service wise. A special shout out to the kind male waiter who helped assist our elderly friend exit the restaurant. This truly is a neighborhood "gem" and we will return when back in Annapolis."
