"This was a great find as we'd not been here before. We had an absolutey lovely evening here. The food was simply delicious. My husband (who dines in many fine restaurants) said it was one of the best meals he has ever eaten. The service was attentive, prompt and discreet. My only ctiticism is that the decor is a bit quirky and dated. However, I would wholeheartedly recommend La Panetiere to anyone looking for a special restaurant."

"We have not been to La Panetiere for several years and decided to dine there last Saturday night. The restaurant is beautiful and
well maintained, with an authentic French country ambiance. However, the menu was uninspired, the prices were very high,

"My issue at this restaurant is that I never can find anything on the menu that I particularly want to eat, despite the storied reputation of the place and the fact that there are no bad meals there. Ended up having Dover sole by default. It turned out to be the best I ever had anywhere that I remember, served with some kind of cauliflower preparation over the top. Before that, I had a salad that was wonderful, and before that, a soup was brought which I had to refuse because I do not eat lobster. It was immediately replaced by an eggplant soup that was delicious.
One odd note for Open Table users -- available times were quite limited for that Thursday evening. But when we got there, there was plenty of room for the entire evening."

"We finally returned to La Panetiere after several years and were thrilled to find it had returned to it's oroginal splendor. This was a favorite of my families for special occasions but about 10 years back something changed and the quality was not up to par. After being away we decided to give a another chance not only was the food back to the splendor we rememeber so was Albert the best Maitre 'd of all time (he returned about 8 years ago). Wish we had known we would have gone back sooner."

"Excellent lunch for a special occasion. Comte souffle was light and delicately flavored with pea coulis. Snapper perfectly cooked and artichokes three ways was subtle and delicious. (Puree, barigoule, shaved salad.) And the black currant (cassis) charlotte was divine, along with verbena ice cream. Nothing ordinary about this very enjoyable meal at the unbelievably reasonable prix fixe of $32."

"We got there early with two kids. No problem at all. Best salad I've ever had. appetizer was crab and avocado. Best crab I've ever had. We had wines by glass, very good cab and syrah for the money. I only looked at Rhone wines by the bottle. They were more than fairly priced. Service was exceptional. When was the last time you went to a restaurant and had two dishes that you eat frequently that are the best you've ever had??"

"This is the second time we have been here. We love it. The corn/tomato soup was a feast for the eye and the palate. I had lamb shank which was a tender as butter. The service is very attentive but not at all obtrusive. The decor is simple and has the feel of a farmhouse We have gone both times with Groupons and had a good choice of dishes - not exactly the same each time. There is an extensive wine list (although we didn't order wine). Tables are a bit close together, but the restaurant is not excessively noisy even when full. Definitely a special occasion place! So if you have a special person in your life this is a place to share with him/her."

We had the salad, the seafood pasta that was really good, the fish was fresh and the pasta was cooked to perfection.

"Twenty-eight years ago Jacques Loupiac created a Provencal oasis in Rye, NY. It is a delight to be there. The cuisine is a modern interpretation of classic French from the south of France. the staff is warm but professional, wanting only to please and to assure that you and your party will enjoy the experience there. Try the lobster casserole, the oysters with leeks and beurre blanc, the comte soufflé, the rack of lamb, the venison and the country pate. Dover sole is fileted at tableside.
The only thing which could be improved is the décor. In an effort to modernize, Jacques painted over the wonderful trompe l'oeil murals, changed the sconces and put up squares of fabric instead of art. It does not work and comes across as tacky."

"I brought a few friends that was never there and it was probably timing but we were neglected. We did't get menu's right away and service was slow. I had to ask for a waiter. They could have been more staffed due to restaurant week."

"La Panetiere was a beautiful restaurant. Most of the previous reviews were accurate. I would say to men if you are not planning to wear a Sports jacket - kindly reconsider. Other than that I am glad I went!"
