"The food is delicious and presented fabulously, but it takes way too long from order to appetizer to main course. As good as the food was, we won't go back."

Review 4 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"We had reservations and waited almost a half hour to be seated.....clearly they need to look at their time management. We ate in the hibachi area. Food is always good there, but I think the food is better in the regular dining room, with that menu. We come here often and will come back, but probably stick to the dini g room area."

Review 5 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"Around 7pm on a Wednesday night, I made reservations for two in the main dining room at our local Ooka restaurant for 8:00 pm. We arrived a few minutes before 8:00 pm, and told we would have to wait 10-15 minutes. 45 minutes later, we were finally sat at a table. While waiting for our drinks to come, we observed a guest get up from her table and complain to a staff member. My boyfriend approached the woman to find out what she had said- her and her husband ordered sushi an hour and 45 minutes ago and were still waiting. As it was out 3 yr anniversary, we didn't want to waste anymore time and went to another restaurant. Making a reservation was pointless. This place is usually great and has delicious food and service. Off their game :("

Review 7 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"Food was plentiful compared with other hibachi restaurants in the area. You won't leave Ooka feeling hungry though. We orderd a sushi roll and tempura appetizer. The sushi was definitely some of the best I've had in the area. While the food was plentiful it lacked in flavor. Not sure if this was due to being combined with a foursome with (2) kids or not, but the food really was lacking flavor. Falling short overall in my opinion. Needed more garlic and seasoning."

Review 8 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"There were 6 in our party, seated in the Hibachi grill area. The chef was energetic, lively and animated. He prepared the various orders promptly, at the right cooking temperature, flavors and prepared the steaks to each one's liking. The dessert was presented well, balanced on taste, but there were flavors unfamiliar to the palate. Slightly better than other Hibachi grills; did not leave the grease after taste; well vented; a bit noisy than what I'm accustomed to on Thursday evening."

Review 11 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"Being optimistic, we may have just visited Ooka on an "off" night. This being our local Ooka we have dined at Montgomeryville numerous times and this was our first bad experience. While our food was on par, our service was not. We literally did not see our server from the time we placed our order until a fellow diners hibachi partner went to see management regarding our lack of attention. The issue seemed to be short staffing regarding servers and chefs on this brisk Wednesday evening. I literally waited 20 minutes to ask for hot tea water! We will give Ooka another chance as we do enjoy their food but, for the price paid the service issues were inexcusable."

Review 14 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"The food here is AMAZING! Truly nothing is bad! From cocktails to dessert but WAY too loud. Diningroom nice and quiet but the sound level coming from the Hibachi side was out of hand. We were seated well into the dining room and what sounded like yells and whoops from a bacherlorette party at Chippendales was never ending coming from the Hibachi rooms. They REALLY need to close off that area better - try soundproof doors!!! Service can be laggy but we had a good waitress. Runners are another thing. Tried to give us wrong food. When we did get it he barely glanced at table and plopped down a teetering plate almost knocking over glasses - in a total hurry - wasn't even looking at what he was doing. Need more finesse"

"Food was overcooked. Slow service. Appetizers came out late. Salads didn't come out for over 30 minutes and then the food immediately followed crowding our area."

Review 21 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"We went to Ooka to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. We had a party of 6. I was hoping that with such a large party we would have a private dinner, but we were seated with a party of 3. This obviously changed the dynamic. It was less intimate and quite frankly, less enjoyable. The food was very good. There is nothing like fried rice that has been cooked seconds before serving. The portions of steak are a bit small. If you order the NY Strip steak, you share it with someone else. In other words, if 2 people order the steak, only one goes on the grill. When they cut it up it looks like more, but can leave you a bit unsatisfied."

Review 23 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"Have been several times, have always had a good meal, same for this visit. However, this time, there were some service issues. Admittedly, it was a busy Friday night, there were several large groups, & we arrived about 10 minutes late, however, we had to wait an inordinate amount of time. We were taken Hback 2x, only to turn around. First, there seemed to be a confusion about available tables, second, we were taken to the sushi bar; never asked if we wanted bar & it should have been evident it was not a viable option, as mom walks with cane. Would have been nice if we were offered a free app for our trouble - mgr. only apologized. Also VERY loud. Will return though, as food is very good."

Review 24 for Ooka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse
"THE BEST hibachi in the Philly Suburbs! I have been to a lot of hibachi restaurants and this one is my favorite. Try the sushi appetizers as well, before your hibachi chef arrives at your tables."
