"The crab cake sandwich was one of the best I have ever has. I subbed the fries for the Arugula salad, which turned out to be a great choice for me. My husband ordered the Warm Spinach Salad with chicken. I didn't try his, but he said it was very good. He did comment that there was a little too much bacon, for his taste."

"We enjoyed this restaurant that was "tucked" away in Midway, KY (an beautiful, quaint, historical town outside of Lexington, KY). The restaurant decor was very simple, elegant and inviting. The lunch menu was simple, but had a enough different choices for our party of 4 to chose from. We ate at this restaurant on our way into Lexington for a weekend birthday celebration for my wife. It as a great time!"

"Great food and fun. Very loud environment. Difficulty finding our open table reservation, but was given the table we had requested. For some reason the open table did not record my name correctly so I had to go into profile and change the error. The waiter appeared to not have our reservation but accommodated us as we were first to arrive. No questions asked............good service."

"Heirloom has been tops on our list for years. It is a mandatory stop on the big weekends at Keeneland and we try to make it out as often as possible and affordable to Midway for lunch or dinner. We know the crowd will descend on great owner/chef Mark Wombles for Bluegrass Stakes weekend and we made our reservations on Open Table as early as we bought tickets for the races - 3 months ago. However, when we arrived, lingerers were enjoying their last moments and the incoming crowd from the races was about to land all at one time. Unfortunately, that transition wasn't handled with aplomb. After nearly a 1/2 hour, we were finally seated and treated quite well; however the service experience significantly undercut a splendid meal."

"While size of the menu is limited, the quality of food at Heirloom is certainly not! Each of our group of four had a different entree and everyone raved that theirs was the best (we always do a lot of sharing). I had the halibut and it was served on a bed of risoto that that was just wonderful and covered with a seafood sauce that icluded bits of crab, lobster and other fish. We passed on appetizers in favor of desserts and I can attest that the home made ice cream that night was superb. We understand the chef mixes different flavors each night. As good as the food was, our waiter was the key to our wonderful experience. He was soft-spoken, reserved, unobtrusive and genuinely pleasant to talk with. Be sure to visit!"

"This was our umpteenth visit to Heirloom, and once again we left as "happy campers" From the warm spinach salad to the duck and scallop entrees we were in food heaven. The carrot soup was a real treat and the crab cake and chicken liver appetizer didn't fail us.

"Our B&B host highly recommended Heirloom, reinforcing the reviews we read on Trip Advisor. Set in a storefront facing railroad tracks in this small town between Lexington and Frankfort (hence, Midway), Heirloom is sparely but elegantly appointed, with little to get in the way of the light streaming through the ceiling-to-nearly-floor windows. The menu is not extensive, but every dish is a work of art. It reminded me of a local eatery here on the Delaware/Maryland border, the Fair Hill Inn: locally sourced ingredients creatively prepared to take the dish to the next level. You will leave completely satisfied."

"A beautiful drive through kentucky horse country will bring you to the quaint, revived main street of Midway. Heirloom's welcoming red sign stands out as something unique among the shop fronts. We were seated in the intimate dining room whose walls are lined with high backed booths for couples and a few central tables for small groups. From there you will begin a wonderful evening of dining involving well-crafted cuisine that has no business being there. It rivals some of the best small venue restaurants that we enjoy in our hometown of Atlanta. Each dish will sound familiar, but the fresh sourcing and unique, but subtle, embellishments in flavors and preparation elevate them to a new experience. Thank you for a wonderful night!"

"I had a very positive experience. The fact that your location is probably a job for most to get to and when entres are over $25.00 and a charge to split (which just about every diner resents) I do expect a table cloth. Server was very friendly and professional. Due to location and my belief that there are very few great restaurants in the world, I've eaten in many of them, Heirloom is a good restaurant,with fresh food, creative presentation and that I would go back to sometime in the future."

"This was our second trip to Heirloom which is saying a lot! My husband is extremely critical of the "nicer" restaurants because of his experience in the food industry himself and he has had nothing but good things to say about their food. "Crabcake appetizer was quite good, as was the porkchop entree. The duck was a little fatty, but then that's duck. Even on "half price wine night" the total was more than I was expecting, but it was worth it for a special occasion. Extensive wine list. Mild complaint: even though the TV at the bar was turned down to silent, its flicker was a distraction and it doesn't really fit with the ambiance."

"The food and the table service were very good; however, time management was an ssue.
It was our first visit to Heirloom. We made reservations for 19:30, asking for a table by the window. We were seated at 19:50, and had we not spoken up, would have been seated at the table farthest from the window. We were eventually placed near the middle of the restaurant.
The restaurant is quite clean, but the pace was too slow. Our experience ended just after 21:30."

"My wife and I were celebrating valentines day early. We had Heirloom on our list for a year, we were not disappointed! Great service, wonderful food. We will absolutely return soon. And who can live in central KY and not admire Midway. Just to add to the experience, as we arrived and were on a stroll, a train passed through- how appropriate."

"We've tried Heirloom 2 or 3 times now and the main take-a-way has been " inconsistent " food therefore we can't recommend this establishment and won't be going back . The soups and/or salads can be good but then the entree will be blah or vice-versa; the wine list is so-so and on 2 occasions they were out of the one we ordered. We think they're trying hard but it just doesn't work for us."

"Attention to detail makes this restaurant special in every way, but the attractive plating and the flavors of the food were outstanding. I was surprised to find myself ordering the chicken livers but the delicious flavors lingered all the way home to Berea. I hate to go to a restaurant and think I could make it better and cheaper at home, but this was definitely not the case. We are looking forward to coming back and we will be telling all of our friends about it.

"We have never had anything but great experiences with Heirloom. Our meal on this visit was particularly good. We loved the new pretzel bread with cinnamon butter. The halibut tempura is incredible. I had the duck, which was fantastic, but the pumpkin ravioli that was served with it stole the show! My wife had the carrot soup and crab cake- always such a perfect balance of flavors. Great presentation, excellent wine and fantastic service."
