"The B&O American Brasserie is a restaurant within the Monaco Baltimore Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel. I was in Baltimore for 2 days attending my graduation for my master's program and did not have time to research restaurants in the area. The food, ambiance and staff were excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone passing quickly through the Baltimore area."

"Everything about this place is great. I have eaten here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. On our last visit there was one dinner item that did not meet the diner's expectations. The staff (waitress and chef) were extremely accomodating and made it right! Everyone in our party left happy."

"We spent our Mother's Day at the B&O with my future in-laws. We had great service, food and fun. There was a nice variety of food and it was all delicious and well prepared! Definitely worth a visit if you are near the Inner Harbor."

"We enjoyed our meals at B&O, and for two of us who weigh less than 115 lbs, the dinner portions were sufficient. It did leave room for desserts though, and they were both delicious and reasonable sized portions. We were there on a relatively quiet night. Even with about half of the tables full, we found it difficult to converse across the table over the music and other diners. The waitress was friendly and competent, but she seemed to have a lot of tables to wait. We weren't in a hurry, which was good because it was 2.5 hours after we arrived when we got the check."

"Perhaps because it was Mother's Day, the whole experience was a HUGE disappointment. After reading such very positive reviews for the restaurant, I expected a first class meal, atmosphere but it wasn't meant to be. The music was awful, more like sounds for a happy hour bar. There was no menu selection but only a buffet with some of the food cold, tasteless, not very appealing to the eye. The highlight of the day was the congeniality and courteousness of the waiter, Jaymo, who was just a delight.
I won't be back."

"A beautiful location with outstanding food! There wasn't a single bite that didn't have me regretting my order :) Very delicious and the restaurant is gorgeous.
Our server was (as it appeared) the only server working on the lower level and she was clearly distracted by the busy tables, but that didn't take away from the great food!"

"When we began our meal, the restaurant had few patrons and was very quiet. As if began to fill up, the noise lever increased to the point that the four of us couldn't really have a conversation that all could hear. The food and service was very good. Between the four of us, we had three different dishes (2 fish, 1 pork) and all very very good. Dessert was very good also. I would have give the B&O 5 stars, but for the noise."

"We had lunch for a co-worker who is starting a new job. We were able to make reservations the day of the luch. There was a table ready for us with the number of people dining. The waiter was attentive, polite and efficient. The food was very good. None of our party was disappointed with their choice."

"My husband & I went here for our 1yr anniversary. They seated us at a great comfy booth. The strawberry soup the chef sent out was delicious and their cocktail list is not only extensive but creative and tasty. We had the mozzerella appetizer that we loved as well as a bison tartar that was very tasty but a bit on the small side. Both of our meals were delicious, ribeye, and rock fish. At the end of the meal the server brought us over champagne to celebrate which was a great little bonus! This was a great pick for our celebratory dinner thank you!"

"The menu seems to have been written by an artist but the food was prepared by an amateur chef. My "Jumbo Flounder" was a tiny piece of fish served in a bowl, of all things, on top of a pile of goo. My girlfriends Whole Crispy Skin Rockfish was also served in a small bowl, hardly enough fish for an appetizer, let alone a $28 entree. Both dishes were bland and way under spiced. The beet salad sounded wonderful on the menu and what was served was NOWHERE near what was described. The Fisherman's Stew I ordered as an appetizer tasted like it came out of a can. I work across the street and have eaten lunch there many times and it was very good...the bill, including a cocktail and two glasses of wine w/tip came to $140. Ridiculous!"

"The food was amazing and our waiter was great. He was just the right amount helpful and absent and i hope I reflected that in his tip.
Fisherman's stew was amazing and the $20 burger was well worth it. My date had a steak meal and she was also very satisfied. I did like the nice variety of the house drinks and wines as I love trying new drinks at new restaurants. A little pricey for the portion sizes but the food is very good and we will be going back.
It was loud. However, it was happy hour Friday right before an O's game so that may be the reason. It did die down as the night went on."

"The only reason I am giving the ambiance a "very good" is that it can be a little chilly in the dining room.
The B&O have the best brussels sprouts in the city... and I have had my fair share or brussels sprouts. YUM!
The carpaccio and the the tartar are also amazing. The local root vegetables, although delish, were not particularly inventive...."

"I was pleasantly surprised by the food last night.. the bison carpaccio was great and the tabasco sorbet on the oysters was a treat. We found the dishes to be creative and well executed. Only the fisherman's stew was a little lacking in flavor, overall. Our server was attentive and well-informed. A great choice when going to the theater (Hippodrome), which is a quick 5 minute walk."

"Food was good and we reAlly enjoyed the atmosphere. We had drinks downstairs before dinner and the drink list was amazing. When seated upstairs the service was a bit slow and we were the only table there. After about 30 minutes another table was seated and the waitress actually greeted them while chewing on food from the back. Overall nice place to stop."

"We requested - via Open Table - a booth upstairs. When we arrived there, there were empty booths upstairs, but the hostess informed us, in a sarcastic and totally uninterested way, that the upstairs was closed. Even though there were diners there.
Our waitress was great, though. But, I doubt if we'll be back."

"There are quiet tables upstairs. The lobby of the adjoining hotel Monaco is not to be missed - a vast hall of white marble with magnificent staircase. The Brasserie's flounder was astoundingly fresh and perfectly cooked! Our server was very helpful and attentive. Altogether a very enjoyable dinner."

"We had breakfast and dinner....food was very good but the long staircase to get to the upstairs dining area was a bit initmidating to a handicapped person ( I am one) going up and down. To enjoy a quieter dining area required more effort than I care for in getting to, as the dining area upstairs appeals more I would think to the middle age and senior set. Again the food was good but not worth the ascent and descent to/from the dining area on the 2nd level."

"The downstairs bar area has a mod, contemporary feel, but the upstairs dining area is more "clubby" with dark colors and leather banquettes. Especially enjoyed the privacy screens between some of the tables - it made for a cozy feel. The menu offered a number of local and seasonal (although for the end of March, their selections felt a bit wintery)elements. We enjoyed the cheese plate to start and for entrees, the BBQ ribs and ossubuco. We were not adventurous enough to try any of the signature cocktails - many were made with bourbon, not out favorite - but our drinks and wine choices were good. Service was attentive and very knowledgeable. Too pricy for everyday, but will be on our once-in-a-while rotation."

"Amazing food & the perfect accessibility from our hotel room upstairs. At the beginning of our meal we selected our own cocktails after briefly discussing our individual tastes with the server - for our second drinks we asked her to choose - and she amazed us with two more perfectly chosen delicious cocktails - obviously remembering what we had so briefly mentioned at the very beginning of the meal, we were so impressed and they went deliciously with our dinner and dessert.
We were a little disappointed that we were seated in an awkwardly positioned table that left us on display in the center of the room where it felt like we were intruding upon the people in the booths, but by the time delicious food came it was mostly forgotten"
