"Pascal opened this place, I think, to provide excellent food at a good price, during the recent hard economic times, and it is still THE BEST. Fixed price dinner with first course, entree, dessert for $20 and fixed price lunch even less, and the food is really good. The rest of the menu is reasonably priced and equally wonderful. They have wonderful soups - mine this time was non dairy carrot, and excellent - a good wine list, a large space and comfortable seating. Highly recommend it!"

"Service is great, and it's not too busy at lunch time. It's conveniently located on the outside of Fashion Island, 30 feet away from valet parking. 20 feet from handicapped parking (I had my 88 year old father with me). As with 99% of Newport Beach restaurants, it can be a little loud when it gets busy, but maybe I'm just old. Dad had the shrimp Louis, which I wish they would ask if you want cut, but they don't, and I ordered what I always get there - the fabulous trout. My only complaint about the trout is that it comes literally swimming in butter, so if you order it and don't want all the butter, be sure to request it. Great atmosphere, fabulous food, incredible service. A favorite of my entire adult family. I wouldn't take kids."

"Very comfortable, large restaurant. Open relaxed feel, noisy, not intimate. They had a $19 3 course prix fixe dinner which was a great value, otherwise fairly pricey. Very good frites. Easy parking."

"My mother and I ordered the fixed price menu. My mom ordered the french onion soup and when the server brought it, neglected to say how ultra hot, hot, hot it was. Needless to say my mom burnt her finger on the handle. She said it was very salty and was adding ice cubes to cool it off and dilute the broth. The salad is always lightly dressed and barely discernable so I always have to ask for more because it is wonderful when you can taste it. The salmon and filet mignon were both excellent and so was the chocolate mousse and creme caramel. Service could have been better especially when we arrived at 4 pm (place was empty) as to be able to attend a 6:30 Musical at the Arts Center. We waited a long time for desert to arrive."

"As far as could tell, there was no cohesive plan or structure regarding food service or knowledge. The wait staff was not particularly versed regarding the menu and the service was haphazard. We had a hodge podge of people tending to us- consequently the accuracy and timeliness of our orders was off to say the least. Out of 5 plates, 4 were good, 1 was passable, none were excellent.
For a half empty restaurant the service could have been MUCH better."

"Highly recommended by a friend, this was a great disappointment. The food was passable, but not "French" - other than the escargot, which was floating in melted butter. The "pepper crusted" filet had little pepper taste, but it did have quite a bit of fat and tendons...
The best part of the dinner: the soufflé, which was actually hot and very good. The best part of the service: the waiter was quite pleasant and well-spoken - but was hardly seen. Had to ask for drink refills twice, and waited literally 10 minutes for the check. The best part of the evening: the check - it was lower than expected for a "French" dining experience. Would never return."

"I'm generally not that picky when it comes to quality of service, but this evening set an all time low.
A fairly slow Saturday night at the restaurant, we had to ask the waiter for bread 3 times over the course of 20 minutes, before he finally brought a basket. When water was brought to the table, 2 of the glasses had large lipstick stains still on them. When asked to replace, the busboy brought back one clean one & another glass with obvious lipstick still on the rim. Very disappointing. And gross!
We also ordered wine but the bottle delivered was hot to the touch. Another wine was ordered & we were brought the wrong bottle.

"While we have been to this restaurant, many times, our visit this Easter, was not very special. Pascal missed the mark. They sat us in the bar area, with my 91 year old mother. Very noisy, waitress obviously did not want to be their on Sunday, she mentioned she worked the bar area, not waitressing. Everything went fine, until we ended up waiting almost an hour for our food. The people next to us, who came in way after us, got served, before we did. I asked the waitress what was going on, she said, their was a mix up in the kitchen, never appologized once for the delay. When our order did arrived, my wife poached eggs, were very hard, and my Mothers hash, was a steak. Waitress said she got things mixed up. All and all a bad day."

"My wife and I attended the recent Easter Brunch that offered and we were glad we did. The choices were many to the poimt that we had a tough time deciding but we did decide after speaking with our server.
This resturant never dissapoints, they always have great meal choices and deals. They recently started up with their Sunset Dinners again, with the best price going for a full meal.
We enjoy sitting at the bar which is full service for food, drinks are always changing with the seasons but if you have a favorite, they can make it any time during the year."

"We went for the Sunset Dinner special at $13.00 for either Salmon or Filet Mignon. Has the Filet Mignon which was cooked to perfection on a bed of gruyere potato gratin and nicely seasoned aspargus. Be careful ordering glass by the carafe as Pascal's carafe is only one and one-half glass however the cab, Shadow Ridge, was just as great as the meal. "We had a lovely family dinner and great first French cuisine dining experience here. The staff were nice, and the courses on the pre fixe menu came out very fast, however. When ordering a drink my boyfriend offered up his ID and the waiter wasn't sure on the policy and just asked him to verbalize that he was over 21, but then 10 minutes came back to the table without the beer and asked to actually see his ID, it was weird that he wasted time by not asking in the first place. Also we ordered milk, they forgot so we asked them to forget it."

"we went for OC Restaurant week. Food was good, but too much black pepper!!! Have to remember to tell them to hold it. our waiter was a bit out of it. at one point, he poured a carafe of wine into the wrong glass, and ruined our bottled wine!

"Unfortunately - and likely due to the Valentine's rush, I was seated at a table in the lounge that was made into formal dining table (albeit on high seats and near the bar). The unfortunate part was that my wife and I were seated next to three businessmen, who were oblivious to the desired romantic ambiance. The food was great, service was good, but I would have given a better rating if I would have been moved (as requested - and denied by the hostess) to one of the several empty tables available for a party of two and away from the boisterously loud businessmen. But then even when they did leave, I found myself in the corner of the bar - on a lounge table - for Valentines Day. :("

"This restaurant has amazing food! Me and a friend went for OC restaurant week and were amazed at how affordable the food was for the three course meal we had! I went on the Monday of restaurant week and it was pretty busy. The ambiance was very romantic but the noise level was pretty loud."
