"Love Smitty's cornbread. And the pot pie is a must. My fried chicken salad was unusually soggy but still quite tasty. I've always liked the food here before. Bobby is the best server in the world -- attentive, funny, and doesn't interrupt conversations."

"Noise level was so intense we were unable to have a conversation at our table without screaming at each other. that is exhausting! However, that was due to the popularity of Smitty's. It is a favorite weekend spot and we were there on a Saturday night. I am sure it is quieter on other nights. Food was very god. Would go again and recommend to friends"

"From the moment we arrived to the time we left, our experience surpassed our expectations. The waiters were attentive and very helpful. We were not used to dining in an upscale casual restaurant but everyone made us feel so welcome and still gave such a respectful grace. We were more than pleased!"

"Smitty's is consistantly good every time I have been. Homestyle classics that have tons of flavor.
The cornbread in a skillet is a great starter, warm out of the oven.
All the entrees deliver each time I have been, a few of my favorites include the Beef Stroganoff, creamy and rich with tender chunks of beef, the Macaroni and Cheese with chunks of Ham, and the Pork chop is perfectly cooked double chop, extremely moist."

"Our Family had a great night. The service was excellent. The Manager, Tom recommended the Bean Dip Appetizer which was very good. My only complaint was the boneless short ribs which were bland, chewy and somewhat tasteless. The Halibut and Porterhouse Steak and HamBurger that the rest of the party had were very good. We will return but I will avoid the short ribs."

"The food was very good and nicely presented.
Our only complaint was the service. Our waitress was fine upon greeting us. She described the specials and made recommendations and then took our order. And that was the last we saw of her until she came back after the meal to ask if we wanted to order dessert. A busboy stopped by a few times to refill water and ice tea but our waitress appeared to be more interested in chatting with regular customers at other tables than to seeing if we needed anything else with our meal.
I enjoyed Smitty's enough to give it another try, but honestly, if I receive the same kind of service the second time around it will be the last time I give the place my business."

"I have eaten here many times in the past, but I was very disappointed with this visit. If you use Open Table app to book a reservation for 2, be sure to put on the special requests not to be seated in Judy's section. She saw that we were only a party of 2 and decided her other tables with parties of 4 and 5 needed much more attention because of a possibility of higher tips. She walked by our table many times when we needed small add-ons, but we had to ask the bus boys for help. We asked for our bill and could see it was processed but she stopped at the next table to take an order and socialize for at least 5 minutes before she turned and dropped the bill. Very upsetting experience to what could have been a perfect night."

"This is one of our favorite restaurants in Pasadena. It was my husband's first choice to celebrate his birthday. I made the reservation thru Open Table and noted the birthday in the comments section. They had a personalized birthday card and flowers for him at the table when we came in! A very lovely touch. The food, as always, was wonderful as was the service. We love this place. Based on the waiter's recommendations, 3 of us had the fresh fish specials. They were wonderful. My sister always has the ribs. She loves them and thinks these are the best anywhere."

"We went during the Pasadena restaurant week. They didn't have something special for this except a selection of what they already have on the menu at a lower fixed price. The filet mignon came lack presentation. Just a lump of meat and a plop of mashed potato on an otherwise empty plate. The meat tasted good. It is medium rare as ordered. The tomato soup came in a small cup. Good but a little sour. The desert vanilla icecream sundae is big and good."

"I have been to Smitty's many times and have many favorites on the menu. On this particular Friday night, the restaurant was very busy and our service suffered a bit. Not a reason I wouldn't go back. Besides our server, all other aspects of our service were excellent: the valet is so friendly, the manager stopped by our table to chat with us, the busboys and hostess were all friendly and easy to work with too."

"Smitty's is a place I enjoy going to, but be warned that it can be loud, and a bit dark at some tables. Food is solid... well prepared and with a variety of tastes and presentations. The prime rib is hearty. The BBQ ribs very tasty. Salads are fresh and crisp. Cocktails are decent, although a little pricey for calls. Overall, I enjoy it and will be a customer through the future."

"We love Smittys! The service is always wonderful and friendly. Their macadamia nut crusted redfish special was divine! Their prime rib was excellent as usual as was their delicious chicken pot pie. This is one of our favorite places to dine in Pasadena!"

"It goes without saying we consider Smitty's to be one of our favorite restaurants however they missed the mark on our last visit. Thursday night dinning has become the new Friday and they just didn't seem ready for it. The valet was over stacked - we waited a good 15 minutes before we had to ask the manager who our server was and if we could order drinks. Then the manager forgot our drinks. Our server then seemed to assume the manager was taking care of us - which he wasn't. Our food - Maui Maui special/whitefish - I have had better fish at Wahoos. - overcooked as were the vegetables. Had to ask for the check. Never asked if everything was ok. As we were leaving the waitress dropped a bunch of glasses and we almost got cut."

"Excellent food and with the added addition of comfort food specialties, such as meat loaf and chicken pot pie, both house specialties. The salads are generous and the sides ample. This particular night we were a group of six, the service was excellent, though the wine service left something to be desired, uneven pours on the first serving, the last glass filled almost to the brim in order to empty the bottle. That would be the first disappointment we've had here. It is highly recommended since the food is what you are really there for."

"We were seated outside as the noise level inside was super energetic. I doubt if we could have heard each other talking. But outside was lovely. Service was good and the food was tasty. Also they were willing to make substitutions on items. I had mussels and clams that were out of this world! Everyone else was very satisfied with their meals."

"Service was off with it seemed a new waiter. Everything was a liitle off. I wanted bread just ordinary bread. There is apparently nothing free because I was charged, which seems nickel and dime in a place that is $170 for dinner with no cocktails and 1 btl of lower end wine. The wine list is unnecessarily pricey with few options in the reds in the $50-70 price point. If I'm dropping $125 for a bottle I'm generally not at Smittys.
Food was good, cooked to order properly. This is not a minor point any longer. Only failure was my baked potato. It was underdone. My prime rib was perfect. Received horseradish with meal after asking for it when ordered - again a detail missed in some places. Water glasses not refilled. Little things."

"I love Smitty's. Every time I go there I really want to love the food they serve as well, but I just don't. It's overall a great place to visit. The people, the service, the atmosphere its all good. Now, if they could just bump the food up a notch, I would feel comfortable recommending this place. The ribs are okay but with there lack of meat leave you wondering if they got them from a anorexic pig. The popcorn shrimp are more batter than shrimp. The Caesar salad was made up of precut romaine lettuce and I would swear the onion soup was from a can. The sharp cheddar croutons were indeed sharp but overpowered the lackluster, salt-heavy broth. The chicken piccatta wash' bad as was the petite filet."
