"We have been here for dinner and brunch a few times, but my wife and I took friends to dinner for their first time last Friday. We had a wonderfiul dinner ( and in the bar area no less). I had the steak frites, my wife the salmon, and our friends the bass. The streak was perfectly cooked at medium rare, and salmon was wonderful. Our friends loved the bass sim much we thought they might lick the plate. Would highly recommend the cafe!"

"I don't recall the name of the drink, but it had lemongrass vodka, lemonade, muddled mint leaves and lime, I think. It was fabulous and made my day. I could just sit there and drink them hour after hour, but then I'd never be able to get home, would I?

"Did not exactly enjoy the meal(s) that we ordered for the table. The cream of crab soup was luke warm at best and my bowl alone had six or seven shells in it. The sandwich which was supposed to be blackened salmon was so tiny compared to the bread that it was served on did not make for a great presentation or taste. The waitress was very, very nice though and pleasant atmosphere overall. Unfortunately at this time I would not go back any time soon nor would I recommend it to anyone."

"I love City Cafe! The food and service are always excellent and the atmosphere is comfortable and unpretentious. You could dine in a suit or jeans and feel quite appropriate. The menu offers nice variety, farm to table and vegetarian selections. On my most recent visit I had the Alaskan halibut and it was exceptional. It's also a great place for brunch (make reservations!). I recommend the blackened salmon BLT. Brunch comes with mini cinnamon buns--delicious.
It's a great place to dine in Baltimore."

"Absolutely love the City Cafe. It never disappoints. The food is always wonderful and fresh. It's hard to pick one favorite; but the Fried Green Tomatoes with Lump Crab are certainly in the running for my top pick. Also, the scallops at City Cafe are amazing! The staff is also super friendly and helpful. They happily accomadated our request for first floor dining since one of our party could not navigate steps.

"I love that we can't go wrong with City Café ... we went on a busy Saturday night with friends who had never been for dinner there (they were very pleased!). Everyone commented on how great the menu is - plenty of options without being the least bit overwhelming (everything on one page). Service was efficient and professional. Dishes were well presented and delicious .. Although none of us are vegans, two ordered the vegan dish - it was terrific. Salads were a good size, very fresh, perfectly dressed. No complaints. Can't wait to go back."

"We started visiting the City Cafe when we discovered it was walking distance from the BSO. This time we had the strawberry cucumber martini and a berry drink special both were out standing. Then the food, fresh oysters were excellent appetizers. Followed by the strip steak in a sauce with brussel sprouts, mushrooms and potatoes. This was also excellent. We enjoyed it so much we made a reservation for this week to visit again before seeing Chicago at the BSO. We are recommending City Cafe to all that frequent the BSO and can still walk. :)"

"City Cafe is a dependable and fun place to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night. They haven't quite regained the vibe they had when Chad Gauss was running the show, but it remains reliable. They are retooling a bit, and the dining area has spread to where the coffee bar used to be, and service hasn't quite caught up. There were obvious oversights- no silverware when food was served; drinks took forever; took forever to get someone to bring the check. The section where we sat (the runway between the coffee bar and main dining) had no music. Food was fine, but overall not up to sterling standards."

"City Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants. We had an especially exquisite meal Friday. The fried oysters are always a hit - we love the creamy sauce with a spicy edge. We had a halibut special with risotto/artichokes. It was just melt in your mouth delicious! We don't usually have dessert, but we tried the trio of samples. THe flourless chocolate cake was to die for, and the little wedge just the right amount. My husband especially liked the creme brûlée. The only disappointment at City Cafe is the bread. Instead of a great crunchy baguette, they do a kind of focaccia. It would be great if they gave diners a choice of breads."

"The City Cafe has been our "go to" restaurant on nights when we have BSO tickets. The staff does a very good job in getting people fed, and out the door in time to make their concert. The food is terrific, but even in the busy atmosphere as a diner, you never feel rushed. Nice job Saturday night."

"I am a chef and my wife ans I travel to Maryland once a year to see our grandkids. My wife and I try to go out for dinner at a nice restaurant in the Baltimore area once each time. Well this was the best as far as food goes! The service was good, food excellent and atmosphere hip. My wife doesn't like asparagus and it was part of the preparation on her sea bass but they had no problem substituting green beans for her instead! We don't drink but I did order a non alcoholic beer but they didnt carry one which was the only negative but not a big one. We would both recommend it!"

"Two of the party enjoyed delicious rockfish , unusual accompaniments - the beetroot shoots were intriguing, crab cake with fingerling potato cake passed muster and as always a delightful evening. Liked their Frisk "prickly" Riesling with the crab."

"I didn't end up using my reservation because my date got to the restaurant earlier than I did but they seated him immediately and everyone was extremely friendly. The service was excellent and we didn't have to wait a long time for our food even though the place was packed. The scenery was nice and I could see myself returning for drinks, dinner, lunch or even a late night find. Great!"

"On the Friday night we were there the restaurant and bar were hopping. A valet took the car and were seated with seconds once we entered the restaurant. Severs are polite, gracious and efficient. Drinks came quickly and pleased everyone. Shortly thereafter our server took our order for dinner and before long dinner was served. The runner who brought it did not have to ask who got what; they are sharp and well trained and simply put the right dish if front of the right guest. It shows that they want you to have a seamless experience and we did."

"The season is changing and so did the specials. City Cafe's Chef Jared offered super fresh oysters, delicious and with a mignonnette. The baramundi was fresh, tender, light and flaky. It was served over a turnip puree, and topped with fried, shredded brussel spouts; mmmmmmmmmmm great! Enjoy the warm, wonderful service, and the rest of the terrific, expansive and unique menu."

"We had a great brunch! The food was perfect and we had great service. Not much more you can ask for! We had a reservation, which was crucial as they fill up on Sunday mornings quite quickly. Definitely recommend doing that!"
