Ralph & Kacoo's is located in the very heart of the French Quarter, on 519 Toulouse St, right off of Decatur. Our experienced chefs are dedicated to preparing each meal to the classic standard of Louisiana seafood that we've been serving since 1969.Our menu is world famous with popular favorites like Shrimp Beignets, and Blackened Gator. Our relaxed, family friendly atmosphere sets the stage for a great dining experience that’s affordable, (Our kid’s menu starts at only 3.99) friendly and fun! We cater to large parties and events, and we are the only restaurant in the French Quarter that can take in large groups of patrons. We can elegantly accommodate 700 people and we offer private party rooms for patrons looking to celebrate a wedding, graduation, birthday or other special event at no extra charge to the client.

"Ralph & Kacoo's is a great place to have dinner, enjoy live music and great food. The atmosphere is casual, family dining. The menu had a good variety of seafood and Cajun dishes. Definitely try the starters. We had a large party and split our table into groups of 5 people and shared our dishes family-style. It was a great way to sample a lot of food without ending up with a large bill. I highly recommend this place."

"After reading such great reviews, we decided to try this place out. Very disappointing though. Food was mediocre at best. My fried catfish was more breading than fish. I love oysters Rockefeller and ended up not eating our order; they were more spinach than anything else. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. Definitely would never go back. There are too many other great restaurants to go to."

"With the current trend of high prices and small portions, its very refreshing to see a large portion of food on a plate. The seafood platter at this place could feed a small army. Overflowing with all kinds of goodies. What a value for a very expensive part of town! Please come back to Houston!!!"

"I was in town with a convention and was told by my hotel to try this place. Food is better than most I have tried in the french quarter and my group had no problem getting a large table for 10. We were just around the corner and was pleased at how close it was to Jackson Square. Oysters on the 1/2 shell were huge and the oysters Rockefeller were piled high with yummy spinach and bacon. My favorite so far this trip."

"I am not a seafood lover, but my family is. I normally have to eat bland chicken or veggie plates when we go out for seafood, but not here. I tried the Ribeye steak and it was the best steak I have ever had in New Orleans, and believe me, I eat a lot of steaks. They put some sort of butter sauce on top and it makes the steak so flavorful. No take out boxes needed that night, I ate it all. The family loved the seafood, but since I paid the bill, I get to brag on the beef!"

"The sign outside of Ralph and Kacoo's advertises traditional New Orleans music. Funny, I didn't realize that the works of Billy Joel and Elton John are representative of this genre. The "dueling" pianists are competent but very conservative. The food is bland by New Orleans standards, which might make it a safe choice for the less adventurous. On a positive note, our server was as frustrated as we were with the music."

"This trip we happened to be in town for my birthday and to see Wicked. Ralph and Kacoos is always a great place to celebrate. The pianos were playing but not to loud and distracting. Our waiter was there with good wine suggestions, and explanations of each dish. My wife and I always enjoy lunch or dinner here!"

"Wife and I attended dinner on a weekday night. We were a bit skeptical going to the French Quarter due to the reputation of restaurants, but were pleasantly surprised by Ralph & Kacoo's.
The quality of service was much higher than we typically are accustomed to seeing at most FQ restaurants. Everyone from the manager to the wait staff to the hostess were all very pleasant, but more importantly involved in delivering high quality service. It always impresses me when my wife and I do not have our drink glasses go empty. Even the manager got involved in this! They seem to be handling several groups at a time and there were smiles on all exiting patrons. We left with no complaints!"

"They have great menu and lots of space which is nice in the French quarters area. If you want open bar seating for watching a game, it's nice dinner place and if you would like a nice intimate setting for a romantic dinner, regular dining area has nice ambiance. Many seafood and poultry options on the menu. Great local place to eat.
I was specially pleased that alcohol rates weren't typical rip-off like other local destinations. 2 for $4 beer (bottle) with dinner; can't beat that."

"The worst part of the experience on 5/18 was the service. We sat close to the bar so the bartender was our server. She barely paid attention to us. She forgot our silverware and plates and took our orders very directly and rudely. We ordered 3 hurricanes and did not receive water. We had to ask for water twice to which her response was a head nod-suggesting it was inconvenient for her to retrieve them-only for the hostess to bring us our waters! Not once did our server check on us about our food or anything else. She also forgot to put in my sister's order and did not apologize, dropped off the other two entrees and walked away without an explanation of what was going on. Once she dropped of the check, she stood there until we paid."

"Love this place. Very exciting with the dueling pianos. The piano player took my daughter's request and she was so thrilled. Our food was great but the new items on the menu were the highlight of our evening. No one but no one makes Lobster Bisque in the south, but this place had it and it was spectacular. "Cajun food done right! My wife and I were in town for a wedding and came here for a meal. The food was great, the portions were huge, and our server Tammy, was so sweet. She was able to help us with some directions and even walked us out the front door to make sure we were headed in the right direction. "What a great night we had. In town for a convention, the hotel led us to this place. We were blown away by the southern hospitality. Sitting at the front of the restaurant was so special because we got to people watch out the front window. So much fun. The Lobster Mac was as good as I have ever had and the ambiance was to energetic. Gonna be back."

"Had lunch on Mother's day for my wife and daughter. Both of them loved the place and the food! I had blackened shrimp and is probably one of the best I have had! The house pepper sauce is great with it as well, if you like spicy food. Waitress was very attentive despite how busy it was. Given the fact it was Mothers Day, traffic in the area was terrible and took us 45 mins to find parking (it's always hard in the French Quarter) and the restaurant was a little loud with a lot of other parties celebrating. But other than that, we had a good time and would definitely return (just at a less busy time!)"

"Have dined here numerous times over the years, but our recent experience was not on a par with the past. The appetizers were good, but the entrees were mediocre for our group of eleven. It was also extremely loud, and not from the crowd because the place was deserted. There was a piano player playing and singing, which is fine, but even though we were seated in an alcove, or maybe because of that, but I don't think so, we could not converse with anyone other than those we were seated next to without practically shouting."

"The first thing I noticed is the sea of brown indoor/outdoor carpet and tables awkwardly spaced too far apart to create any ambiance. Unexpected to dine in the French Quarter at a place reminiscent of the large waterfront tourist traps found in my hometown of Washington DC.
Food was mediocre at best except for the hush puppies which were excellent. The service was truly outstanding."

"The service was absolutely ABYSMAL. We had a server who was inexperienced, immature, and didn't know the first thing about tending to customers. We had to ask - she did not volunteer - any information on specials. Our 2nd courses were brought out without her or any bus-boy/girl clearing our appetizer plates. My fish was overcooked & dried out.
I will never EVER go back there again and will tell all to stay away!"

I ordered their special which was a pile of blackened thin catfish filets covered in a spectacular sauce made with crawfish tails, shrimp and crab meat. OMG it was good.

Our server Liz made us feel like part of the family.

"Food was OK but service was terrible. Our waiter, Raymond, twice forgot that we had ordered appetizers. He actually asked us again a second time 10 minutes after we placed the order. He then forgot to put the order in, so we got it at the same time as our meal. Raymond made a point to insult the piano players as being talentless and poor singers. The meal itself was OK. Nothing special. We were asked if we wanted dessert and we said yes. instead of the dessert tray, Raymond brought our check. It was Saturday night and I guess they wanted to move us along. We told the waiter how we felt about the service and he actually removed the comment card from the check so we could not fill it out. Poor experience."

"I booked a dinner for a medium sized group (6 people). It was very convenient to be able to get a table at a prime time (7:30 PM). The food was good (but not great), but the prices were reasonable (at least for New Orleans). They have a typical selection of seafood, mostly fried or grilled. My blackened redfish was excellent, but it was a special so you may not find it on the menu."

"We were able to get a reservation which is the main reason we chose this restaurant. After being seated, we waited for over an hour for our food and no one ordered anything that would take a lot of preparation-lobster mac and cheese, salads, shrimp embrochette. When we finally got our food, one of the orders was wrong. By the time they brought out the right dish, everyone else was done. Food was mediocre at best. We will not be returning to this restaurant. There's carpet on the floor and a self playing piano at the front of the restaurant; just a little cheezy."
