"Went with my mom and sisters for Mother's day and as usual Grill 23 was great. It was not very crowded so it was a nice amount of noise and atmosphere. Our waiter, Daniel, was excellent. He was personable and made the lunch all the better. Greatday, will be back next year."

"We took my friend to Grill 23 for his birthday for one of the best dinners he had ever had. We had a party of 10+ and was taken care of by the staff with smiles. The food was such quality and I had the pleasure of meeting some the staff and cooks. That is how open and friendly they are there. I recommend everyone go at least once and try the down to earth meals in a classy setting."

"I have been to this place before and have enjoyed it in the past. The food and service was OK this time. My drink order was messed up. When are meals were served the steaks were not cooked to the temperature requested. I ended up having to wait a while, when my meal was returned the tenderloin was not a very good quality with gristle throughout. Disappointing"

"It was EXTREMELY loud - and not in a good way necessarily. We were seated at a tiny table for two right next to the bar upstairs and it was difficult to hear my husband. Food was good, but it was very noisy!"

"My wife and I love this place and they did a great job for our anniversary. Got us a nice table, greeted my wife accordingly, and brought a complimentary dessert. Our waiter Jeff was energetic and great. Our steaks came out a little overdone the first time so he 2 new ones refired quickly and they were perfect. You have to come here for special occassions"

"We have always had great food and service. We had great food, as always, during our last experience, but unfortunately during this last particular our dinning experience was not that great. The service was not that good because we were continuously very rushed through our meal. We ended up having 2 servers who both would come by and ask if we were ready to order, wanted more wine, and did we sign the bill yet. I appreciate good service, but this was clearly the waiters rushing us. The two of them stopping by time and time again to see if we had the signed the bill was a bit overbearing and did not reflect well upon the restaurant. I really like the food at Gill 23 and will come back. I just hope that we won't be as rushed."

"This place was recommended to us a few months back by the concierge at the W Hotel. We can not thank him enough for we have been back several times. "Amazing dinner! We are both mid-twenty somethings and wanted to enjoy a nice night out for a special birthday dinner. Our wait staff was attentive but not overly so. Our waters and wine glasses were never empty. Our server was very knowlegdeable about the wine selection and was able to pick a wine (in our price range) that was exactly what we wanted. The food all came out fast and was the best steak I have had. I had put on our reservation that it was a birthday celebration, we didn't mention it once we got there, but when dessert came out there was a candle and a chocolate happy birthday sign on the chocolate cake. This was wonderful. Great staff, super knowledgeable, fast and efficent. My only complaint was that it was a bit loud."

"Had the 100 Day Aged 18oz Ribeye in a bernaise sauce--hands down, one of the 5 best steaks I've ever eaten in my life! I like my meat medium-well, which most restaurants deliver either too pink or too done for my tastes. This was perfect--mostly light brown with a hint of pink, succulent, melt in your mouth taste. The beets were a welcome side dish. My wife is not a meat lover, but she felt the salmon was very moist and tender and the accompanying risotto was very flavorful. Portions are HUGE. Yes, you are paying a lot, but you get a lot. Trust me, I have been to a couple of restaurants in Cambridge and metroWest recently where I plaid similar prices and had far lower quality and quantity. And for dessert--PROFITEROLES!"

"I'm glad we asked our server to be light on the salt. Last time my husband and I went to Grill 23, our steak was so salty it took away from the amazing piece of cooked meat underneath. Thankfully our server knew what we were talking about.

Our steaks were perfect. All the food was excellent from our iceberg wedge salad to our amazing desserts."

"Over all the food was amazing. My filet was perfectly prepared and delicious. Our desserts were incredible as well. My disappointment was in the steak tartare and tuna tartare! "I've been to nearly every high end steakhouse in Boston and Grill 23 is my favorite so far. We went as a group and the staff was very accomodating. Some of us ordered the Steak Frites which was phenomenal as was the Dry Aged Sirloin. Don't forget to order the Mashed Potatoes and top it off with the Profiteroles for dessert, so good! Everyone was talking about how good their steak was the next day, I'll definitely be making a return trip."

"I loved the ambiance of Grill 23 Bar and Grill. When I arrived, the scene was very energetic. The atmosphere was more fun party than stuffy. My waiter was also excellent; he was patient and quite attentive to all our needs. Unfortunately, the food was average. For the prices we were paying, I would have expected the food to taste better, but I felt it was similar to any Cheesecake Factory meal. Thus, while I would have loved to recommend this place, I just do not think the food was worth the price."

"My girlfriend & I came into Grill 23 for an impromptu birthday night and snagged two seats at the downstairs bar. Immediately, the bartender assisted my slightly picky friend by making a drink she found online without any hesitation. He was very knowledgeable, especially about the daily oysters & even informed us what type of water they were plucked from! We opted for steak tartar & oyster (obviously!) before our entrees. The manager, Jake, came to chat and made sure everything was going perfectly. He wished my friend a happy birthday, was a true pleasure to speak with and he didn't overstay his welcome as many steakhouse managers do!

The bartender made our meal & experience a true pleasure, they even brought my friend a bday dessert! T"

"This was our first time at Grill 23.

Food: For an appetizer we got the crab cake. DELICIOUS! For an entree, I got the steak frites. The fries were fantastic, the steak was tender, but a little too salty for my liking. My friend got the pot roast which was phenomenal. For dessert, we got the bread pudding and creme brûlée. Neither of the desserts were spectacular. Go for the actual food, not for the desserts.
Service: It was fantastic until the rush came in. We were about 15 minutes late for our 6:30 reservation on a Thursday and were still seated right away. Once the business crowd came in, it was almost as if our server and water filler forgot about us! We were frustrated, so that's why we gave it three stars."

"Went to Grill 23 for an office dinner. Small group (6 people), but European and US nationals. Burrata appetizer and the 100 day steak rated outstanding by my colleagues. Also great wine list (we tried the red and white Châteauneuf-du-Pape). The server was knowledgeable, not pushy and very attentive. Only issue was with the ambiance. We were upstairs, and there was a presentation going on in the private room. Not noisy, but distracting (door should have been closed)."

"This restaurant has become tired over time. The new space in the back does not work and the tables, chairs and space throughout the restaurant have become very tired. "I had wanted to be as close to the Boston Maraton site as possible in order to support local businesses in this tragic time. Abe and Louie's, the Capital Grill and L'Espalier were all still unable to open due to ongoing police activities. Grill 23 has been a favorite anyway and happened to be only two blocks from the Maraton memorial site at the corner of Boylston Street. We arrived 30 minutes early and paid our respects at the tribute site where Tv crews from all over the world were broadcasting. We then had a wonderful and somewhat poignant dinner which was up to the usual standards of excellence. We then went back to the Boylston Street site where we heard about the MIT shooting and drove home noting markedly increased police activity."

"the food here is always excellent and its more than the steak...if you are being dragged here by a red meat person there are very good options that set this apart from a "steak house" ....the service was impeccable."

"Very disappointed in the service. Food was very good but staff was unattentive to the needs of our table. Request to recognize my daughters birthday was ignored. For better service, excellent food and ambiance pick Mortons or DelFrisco's."

"It was a very nice place to take my GF for our anniversary. The food was amazing, best steak I've ever had. Usually, unless she makes her own steak, at other restaurant's she'll ask for A1, At Grill23 she asked but the waiter said to try it first, and she did and loved it. So Grill23 is really an amazing place for a great steak dinner, and great service."

"My partner and have been to Ruth's Chris Steak house before and i cannot compare their service and of course their porterhouse, but instead we visited Grill 23 and to our surprise the only plate not available was the Porterhouse, just what we wanted. The steak we order instead had way too much fat, although the chef was nice to divide it in two separate plates, one for my partner and one for myself. The Tempranillo we order was great as well as the creme brulee.Finally we had made a reservation for a party of 4, but only my partner and i dined, unfortunately we were put on a table of 4 when there were 2 sitting tables available, not to mention we were 5 ft. from the waiter station and we heard some cursing."

"The meal was nothing special despite high end prices. The waiter when asked if they had baked potatoes was not sure. A steak house without a baked potato?

Mushroom risotto was very bland, undercooked and the mushrooms looked more like canned than fresh.

Calamari as an appetizer was very good and fresh. Fried onions mixed in with the calamari was an unexpected surprise.

Overall a decent meal but certainly not worth $200 for 2."

"We were seated upstairs - which was much quieter - I assume because we had our children with us. Most tables with children were upstairs. I would request downstairs if you want more of the "scene." It was still nice and our waiter was terrific. He was quick and witty with our tween boys as well."

"Our seats were not the best. We were seated near a wait station and the waiters came running by every 30 seconds or so and since our table was lop sided our drinks spilled on several occasions. It was very bright and lacked ambiance. The food was good but I've had better."

"Our family has a strict rating system called the Smith Family Review, we do it at the end of every meal when we eat out as a fun tradition. Grill 23 was the first to ever achieve our highest rating, 50 that's 5 people all voting "10!) Our waiter Tim was phenomenal, I brought my family; adolescent and teenage sons, he was respectful and the most knowledgeable, professional and tactical I have ever seen. He added to a wonderful meal and memorable holiday meal for my family.

It is important to note that I have a love and passion for great steak and red wine, you have maintained your standing in my eyes as the best our city has to offer, the 100 day ribeye's were out of this world!! Thanks Again"
