"This restaurant is a nice little place with good service, but it has lots if room for improvement.
1) super friendly servers, but they come by the table too often. It gets disruptive an you feel rushed. However when we needed one we had to wait even though they had few guests.

2) Food too expensive for what you get. I had their stingy nettle pasta which tasted great, but the $17+tax and tips was way too small. I'm a female and I was still hungry after the pasta and very small piece of complementary bread.

3) They charge you $2 bucks for water because its filtered.

4) Skip the dessert completely. It's $10 with boring choices and tiny servings.

After spending $35 I left hungry and disappointed.

This place looks nice but it's not with it."

"Went to Cibo based on vegan friendly notation on urbanspoon. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to indicate which dishes could be made vegan. Husband (not vegan) had the oysters as an appy and said they were very good. I had a nice mixed salad and the crispy polenta main. Husband had the linguine. All the food was very good. Husband also liked the large serving of tiramisu. Cibo was busy with a mostly theatre/symphony crowd. The orpheum is right across the street."

"I read the reviews across the web about this restaurant and most seemed impressed. I ordered the spaghetti and while it was decent, it was not impressive. I actually make better spaghetti. The spaghetti was dry, barely any sauce, but the flavouring of the meatballs was good, but the texture of the meatballs were dry. When I eat out, I"d prefer to have something better than what I can make at home, because while I"m a great cook, I'm not a trained chef. I was eating there during lunch, so really had no time to replace my order and I figured I'd cut my losses.
The service was good, but just good, not great. In particular, our waitress took the order of the people who sat down after us first. That is never okay."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The ingredients were fresh and the favour came through without too much salt as many other restaurants use.

One of the best meals we can remember in Vancouver. The best fresh pasta we've had outside Italy.

We appreciated the professional, unobtrusive service. The last thing we want is to be asked, "How is it tasting NOW?" three or four times - an annoying practice that seems to be proliferating in BC.

If you like authentic Italian cuisine you won't be disappointed."

"We were a group of 4 and 3 of us had pastas (all different) all of which were fine but easily could have been much better for the price. Beware the $2 per person "filtered water" charge that is added to the bill!!"

"We find this restaurant a little crowded. It is difficult for the servers to teach tables, and once patrons are seated it is very difficult to get up again if others have been seated at a nearby table."

"This is my favourite restaurants Vancouver restaurant. I wish I lived closer. If ever I have an event downtown I try to go there. I love the menu which always has unusual and tempting items. The servers are helpful without being intrusive. I love the fact that they use local products and feature BC wines. I also love the ability to share tapas style. I find the prices to be reasonable in comparison to the competition with similar quality food."

"Open table rates this restaurant at $$; however, it should br rated at $$$. This was fine but we were not looking for something so
Chic on this particular night. Having a menu posted outside the restaurant would have helped in this case.

"april was their spring lamb tasting month and was it outstanding! wow! so tasty! love the food. 4 course tasting menu with a semi-freddo for dessert. 1. lamb belly deep fried on the outside. fat, salty, and rich. 2. lamb carpaccio, divine! 3. mint riotta ravioli with lamb ragu. 4. seared lamb pieces, cooked medium rare on the outside. the semi freddo was very rich. i was so fully and happy. love the carpaccio, ravioli, and the bloody pieces of lamb."

"The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Everyone that worked there seemed genuinely happy and the manager went out of her way to show us her private room after our lunch.

"Food was delicious. Ambience was subdued and cosy. Nice.

Menu situation very confusing - several different documents not all provided at same time and why would one menu list bruschetta while the different types of bruschetta would appear in a DIFFERENT document? Not customer-friendly.

Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive enough but also came across as curt and arrogant. Her approach (she almost seemed to resent that we didn't order any dessert or coffee) added a negative note to our experience.

Prices were reasonable and I would consider going again - if we had a different server."

"Service was great, our glasses were filled with water as soon as needed. Our server had a great sense of humor. BUT all 4 of us found the main courses very salty. Because of this, I will not return unless the chef realizes that too much salt is bad for everyone. Why not let your patrons add salt to their food if they wish?"

"We were looking forward to a nice dinner and chatting to friends. About half an hour after we arrived a large party arrived. They had a reservation for 15 but 27 showed up. The restaurant accommodated the extra people, but at a cost to our enjoyment of our meal. The noise level was unacceptable, it was crowded and not pleasant. As a result we vowed we would not return to this restaurant. Too bad too, the food was good."

"Wonderful service, wonderful food and great ambiance. The only downside was that it was really slow which surprised me. We had an earlier reso at 7pm and it didn't start to pick up till much later. Bonus is that we had the undivided attention of the service staff who were great!"

"Service is above average but on every visit there are delays in producing the entrees. The result is worth the delay, but this is not an appropriate place for a fast dinner.

The wine list is deep and very good. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and makes fair and appropriate suggestions."

"We went to Cibo before a concert at the Orpheum and scheduled two hours’ time before the concert started. The service was excellent and we had no problem to get to the Orpheum in plenty of time. We availed ourselves of the special 3 course theater menu and the food was excellent and good value. We shall come again and recommend Cibo to our friends."

"Our meal was enjoyed greatly however we are pescatarians and would like to see more low fat fish and veggie options on the menu. The risotto could have been an option if veggie broth had been used.
We will return and hope to see a greater variety of this type of choice.

"Lovely place with all the right elements except the food was just okay. Bison ribeye arrived barely lukewarm and was overwhelmed by the horseradish on it. Companion's risotto was good but unremarkable. Wine suggestion, on the other hand, was stellar. Overall, I expect food to impress me at these prices and there are other places that do so. I won't be back."

"Cibo was a spectacular treat! We were at the Fanclub on Granville and decided to go elsewhere for dinner. Called up Opentable on my iphone, found them about a block and a half away and decided to go there. The food was exquisitly tasty and plentiful. The service was very attentive without being a nuisance and very knowledgeable for their wines and their food.
We would definately return to this location."
