Provencal cuisine in an intimate, cozy setting. A zinc bar, banquettes, flowers, and an attentive staff ensure your comfort and satisfaction. Seasonal ingredients and simplicity of preparation distinguish our food.
"The service at Le Gigot is really the shining element. Our waiter was attentive, in a great mood and really knew the menu. The food was tasty and the menu had lots of rich, provincial options. The leg of lamb was absolutely delicious. At the end of the meal, however, our waiter let us know that they only take AMEX. Fortunately, one of us had one, but really they should take all major credit cards. If one of us were dining alone that could have been a problem. Overall, I would definitely go back."

"My husband and I absolutely adore this romantic little restaurant. We always feel as though we are in Paris when we dine there. The food is delicious and the wine list is impressive. The owner, Pamela is always the perfect hostess and John, Derrick and Daniel are so very friendly and attentive. This restaurant is truly a gem."

"That I've had in the US. After traveling to Lyon recently I've been looking to relive some gastronomic favorites. Le Gigot is my new go to for hearty French fare. Tiny place and no outdoor seating, but food makes up for it."

"really attentive without being intrusive service, both from the waiter and barman, let me wait for a friend without any pressure, helpful with wine suggestion, let us linger for a while, food was great for one person who wanted to eat lightly, the other wanting traditional French fare"

"Brought my parents here for Mother's Day brunch. The food was very good (both parents had the Eggs Benedict while I had the omelette). Service was that of a five-star restaurant and the space was warm and cozy."

"We were in from out of town and looking for a low-key French bistro done well. Le Gigot was just that place -- unpretentious, good food and service. We were surrounded by "regulars", which always speaks well of a restaurant. It's in tight quarters, but not at all unpleasant in that regard- good things come in small packages."

"Le Gigot is like stepping into a wonderful French bistro in the Marais except you are in NYC's West Village. It is charmingly small, the service is warm and welcoming and the food is authentic French bistro cuisine. The chef uses fresh local produce and meats in the preparation of your meal. Not to be missed dishes are the Bouillabaisse, the roasted leg of lamb or the Boeuf Bourguignon. The specials are often so appealing that is is hard to choose. We have always left feeling happy and satisfied. We have been going to Le Gigot for 15 years (they have been open for 17). Living in San Francisco, we would come to Le Gigot the first night of every trip to NYC. Having recently moved to NYC, we will be there more often."

"We have eaten here four times in two years and always had a great meal--brunch, lunch and dinner. While the tables are almost as tight as Paris the food and service make it worthwhile and it's still comfortable. Oysters by the piece and sparkling wine by the glass are a great afternoon break. If you're going to the Met it's only a couple of blocks from the #1 train and a much superior value to the restaurants around Lincoln Center."

"The brunch--French toast, paysan omlette, eggs Benedict--all standard brunch entrees, were prepared and presented exceptionally well. The waiter was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The music, a combination of jazz and Broadway standards created a cozy mood without disrupting conversations. We, a group of four friends, spent an extremely enjoyable Sunday morning. We will all go there again very soon."

"Great little gem of a restaurant. Great food, service, and ambiance. Located on a lovely street in the west village really worth the visit. We had a frisée salad and wild goose oysters. Then duck confit and hangar steak. All superb. We shared the bread pudding dessert which had a lovely creme anglaise sauce ( think the sauce is called creme anglaise). The dessert was also superb. Very very highly recommended."

"Love this restaurant. We go whenever we know we'll be in the neighborhood. The menu has quite a few choices but not too many. The food is very good and service is friendly. Make a reservation if you know you'll be in the area. We'll be back."

"Have you ever gone to a restaurant PERFECT in EVERY way? This gem is truly perfect. We go on a regular basis. Amazing service. Owner Pam warmly greets all guests and makes them feel special. Candle lit atmosphere with french music makes on feel they are in France. Zagat rated as best bistro in NYC and no wonder. From the Crab cakes with no bread or filler, lamb done perfectly, all dishes magnificent. And brunch is wonderful with OJ squeezed from 3 different types of oranges making it the best tasting OJ on the planet......I recommend this restaurant and once you go you will return again and again as we do."

"We arrived early because we had to see a show at NYU Tisch. The staff/owners were extermely hospitable and made some great wine selections for us. The bouillabaisse was excellent and my wife had the special fish (bronzino) dish. Absolutely nothing to complain about and every thing to complement regarding this cute little bistro!"

"It was not brought sufficiently to our attention that Le Gigot, against almost universal practice, accepts only American Express cards. Consequently, we had to accept insults from a waiter for not being more attentive; there was a small line warning diners at the bottom of the menu. Fortunately, we had just enough cash to pay the bill."

"Have eaten here both of our last two visits to NYC. Will keep it on our short list of restaurants to keep returning to. Like the food, wine list, waiter and intimate atmosphere. We have enjoyed the mussels, oysters, cassoulet and duck. Price is reasonable to us."

"Great little hide-a-way restaurant down in the Village. This is the smallest restaurant we've been to in terms of the number of tables and size of the dining floor and appreciated the intimacy. Attentive service and terrific food. Staff is extremely knowledable about their wine list and offered a tasting of a couple different wines before choosing. Will definitely return."

"Three of us had dinner at Le Gigot. My friend's rabbit and my husband's seafood risotto were much to their liking. However, I had the lobster risotto, which had carrots, celery (I think), and herbs in it. I suppose this is a very French preparation, but wasn't so appealing to me. I'll try something else next time. We love Le Gigot!"

"We had an enjoyable dinner. Definitely a cozy restaurant with tight space, but we had a late reservation and by the end of the evening, we were one of two tables left and there was no rush for us to leave. A relaxed, neighborhood feel. Waiter was great. Salad was amazing - the French always master the dressing."

"Cozy, inviting, with warm service, Le Gigot offers classic French bistro fare that's tasty and nicely presented. The crab cake is succulent, with no bready filler. Eggs were perfectly cooked. Side salads were fresh and not overdressed. I'll definitely be going back, and not just for brunch."

"There are no negatives about Le Gigot: food, service, ambiance are all wonderful. Anyone who has a problem has unrealistic expectations. We have yet to order one thing on the menu--or an off-the-menu special--that we would not order again--and we have been coming here for years."

"My first time at Le Gigot. The food was outstanding. The service was good but at times slow which is strange for such a small place. If you don't like tight quarters then you may not like Le Gigot - but we loved it. Like being in Paris! Buyer beware - they only serve beer and wine so you cannot get your Pastis! I did not realize it until we got there. No big deal but I wish I had known as the birthday boy would have liked a cocktail. I had the coq a vin - seriously delicious. As was the beef burginoine that 2 in the party had. Also not to be missed - the creme brule."

"A really excellent dinner in a wonderful restaurant. Service and ambiance can't be beat. If you haven't gone you have to go and enjoy. For dinner we both had the frisée salad. Excellent. For the main course I had the coq au vin special which was perfect and my wife had the risotto special which also was excellent. For dessert we shared the bread pudding which was soaked in a cream sauce. Superb. Our wine was a very nice St. Emilion."

"We've been to Le Gigot several times and enjoyed it but we probably won't go back. Food was either overcooked or not terribly tasty. Rabbit stew overcooked, bouillabaisse- the flavor was off although the seafood was cooked well and the rouille was good. Apparently the dessert a brioche pudding was delicious."

"This restaurant feels like it has been around for a long time, deservedly. It is the kind of place that would impress your dining partners with how clever you are to have found it, which makes me sorry it has taken me this long! There is no pretense, and attention is paid to appropriate details. Food and service was very good! My dinner was a mesclun salad, really fresh and well dressed, superior to 99%, a crisp white wine selected by the waiter which paired well with my skate prepared with a buttery sauce and served with crisp vegetables, and coffee and creme brûlée to finish. Con: no bar. Pro: individual linens in the washroom. It was nice to not rake my hands with paper or pass them through the blower at the auto wash!"

"Went for brunch and had an excellent experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. My son's French Toast made with brioche was some of the best to be found anywhere. Eggs Benedict: Eggs were perfectly done and the sauce was delicate and just the right amount. Crab cake without any filling -gluten free - and their tartar sauce - a mix of tartar and Benedict was a true palate pleaser . On the smaller side but a place that can transport you to a small bistro in Southern France."
