"Bronzino was the best we have ever had. It was not on the menu that night, but the waiter checked with the chef and it was prepared to perfection for us. On par with the best Italian restauraunts in Italy. The gluten free and regular pastas were amazing. Could not tell the difference. Service was spot on. Room was wonderful.
Our bill was about $100.00 per person, but we had the truffle pasta as an expesive treat. The pasta dishes are big enough to split for a first course.
Just wonderful."

"I have been to this restaurant several times since its opening and I will continue to return as long as the food is this excellent and the service this professional. The pastas here (veal ravioli this time) are to die for, and are presented with the perfect al dente consistency. All of the staff is focused on consistent professionalism, including the very attractive young ladies at the door who had our coats waiting for us as we got up from the table. The experience is akin to a fine restaurant on the upper east side of NYC. The crowd is a bit geriatric but this is likely a reflection of the price point."

"This is our fifth time dining at Pelago, but our first time having lunch there. The food was just as outstanding, with one minor hiccup, one our patron's meat balls were a bit cook--the chef however did send out an excellent replacement. The rest of meal was fabulous. The lunch menu is more limited but the quality is still there."

"This was a delicious evening. The room is sophisticated and softly luxurious, there are even small stools for your handbag.....Started out with a soft shell crab appetizer, wanted the pasta w/ sausage and peas but thought it would be too much food. Our waiter offered to split a half order for us. It was so delicious, I savored every bite. My husband had the lamb shank and I had the salmon.......When I could not finish my entree and asked them to "box" it, they did and kept it at the host station until we left....so much better than bringing a bag to the table. The service good and not overpowering...we will go again."

"Excellent, though pricey, Italian restaurant. We shared a fettucine with black truffles that was disappointing; the pasta was perfectly done al dente but the sauce and seasoning lacked punch. It came across as rather bland without enough truffles or salt (and I'm NOT a salt hound). The kitchen redeemed itself with the roasted rabbit and the mushroom risotto. Both were seasoned and done to perfection."

"Found the restaurant using opentable reviews and zagat - they seemed in line (very very high marks on both), so I made a reservation for a work event. I get to eat at a lot of nice restaurants through work, and this has got to be one of the best italian places I've ever eaten at. Their pasta is phenomenal - completely al dente! (Even my coworker, a vegetarian, who ordered an off-menu custom dish, loved it! Said it's the best pasta he's ever had.) And their salads were fresh and flavorful - not necessarily because they overloaded their salads with sauces, but because of the pure quality of the ingredients on the plate. People in Chicago don't seem to know this place by name yet, but it's really only a matter of time!"

"Food was good. But it was way overpriced, and the service was obsequious. Most wines were priced in the hundreds, several in the thousands! We selected one of the least expensive wines: $58 for an adequate Sicilian Nero d'Avila that cost us $11 retail. I know that restaurants charge at least twice retail, sometimes even 3 times, but 5 times retail is just extortionate! Secondly, the server upsold my wife on a "small green salad" to accompany her appetizer (she ordered no entree). He mentioned no price; it showed up as $14! The entire meal (2 apps, 1 entree, 1 cocktail, the wine, & no dessert) came to $234 after tax and tip. Definitely not worth it! Also, the service was a parody of good service, and servers openly criticized each other."

"A very romantic restaurant, especially if you get a cozy table for two by the window. The service is fantastic, the spread of bread and meats to start the meal is generous. I highly recommend the pasta tasting, my favorite of which was the veal ravioli with pistachio sauce. The black cod filet wrapped in lettuce was a bit disappointing. The cod was a little overcooked, and I think it was just regular cod, not black cod as it stated on the menu. The chocolate truffle dessert with amarena cherries was good though, as were the homemade cookies that ended our meal. I would come back - pasta was the best part of the meal!"

"We ate at Pelago on Saturday evening based on ratings at Open Table, Zagat, etc. Our food was very good (we both had the risotto appetizer, my wife had the salmon entree, I had the shrimp and scallops) but the total meal cost over $200 including tip. The value was lacking, and OpenTable ought to survey its members on perceived value. (We had one glass of wine apiece, and no dessert.) While the entrees are priced (as a rule) in the $30 range, it's the price of appetizers and desserts that drives up the tab. The typical soup or salad starter can cost $18, likewise the (not large) desserts. Also had three couples seated so close together that we might as well have been eating together."

"Not concerned about cost we wanted a highly rated house that had Italian. When we walked in on a Wednesday at 8 and saw only a few tables taken, that shoul have been a sign. Staff was trained and courteous. Perhaps a bit too swarming. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and split.

"I have eaten here many times and it is phenomenal. The food is unfailingly exquisite, the service excellent and it is a very beautiful, intimate space. Every detail and extra touch makes you feel like you are in a very special place. It is also warm and friendly in tone. This restaurant is an expensive treat and worth every penny!"

"My partner and I are new residents to the gold coast and dined at Pelago on the strength of OpenTable Reviews. It was a spectacular meal. We split a pasta appetizer of linguini with Black Truffle sauce. It was perfect. Could have eaten that as my meal. For an entree I had the salmon special which was a carpaccio of salmon with a lemon butter sauce. It was cooked perfectly. Really great. My partner had the risotto as listed on the menu. He was thrilled. The service was just what you hope it's going to be. Elegant, unobtrusive, efficient. We can't wait to come back! Thank you for such a great meal."

"In the Windy purely for an eating weekend to celebrate my birthday. Went to Pelago for lunch and GLAD we did. I had the veal ravioli and sea bream two-course option. After the veal ravioli, I wonder if I can ever eat veal ravioli anywhere else again. Certainly spoiled by Chef Mauro. The sea bream with potato was simply DIVINE. Husband had the pappardelle and salmon with lemon chives. PERFECTLY done. Daughter LOVES the pappardelle. Dessert was great too.
Ambience was great (I love the color scheme). Server Nebbiolo was outstanding.
Looking forward to be back!"

"2nd time dining here. A year ago, everything was stunningly superb! One of my all time favorites: service was impeccable & sharp, food was exquisite & wondrous and the restaurant itself was elegantly understated.
The greeting this time, gracious and warm as if long time friends from the moment we stepped in the door. Service was every bit as flawless and deft. The food was once again glorious with two exceptions: the grilled squid appetizer could have used a bit more time in an acid brine/marinade to break down some of it's chewiness. It too closely resembled octopus for my liking. Also, the special featuring scallops and shrimp had a pungent fishy smell & taste as well as the scallops being rubbery. The fish sous was off his game?"

"The staff was wonderful. We had to attend a play down the street and they held our leftovers for us as well as kept the bottle of Champagne we were enjoying open and chilled. When the play was over, we headed back to Pelago and finished our bottle. Very nice!"
