Lebanese Taverna DC has re-opened after an extensive renovation to the entire restaurant. Located directly across from the Woodley Park metro, this location now offers a 13-seat bar, lounge and seating for 130 people. Great for groups of all sizes and offers a private room for seating up to 56 people.
"Unfortunately, the service wasn't great on the night we went and I wasn't blown away by the food. For a restaurant that I was excited to check out, I left feeling meh. The hummus and baba ganoush is good, but I wasn't blown away. The food otherwise was pretty good but not great. The outdoor seating is definitely nice though - would recommend anyone going to sit outside."

"We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food, both of which were pretty solid. The first time we went we conservatively ordered the tasting platter and a smaller dish (don't remember at the moment), and we were so pleased with them that we came back the next day and ordered larger entrees - it did not disappoint, passed our 'sophomore test'. I would say that the quality stands up to middle-eastern places in NYC (where we live), so we were happy."

"We enjoyed both food and atmosphere at Lebanese Taverna. The chef's platter provided 9 tastes of common delights (e.g., grape leaves, falafel, hummus, etc.) and was delicious with the beautiful pita on the table. Many gluten-free options for those who care about such things (not I). For dessert, I enjoyed the bread pudding. I would return to eat here again for sure."

"Our group of 4 shared the taste of... platters. The flavors and presentation were absolutely outstanding. And, those "bites" were enough for dinner for all of us. Atmosphere was very pleasant; the contemporary, comfortable renovation made for very pleasant dining. This was my second visit to the Lebanese Taverna in two years. Food was excellent both times; new décor made the atmosphere much more pleasant this time."

"For a Lebanese food fan, the new paired back menu is a real disappointment. Where are the exotic lamb dishes and large variety of small plates and appetizers? It is as though they have decided to cater to the hotel tourist crowd and become a step above Lebanese fast food. The new decor is fabulous but, my two visits in the last week have been less than fabulous."

"My fiancé and I dined here with our mothers from out of town. Charlie, the general manager, ensured we all had an outstanding experience. The service was top notch. Our server was attentive and helpful in recommending dishes for our mothers who were first-time diners at Lebanese Taverna. We were all impressed with our appetizers and entrees. The atmosphere and mood of the restaurant was lively and inviting. We will definitely continue to bring our out-of-town guests to Lebanese Taverna to enjoy great food, wine and ambiance!"

"We had not been to Lebanese Taverna since they renovated, and wow, what a change for the better. While they lost 20 seats, it is now not nearly as crowded for the diners, and is less noisy. They had a special brunch on Mother's Day, $35 per person for unlimited small plates from a special menu. It was great to make a meal out of the small plates, and every one of them was really good. I expected them to be very crowded since they always were in the past, but to my surprise there were many open tables. Once all the old customers know they have reopened, I'm sure it will once again be packed with diners who appreciate their excellent Lebanese food."

"The Lebanese Taverna has undergone a significant renovation since we were last there. The old-world space has been replaced by a more modern interior. The restaurant is quite attractive, but the boxiness and hard surfaces of the new space have increased the noise level. Some diners will prefer the new look and feel, but we miss the old space. While not as loud as many DC restaurants, this is not a place for quiet conversation. The food, as in the past, was very good. We had a number of small plates, and all were good. We were there on a Friday night during busy hours; the servers were efficient and friendly, and managed to keep up."

"This is a fantastic restaurant with the very best Lebanese food. Portions are large so do not order too much. Ambiance is great although, since the restaurant always is packed, it can get a little loud. A real keeper!"

"Food was poor. Luke warm. Borghol accompanying Salmon was quite bad. Portions of tabouleh quite small (a far cry from "traditional" Middle-Eastern hospitality. I must say I am an amateur cook who knows good food. This is less than average over-priced food. The overall rating of "fair" is due to a friendly waiter". The food itself is Poor. The "older" waiter was detached and a little rude (removes unfinished appetizers' plates w/o asking patrons). Not to be recommended. Surely not for people who know their Middle-Eastern food!!"

"We thought our entire experience here was excellent, despite some confusion. We had ordered two fish, but only one arrived. The restaurant insisted on bringing something in the interim, and also sent us a complimentary dessert. Food delicious, especially salmon. More traditional, but as good in its way as Zaytinya. Sitting in the back room was much quieter than up front."

"This is one of my favorite restaurants in DC. If you are looking for good food and are adventurous enough to want to dip into new cuisine, you will really enjoy this place. It also has great ambience--very pretty and soothing aesthetic."

"The newly renovated Lebanese Taverna is terrific! It is much brighter with the white stone arched look, without the feeling of being at Grand Central Station. Both the food and the wine/beer selections were excellent, and the waiter was extremely patient in going through the menu with our semi-uninitiated group. Despite a big crowd on a Sunday night, the service was efficient and attentive without creating a hovering presence."

"We went there with a party of ten. The staff was very accommodating. It was a busy night and the place was packed. We have been there many times. It was suggested that we do a family style priced fixed dinner. Unfortunately, this did not highlight the amazing food at LebaneseTaverna. 2 of the ten were not delighted with the food. However, the majority liked it. My suggestion dine with a smaller group or check that the family style menu pleases all. We never miss Lebanese Taverna on a trip to DC."

"With many great restaurants to choose from in the neighborhood this one stands above the crowd. Decor and ambiance are of finest. The hummus is to die for. My wife said it all when she proclaimed, "I'm in heaven.""

"I booked this restaurant for my dad and son because it is such a busy restaurant. I added a comment in the special request section that I would not be joining. They went out of their way to make them feel special. The food here is amazing and the service is impeccable. Thank you, honestly best restaurant experience we had in DC."

"Food was great and service was fantastic for our large group of 19.They served us family style.make sure you ask ahead for yourGroup if you will be able to order from the menu or not and that you ask price per person so you are not surprised. I thought it was reasonable to be served manager choice and price was reasonable. Loved the sangria!"

"Food was tasty, but lacked execution on some dishes. * Ordered lamb cooked medium, as recommended my chef. It arrived well done, but flavor was good * Creme brulee was liquid on the bottom
Service was sub-par. * While waiting for other guests to arrive, nobody came to ask if we wanted to order drinks or appetizers. Poor move as we would have drank extra glasses of wine * Water not refilled consistently * Food was incredibly slow - perhaps an hour * Fire alarm went off for 20 minutes and was terrible. Good service would have offered a free dessert, small discount, coupon for future visit, or something. We got nothing except a delayed apology."

"Quality of service has deteriorated significantly since the renovation. It took 10 minutes for us to be seated, despite a reservation. Were given the worst table in the restaurant. It took 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order. Said dinner was for my fiance's birthday in reservation notes. Waiter was clueless about my reservation notes and did not bring complimentary dessert until I asked for it. Ruined the ambiance. Before we were done eating the dessert he shoved the check and leftovers in our faces. Worst birthday celebration ever. Will not return."

"Varied menu with delicate middle eastern spicing (think flavorful, not hot). One of us was gluten free and did fine. We all loved our orders. Met friends who walked up from DC Hilton. Also down Ct. Ave from zoo. Large party in back room delayed dessert (the wait staff were all back there) but liesurely was fine with us. Just under $40 a head, easy to exceed that in DC. 2nd visit, will go again."
