Le Foret in the New Orleans Central Business District is a vibrant restaurant serving traditional New Orleans French cuisine, where guests experience what New Orleans is famous for; friendly and leisurely Southern Dining.
The restored 1800’s era building still houses many of its original doorways, beams and hardware dating back more than 200 years, is where Restaurateur Danny Millan and his partners provide stellar service to visitors who dine on Italian china and imported crystal from Germany.
With a seasonally driven menu focusing on the best produce, seafood and meat Southern Louisiana has to offer, Le Foret is a perfect spot for a family dinner or special occasion.
"Very, very nice restaurant comparable to other five starred restaurants in the city. if available try the tasting menu, excellent cuisine for a reasonable price. On my permanent list for New Orleeans!"

"We were disappointed. We had a lovely table, but my veal chop was much more rare than I had ordered, and since we were with business acquaintances, I didn't want to send it back and hold everyone up. Our waiter was curt and certainly not warm or attentive. Our companions did not comment on how good the meal was, so I suspect that they were also disappointed. My husband did have a good gumbo and his duck entre was good, but not at the level we had expected."

"This was our first dining experience at Le Foret. Our meal was pretty scrumptious. The duck was delicious but half of the table also ordered one of the specials, which was a bone-in pork chop and it was incredible. Truly. The sauce and vegetables were cooked perfectly. Appetizers were just okay and dessert was a disappointment, but the ambiance and setting is beautiful. There isn't a bad table in the room. The only true negative was the service, which was basically non-existent. We'd definitely go back."

"The food was marvelous and the service terrific. The Fois Gras was truly amazing, and the fish was absolutely delicious. The waiter, Mauricimo (sp?) was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and accommodating."

"There was a very small menu but I went to Le Foret specifically for the scallops. They were out of them when I ordered. I ordered red snapper instead but asked for the sauce on the side because I do not like a cream sauce. The snapper was bland without the sauce so I ended up eating the sauce after all. Maytag cheese for the salad was pretty tasteless and was more like soft cheese made into an oval shape then blue cheese that I imagined it would be. Our initially waiter failed to take my husband's drink order at all but got my order. We were then switched to another waiter. We asked three times in a 10 time span if we were ready to order and we seemed very rushed. It was not the relaxing romantic dinner for which I was hoping."

"Our first time there. Food, ambience, location, vibrant, parking....all totally awesome. I was, however, disappointed with the service. We got very little attention and barely saw our waitress. It was almost like we weren't there. Despite that, definitely worth a return visit."

"The prices were moderately high here, although far short of budget busting. More importantly, the quality of the food and service were very much in line with amount charged and there was good value delivered. Everyone in our party of four was well-pleased with their choices."

"Valet parking at JW Marriott around corner provided by the restaurant - a much appreciated perq in NOLA's Central Business District near the French Quarter. Staff very friendly. Sazarac & Brandy Milk Punch to start, classic New Orleans drinks, the Sazarac was bitter and the BMP more resembled a chocolate frappe with Nestle's Quik Powder. The Moet champagne was nice. The waiter graciously offered to remove or replace the BMP, the replacement was basically the same. Good effort, seems the problem was behind the bar. Lobster & Champignons appetizers, redfish entree excellent. Lamb entree outstanding. Will definitely go again."

"This place was highly recommended, so my expectations were also high. There were 4 in our party and although we enjoyed the food, the overall experience was not up to par with high end restaurants that we had dined at in New Orleans.
One of the reasons we selected Foret was for the Foie Gras, and found out it was only offered on the "5-course Menu" which could not be selected unless the entire table opted for the Menu. I asked, and was denied, to have the Foie as an appetizer. Also a little mix up with the wine and service we fair for a restaurant of this caliber.
On the plus side, the wine we did select was wonderful, overall the food was very good."

"Great dinner. We were almost scared away by low ratings. Then the first floor window showed the restaurant to be not so full. But the main dining room is upstairs. Food and service were excellent. This was a definite keeper"

"We had the red snapper with crab meat - tastefully prepared and presented. Although recent news accounts caution that true red snapper can be hard to find (counterfeits abound), in this restaurant in New Orleans they served the real McCoy. An extensive wine list that featured some wonderful wines at reasonable prices - look beyond the typical Cabs for the bargains. Dining room is conducive to conversation."

"There were 5 of us in our party. Food was very good. Everything was prepared with care and at a high level. We particularly liked the Red Snapper and Beef Tenderloin. Between the five of us we tried nearly all the appetizers and they were excellent. For dessert I thought the Truffle chocolate cake was average but the coconut cake and toffee tart were particularly good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for fine dining."

"Every time I have been here it has been over the top. The waiter was swamped and failed to ask us for cocktails. That was the only shortcoming. The food was imaginative and served piping hot with a nice presentation. The wine list in very eclectic and intriguing. I am not a fan of foie gras. They offered a PBJ foie gras that was incredible. What an odd combo but the best I have ever had. I had the scallops with a house made pasta and they were light and quite delicious. Excellent experience and wonderful wait staff. The waiters I have had were very knowledgable and energetic. I prefer Mauricio he is great. I have had him on two occasions."

"Wonderful service...the food was well prepared and the presentation was fabulous. You cold taste the spices and the quality of their choices for the main dishes. A wonderful treat for bing in the south where service can be a little slower for us Northerners!"

"Food was amazing and presentation was well done. Waiter was inattentive and appeared irritated when we chose multiple appetizers rather than a single entree which was then reflected in the service for the rest of the evening. Otherwise was wondering and I would go again."

"The food was good but I thought the prices were a little high. The service was only okay because we had to wait quite a while to get offered a second round of drinks. Also had to ask for more bread. The thing that stands out the most is that the waiter misunderstood our coffee order and when we pointed it out very politely, he said "and this is my fault?" instead of just saying no problem, I'll bring two more coffees. Something as simple as that, at a very expensive restaurant, leaves a lasting impression."

"Everything about this place is outstanding. Went there for Valentines Day. Could not have asked for a better experience. Pricey, but totally worth it. Unforgettable small bites, especially seared scallops with ghost pepper caviar! The beef tenderloin was almost falling apart it was so tender. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to go for a special occasion."

"Our first time at this restaurant, but we would go again. Very friendly greeting by the host and the bartender (we had to wait a few minutes for our table). We enjoyed the food, the service was good, and we received a gift on our way out from the host (it was Valentine's Day). We were able to get a last minute reservation when most other places we wanted were booked up. Not sure why this one wasn't booked up also, but we're glad it wasn't."

"An outstanding experience on a quiet Monday evening. The menu offers many tempting choices. We picked the shrimp risotto and goat cheese ravioli and were very pleased with both. The dining room is attractive, suitably dark, and quiet. Service was perfect, there when we needed someting, invisable otherwise."

"I love the architecture of this building. Have been there in the past and loved it. I think what influenced this night was the very low occupancy and my entree choice. I live in New Orleans. What did I order halibut? It may have been wonderful for halibut, but it was so different from trout, redfish, salmon, tuna. I just made a bad choice. The waiter was very accommodating. Again, I love this restaurant even given the very high prices. This was just not the best night."

"Was really looking forward to dining here after reading many reviews but the dishes we had were less than stellar especially for the price. Lobster salad was bland and the halibut was dry and hard. Our friends though enjoyed there dishes. The presentation was nice just not the taste. Environment seemed sterile and colorless."

"Our group ordered Quail, Flounder & Scallops as entrees......all were fresh & well prepared, nice presentation, really delicious. Waiter was not overly attentive, misunderstood an order (for either brandy or kahlua shot w/coffee after dinner) When I tried to correct him when he brought the not hot enough coffee, that only one was requested, he promptly replied....."too late, they've both been poured" I couldn't respond I was so surprised at the remark. Several minutes later he return w/both when the coffee was really cooled off. Didn't make a fuss, it was mildly annoying. Would return sometime for the food. Wouldn't become a regular due to the careless service."
