Leunigs Bistro has been a Burlington institution since it opened in 1980. Located on the corner of Church and College Streets on the Marketplace, it invites all passers by to visit Burlington's own little Parisian Cafe. The decor and ambiance will make you think you're in Paris, and the food will make you think you've died and gone to heaven. A member of the Vermont Fresh Network, Leunigs chefs prepare the best of local ingredients with a worldly accent. Live jazz with dinner Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Lunch served Monday-Friday, Dinner every night, and Brunch on the weekend. Great wines by the glass or bottle, full liquor service. Best people watching in town. Reservations accepted, but not necessary. Every meal served with the panache of Paris and the value of Vermont, right in the center of town.
"We were seated within 10 minutes of our 8:15 pm reservation time. There is no place to wait, so it felt crowded, bumping people at the bar. But once seated, our waiter was friendly, the beer cold, and the food came incredibly quickly. Our group had varied dishes including maple-almond encrusted salmon, herbed lamb loin with risotto-style couscous (a favorite), fruit and local cheese plate. All were greatly enjoyed. We would happily return."

"We had a wonderful dinner at Leunig's - six of us celebrating the end of a college year. The food is fantastic and the service great as well. It's not cheap but it's worth every penny. We'll be back!"

"Leunig's consistently delivers an outstanding dining experience. The food is fresh, meticulously prepared, and delicious. The wait staff is attentive, but not intrusive. Best of all, it is very reasonably priced."

"Three of us dined there on 4/7/13. We had 8 PM reservations and arrived at 7:50. Being told that our table was not ready, we went to the bar and waited, and waited until our table was ready at 8:35. Reason? A large party in the upstairs room. By the time we were seated, three entrees were out as were two appetizers and, finally, the bottle of wine we requested (the bartender's suggested replacement was very good, though). Another reason for the missing menu items: they were changing to a Spring menu the following day. Given the time we had salads and appetizers (my daughter had an entree). The food was okay but not exceptional. Our waitress was excellent, and the hostess apologized profusely, taking 20% off our bill which was appreciated."

"I'm what you might call a food pro. For over 30 years I have made a living photographing food, and whilst doing so, I have learned from some very talented chefs (I am an excellent cook and do not tolerate mediocrity). I like to be impressed by the quality of the food, and the pairings. Leunigs does not disappoint. The menu is quite varied, fit for many tastes and the prep and presentation is excellent. We arrived late on a holiday sunday (easter), but still there was a good choice available. Opted for something light, a salad with chicken. The salad was superb, the chicken just right. Charred ever so slightly, yet still moist and tender. The greens, parsnip "frites" were just perfect. The wait staff were subtle, helpful. A great experience."

"Leunig's is one of our favorite restaurants. I have been there many times over a 30 year period of time and it is always a very good dining experience with unique and attractive patrons and decor in a very progressive and beautiful Burlington Vermont downtown."

"I've been here many times. It's one of the most popular downtown restaurants, popular with us locals, with outdoor seating in season. Located in the heart of the Church Street Marketplace, it's also a good venue for people-watching from the outdoor tables, for those inclined to watch people. The food is well above average, the menu interesting and offbeat (e.g., "duck frites" = chicken tenders, but with duck). Inside, I prefer a table in the back, as those in the front and along the side can be, for me, uncomfortably close to one another. Reservations are a good idea. Visitors to Burlington should definitely give it a try."

"I had the Beef Bourguingnon and my date had the Cavatappi Carbornara and both dishes were excellent. They tasted amazing. The service was great and very friendly. My date and I had an amazing time! She couldn't be happier that we went there. Leunig's Bistro is the best restaurant on church street. I can't stop recommending it!"

"Our only small complaint is that the pork loin was dry. All the sides on the plate were delicious, though, so I didn't go hungry, by any means. The caesar salad was exceptional. My husband loved the scallops."

"This restaurant was adorable. They sat us at a little table by the window so we could look out at the lights of Church Street and people watch. The waitress popped up after about five minutes of us sitting there, she disappeared for most of our dinner and was slow to take our dishes out of the way when we were finished. Another couple was seated at a table right next to us, about five inches apart. It was really awkward. The food was just amazing, it made up for the other things. I had the filet and it just melted in my mouth. We finished with a Guinness chocolate cake that was absolutely fantastic."
