"Everything was perfect. It was the first time we dined at the restaurant. The ambience was beautiful. The waiter was outstanding. He attended to everything perfectly. The entire experience was a great one. The entrees were delicious. We had the duck and filet mignon and dessert was scrumptous. Very enjoyable evening."

"We had a lunch reservation for 4 and the only reason I didn't score our visit higher is because we had to wait for quite a long time for our server to get to us to take our order and present our food too. It appeared as though the rest. was short-staffed. We commented on how well the lunch business appeared, as there were at least 30 dinners/8 different tables, but only 2 servers on the floor. As a plus we did see the Mgr. on duty helping by running plates to the crowd and our meals were very good, including the gluten-free order."

"Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. One person in our group is a vegan and the chef was wonderful by creating a very tasteful and beautiful dish fit just for her! Our waiter was very knowledgable and had great pointers on some wonderful dishes!"

"As usual, a lovely lunch experience. Since this was a business lunch, Philippe did a great job of managing a balance of engagement/privacy. Upon arrival,when I asked for privacy, we were given a great table to allow for free-flow of conversation without concern for being overheard. My colleague was very happy to be introduced to such a comfortable and enjoyable restaurant."

"Terrific food! Upon our arrival the maître d' seated us right away. The dining room was quiet and comfortable. We ordered Assorted cheeses, and a half dozen Katama oysters. Great variety of cheese with crostini's and the oysters were fresh and sweet. My wife had the lamb was cooked to order very tender. I had the red snapper, which was one of the evening's special. The fish was very moist and nicely seasoned, that worked well With the couscous that laid beneath. The wines were nicely priced. Our waiter had many other tables in the beginning and it took awhile too order our wine and dinner. After a few tables left, the service improved."

"The escargot was great! The salad was perfect. The entree was really French. I love French food and get frustrated when it ends up being Italian. we have more than enough goo Italian food. This place is a nice alternative if you want something different. The waiter knew his wine and helped me select exactly what I liked."

"We went on Valentine's Day. The menu seemed limited. I had the seafood soup, very disappointing. The broth was ok not much seafood. I had the lamb chops as an entree. The lamb was cooked perfectly excellent job, you get 4 chops for $35. The potato gratin were unique and very different in a good way. I ended with the mousse very average nothing to write home about. My fiance's meal was very similar, very high points and very low points. The service was spotty. The waiter was nice and helpful when I could get his attention. The bill came to $180 with tip. Given the price for food/service I wouldn't recommend Provence."

"Provence is one of our very favorite restaurants so, of course, we chose it for dinner on Valentine's Day. Knowing it was popular with others as well, we made a 5:30 reservation and were not disappointed despite the plethora of customers.

"While the food has always been good, the service is hit or miss. Some of the wait staff are great, others terrible. On Valentines day we were seated promptly then waited ten minutes before being greeted by waiter. Another ten minutes before he returned to take a drink order. After that it was just interminable. Really distracted from the evening"

"Too pricey for the food. When I spend that much money for oysters, I don't want a plate that came out of the refrigerator. I want the juice bubble on the oyster. I had to send my steak back because it was not cooked to order. Sea Bass was good, but surprised it came with a grain. I ordered Banana Beignet for dessert. Beignet was soggy and the banana was not ripe. Sorry, meal was disappointing for the $150 we spent. Maybe next holiday they will think about the diner instead of cramming people into tables that when they try to get into the seat they don't wipe out the adjoining table with their butts. Oh, also, it was explained to me that the seating was the way it was in NYC, well, here's a flash.. we are not in NYC."

"How convenient to be able to park and stroll in Stuyvesant Plaza to such a fine restaurant. We tend to drop in on Fridays when there is live entertainment at 7pm or so. Entrees are reasonably priced and portioned so as to not overstuff you. The menu is excellent, and specials often out-do themselves. Wait staff were a little too frequent at our table yesterday, but perhaps that's better than not being evident at all. We had two lovely fish dishes, salmon and striped bass. One of the several soups is always worth starting with, and I always need a dessert - a mousse-like popsicle this most recent time. Merci!"

"We have been going to Provence for years, because it is always very reliable--for food, for service, for ambiance. We were a little disappointed on our last visit, however, because the mashed potatoes were very over-salted, the vegetables that accompanied our entries (except for the nicely prepared decorative green beans) were more of an after thought and not particularly tasty, and the restaurant seemed a bit understaffed--though not very crowded. My husband's starter, the duck comfit, was quite good but my Caesar salad was not impressive. The steak frite was good and we should have both ordered it as my strip steak wasn't as good, mostly because of the accompaniments described above. But we will go again--probably just an off night."

"Not your usual fare. I had the venison, which was tender and moist. It was served on a bed of cooked cabbage with figs and cherries. Dessert was a flan. I eat flan often, and sometimes they're grainy. This was perfect, served with a few blueberries and a fresh mint leaf. The coffee was rich. My husband's veal with lentils was also delicious. It was Saturday night and there was a jazz quartet. Perfect evening. We'll go back!"

"we have always found Provence to have top notch service and food. We have returned many times for special occasions. Our visit January 19 was for a birthday and we were very disappointed with the service..the food was very good, however for our party of 8, we spent an hour after our salads waiting for entrees with only a drive by apology by the waiter and no explanation for the lateness of our dinners. When they did arrive, only one side of the table was served by a different waitress and after 15 minutes the rest of our dinners arrived, altho one at a time. We spent several hundred dollars on dinner and really did not feel like it was worth it. Very disappointed."
