Oliver & Bonacini Cafe Grill, Bayview Village
We are pleased to announce that renovations of our restaurant are now complete! Join us at our newly refreshed restaurant for lunch, dinner or weekend brunch.
Oliver & Bonacini Café Grill, Bayview Village is the first of O&B's casual dining restaurants created by renowned restaurateurs Peter Oliver and Michael Bonacini. This large urban space feels very downtown despite its North Toronto location. A gleaming open kitchen extends into the airy dining room, featuring washed tin ceilings, leather banquettes and dramatic and distinctive light fixtures. The menu offers something for everyone, including fresh, made-from-scratch soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas and fire-roasted pizzas. Menu favourites include B.C. albacore tuna tataki, tempura rock shrimp, lamb shepherd’s pie, pan-seared Ontario pickerel and O&B’s legendary macaroni and cheese.

"The food was excellent, but took a long time to come, as the place was unexpectedly busy. The eggs benedict were way to runny at first, but the staff brought it back to the kitchen, and the second time round was perfect, and provided an extra 'side' to make up for the wait. Coffee is excellent, and our server was a gem."

"They have a good selection of brunch items, all very tempting as i saw the table next to us were enjoying. we chose a seared tuna in blue cheese dressing and a pasta dish. Both are very tasty. The portion size is just right for a lady's diet needs. Satisfied and will come again."

"Brunch this past Sunday for a birthday celebration for a special friend was wonderful. The special juice of the day was outstanding. Even though the restaurant was busy, our server was outstanding - excellent customer service! The meal was very good and as this was the new menu we were able to try something different and it was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience."

"Lighting is bad - the use of fluorescent light made everything green yellow white.
Food - pizza is not cut, provided a knife which was nearly impossible to cut... Even a $5.99 pizza from Pizza Pizza would provide the cutting service.
Washroom - the barrier free washroom on ground was so dirty and filthy! They should clean the washroom more often.
Table height - it was way too high. It was difficult for both kids and adults to sit comfortably for dinner. We prefer the old layout, lighting and furniture."

"I have been to this restaurant twice in the past few months -- both positive experiences. The menu is varied and reasonably priced. Food and service have been good. Restaurant can be very loud depending on where you are seated. It is a good option for a North York get-together and parking is easy and free."

"We had a fabulous lunch at Oliver and Bonacini Café Grill at Bayview Village this week.. The Soup and Salad....we had the mulligatawny lobster soup, quinoa salad and herb bread and all were excellent. The restaurant is very classy and the service was really excellent. The cappuccinos with biscotti finished it off. I'd highly recommend this restaurant."

"This location is luckily surviving based on its location because from a service standpoint, they have not been able to get a strong handle on things since the day it opened. Usually, there are many, many table empty and the front-desk staff are less than friendly - quite "snobby". First impressions are so critical. The servers are generally very good but the kitchen is very slow and very disorganized. If you want all of your food to come at once (apps and mains), it really throws them for a loop and they cannot figure out how to get the food to the table within a reasonable time.

"Trying to beat the Sunday mayhem of Mother's Day brunch, I took my mother out to Oliver & Bonacini at Bayview Village Saturday night, a place we used to frequent quite often for special occasions. The service has always been amazing, and the food well worth the price. Since the restaurant has renovated, nothing has changed. The food is still excellent, and the service remains one of the best in the city. I started with the mushroom soup, a deliciously light yet flavourful appetizer. My main course was the O&B signature macaroni and cheese, which puts to shame all other mac and cheese entrees. Finally, I rounded things off with my favourite desert from any restaurant - carrot cake and sour cream ice cream. A great dining experience!"

"I took my mother to brunch at Oliver & Bonicini at Bayview Village on Mother's Day. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service was flawless and very attentive. "This neighbourhood restaurant located in Bayview Village Mall is a nice restaurant although a bit on the noisy side. The food is very good but the menu is a bit limited. The prices are average to high. 4 of us had brunch and it came to $105.00 which may be average for some but we found it a bit on the high side. Service was excellent even though it was very busy. We had reservations and were seated immediately. We will return for special occasions."

"Everything was fine until the main course came out and we didn't get what we ordered. After waiting 5 minutes the waiter concluded that our dishes belong to another table. We waited another 30 minutes assuming the waiter would expedite our order given their mistake. Then we flagged the waiter down. He says with a confused (maybe angry) look, "you didn't get your ordered!" We waited another 15 minutes for our order. In the interim, he took away my wife's drink that was still 1/5 full without asking. When the bill came, I still paid 10% tip. This is lower than what I normally pay, but the service was really not deserving this day. The waiter just looked annoyed without any apologizes for "the mistake" that they made."

"The table which we reserved was ready for our brunch. The waiter was pleasant, but seemed to be covering too many tables. As a result, order taking and trying to get more coffee and the bill, was difficult. Although the music was not loud, the restaurant was full and with the high ceiling it was noisey and conversation was difficult at times. The waffles were very good."

"I have been going to this restaurant for years and have experienced nothing but great food and excellent service. Recently the menu changed and it was for the best, because it's nice that the flavours keep evolving. I am however disappointed with the renos. The use of flourescent lighting in place of warm lights was not appealing at all. The exposed concrete floors and "cold" feeling didn't make me feel comfortable. The lighting makes the whole space look chilly and gloomy. It's a good thing I had good friends with me who distracted me from the esthetics and great chefs to please the stomach!"

"Service was absolutely aweful. Waiter did not write orders down and brought meals we did not even order. Then we had to wait for the kitchen to make the correct food. My recommendation to the waitstaff is to WRITE THE ORDER DOWN ON A PIECE OF PAPER. Waiter then acted like it was no big deal. Brutal service...Would not ever go there again. Ruined my mom's birthday brunch.
They should quit hiring high school students as wait staff."

"The food was terrific. We had the pickerel and seared tuna dishes which were prepared to perfection and the wines were good quality and good value. Unfortunately the meal was spoiled by the fact that we had to wait 15 minutes for our table and another 15 minutes before we saw a waiter.The service was very slow and while the waiter was very helpful it was obvious that he had too many guests to serve us attentively.Also the noise level was so loud that we couldn't converse without almost shouting.
I could not recommend this restaurant to a friend in spite of the quality of the meal."

"I honestly expected a bit more out of this establishment. The servers were kind and attentive, but, the food was lacking! It seemed very bland and as if not a lot of effort went into it. Perhaps they dont use some of the finer ancillary ingredients that other restaurants do to up the quality of the food? Then again, maybe I just caught them on an off night. I always give an establishment a second chance, so Im sure I'll go back at some point, just not right now."

"For the price, it is an average restaurant.
We went for Easter Brunch, and I had the breakfast special and my wife had the waffle.
The breakfast was okay but I have had better, and the waffle was very disappointing.

"Oliver & Bonacini is usually always pack and wait time can be very long. However, this time trying to reserve a seat (for 16 in advance) paid off really well. The atmosphere was pleasant, we had great seating and the servers were very nice, polite and courteous.
This was a continuation of our baby shower extended into the evening and the experience made it very nice.
Tea selections to be paired with desserts can be improved, but aside from that, everything was wonderful.
The butter tart was indulging and the creme brulee couldn't be any smoother and rich.
The Morrocan Lamb was so tender it melted at the touch!
It was absolutely fantastic!"
