"Ever since I heard of Vernon's I wanted to go. I thought it would be fin to dress up in period clothing with a group of people and have a fun night out. Then I saw the trailer for The Great Gatsby. What a better time to put my plan into action. Unfortunately I had to wait 6 months for the movie to come out. A few of my friends were really excited about the movie too. We almost missed it because we were shaving so much fun st Vernon's. I was told before that it was way over priced. True, I never spent that much money eating out but it was worth every penny. I think I'll have to set go another 20's night soon."

"My husband and I had a reservation for 6:45 on a Saturday to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary. We got there on time and were asked to wait in the bar. No problem. After 25 minutes we were getting antsy. After 35 minutes my husband was getting angry. About the time we were going to ask a staff member came through the bar calling another name (and then a different name, neither one was ours). A couple got up for the second name called but not the first. A few minutes later a staffer came up and asked us our name. When we told her, we were informed that another couple (the ones who didn't respond to the later call) had taken our reservation. This was NOT the restaurant's fault, but it ruined the evening."

"I took my wife to this location for our aniversary and I checked the web site menu before we attended. The issue is that the food was not worth the $$$$ value. The amount of $$$$ spend I could have fed my entire family.
The other issue is the upsale during the meal - the waiter continued to try and upsale our experience. I for one like to go to a diner, enjoy the food and atmopshere but not be up sold to purchase more product - just a wrong approach
Sorry but will spend my funds at another establishment - lower the price"

"Website stated not for kids under ten. We got a sitter planning on enjoying a night without kids. Imagine our surprise when we were sat next to a table with a toddler! Prices were high also, 200 for two and only one cocktail. Better off going to outback with the kids!"

"We had so much fun! The waitstaff was awesome. They were so cool. They were professional but so helpful and friendly. I felt very at home. It was swanky and dark and there was jazz playing. I would go back for dinner for another special occasion but I'd go back for tapas at the bar anytime. I loved that the menu was really just a base guidline and the waiter was really knowledgable about all the added, extra things that were not on the menu. It was the coolest place I've ever been and the food was spectacular!!!"

"We have dined at Vernon's several times and always look forward to going back. The staff at Vernon's never rush you. You are allowed to linger and enjoy your evening. "Steaks were cooked perfectly. Side veggies were barely room temp and some bites were actually cool.
If you want a very quiet evening with the ability to converse, request a table away from the entertainment stage. The duo was good and they really tried to lower the sound level, but it just didn't work for our table which was closest to the stage. I'm sure it's difficult to make it loud enough for the lounge area but quiet enough for the tables."

"Service was fair. We were aware if the prices since we had dined here before but the steaks were not close to being worth the prices charged. Vegetable side consisted of some carrots. My New York was rare instead of medium rare and very fatty. My wife's cocktail was good, beer was cool at best.
For a tab that was equal to that of Mastros and just slightly less than Palm I expected much more. This place is far from either of those."

"Went to Vernon's for our anniversary. The service, atmosphere and food were great!!! It is actually like an old-time speakeasy. They call to confirm your reservation or e=mail you with a password to get in! We were seated in the Diamond Lounge so the live music only added to the occasion. The waiter was attentive and on top of everything! It is pricey, but worth it. The food was delicious and well prepared. Definitely a destination for a special event or just something a bit different."

"I have dined at Vernons several times over the past few years, it has been consistently sketchy. One time the food and service are great, next time it is god awful. This last visit was terrible. The waiter wouldn't shut up, the "Veal Piccata" was dreadful. I could have had better Veal Piccata at a truck stop in Fargo with a server who would know when to shut up.

"We were sat next to a large party and the noise was too loud. Our waiter had to yell the specials at us. Not very good for such an expensive place. It would be nicer to have large parties (over 8) in a separate room or at least away from other diners. My father is hard of hearing and wears hearing aids and we weren't able to converse all night even though we were a smaller table of four."

"I ordered the rack of elk, and I was disappointed with it. I realize that farm raised elk is mild in flavor, but that was not a problem. Rather it was the quality of the cut. Frankly, the rack was tough, and it contained a fair amount of tendon/gristle. Having had both wild/hunted elk as well as other farmed elk, this was not one of the better elk meats I have had, and I have had roasts, steaks, filets, and other cuts so it is not that I am inexperienced in eating elk meat. Perhaps Vernon's would do better to offer another cut of elk rather than the rack. The dry fig sauce that was offered with it was also in my opinion not the best sauce to accompany it. A red wine sauce would probably have been better at enhancing the flavor."

"After waiting 40 minutes for food, my $47 rub eye looked like it had been sitting for 30 minutes it was actually dry on the outside and Luke warm as well as the salad was warm... I do not recommend it for food or service quality for such a high dollar restaurant the waiter looked 18 and did not know what he was doing. Unless you are willing to pay way too much for a meal to go through a metal door and have jackamo give you his comical spiel don't bother going... The $70 steaks may get better attention and won't be left out for 30 minutes before bring served so try ordering that and maybe just maybe it'll be worth the $70."

"3 out of the 4 of us had a good experience. My husband ordered a New York Strip, medium rare, itwas well done. The server took it back and brought a new one. It was maybe medium well. The server asked if it was alright, could see it wasn't rare at all, and told him, "Oh, we'll it'll be rarer in the middle." My husband did not want to make any more of a deal about it since we had guests and didn't want to ruin their experience. Also, by this time everyone else was almost finished with their meal. He did not feel that the server was very competent. And I had a feeling that she held us in contempt, after we declined to order any wine. As it happens, our guests do't drink for religious reasons. For the cost, he should have had a perfect steak."

"I always enjoy going to Vernon's, because they make it fun to be there. Wait staff is outstanding, enjoyed one of my favorite music groups, the food, as always, is cooked perfectly, and it's always has a very romantic feel to it. I have often recommened Vernon's to others who have gone there and enjoyed it just as much."

"Vernon's was a great choice to celebrate my wife's birthday! the ambience was terrific. This restaurant is on the pricier side which seems perfect for special occasions. You are required to have a password to get in and the old mafia gangster ambience was a refreshing break from the usual restaurant scene in Albuquerque. Good food. Sme of the add-ons to the meals seem overpriced. We added shrimp to the steak. Three (3) shrimp will set you back $20. There was a gentleman who played piano when we were there. It set a more romantic atmosphere.

"Vernon's Hidden Valley Steakhouse is truly a GEM! The ambiance is the best I've seen and each table situated perfectly for a Romantic Meal. The food was fantastic and the waiter and all the employees were incredible. A great place to celebrate a special occasion or for any time."

"My husband and I went for our anniversary. Service was not great but maybe our waiter was giving us privacy because of our special day. Prices were extremely high. After dinner someone came by and gave us a slice of cake (for our anniversary). We didn't order it but we paid for it. If I would have know I had to pay, I would have ordered something I liked not what they gave us. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful but I don't think I will be going back. To us, the prices were outrageous for the food."

"The entire experience was the best I've ever had in New Mexico! Probably top five I've had ever. The dark speakeasy ambiance was super cool, the wait staff extremely attentive without being overbearing, and the food was terrific. The dry aged steaks were best I've had in New Mexico!"

"Loved the Speakeasy theme. Was very fun and different. We ate in the lounge area during the performance so I can't speak to the noise in the restaraunt. Bar was lovely with great drinks and fabulous ambiance. My steak was not the best but other items were tasty. The jazz trio, Entourage, was fantastic! Will definitely visit again when I am next in town."
