"Wife's birthday, Father's day for me. Shrimp cocktail and crabcake appetizers. Crabcakes would have benefited from a little grilling, but that's my preference. Shrimp were large, fresh and tasty. My 10 oz filet mignon was cooked to perfection, and was the best steak I have ever been served in any restaurant. Wife's shrimp scampi was flavorful. Desserts were a wow! Waiter was attentive and professional. Any issues were quickly resolved with no fuss. We definitely plan to return in the near future for another great dining experience!"

"Our experience was disappointing. It did not match our previous wonderful time here. Food in general was good, but appeared to have been prepared well before we arrived at restaurant. Caesar salad was made with iceberg, rather than romaine, and was room temperature. Appears it was made in morning and sat out, rather than being kept chilled. We had the chef specialty of peppercorn steak. It was very tender, but lacked taste - again feeling like this was over-aged. Staff was outstanding! Very attentive and friendly. Jeff did an excellent job with wine cart. While sample wines were excellent, they are over-priced.

"Went to Porters with my husband and another couple. We actually had a nice time, to my surprise. (I had a sub-par experience the last time, but our friends wanted to go.) The atmosphere was great, and the wine was perfect - a nice Spatlase Riesling from Bernkastel. (Mosel River/Germany) Jeff, the wine steward, recommended it, and it was a nice fit for all. We finished the bottle. (Around $80.00 a bottle - a good deal when it's $20.00 a glass.) We didn't order appetizers, but the Lobster Bisque was fantastic, and my friends enjoyed the Steak and Barley. The House Salad was also tasty. As for the meal, my friends loved the Peppered Loin Steak and the Pork Loin. My husband's Ribeye was too tough, and I was not impressed with the Mixed Grill."

"We've been to Porters several times and really enjoy it. This time the service was a little slow. We waited longer than normal to be met by our server and the main course was slow coming out of the kitchen (compared to what we have experienced in the past). Finally, the lobster was a little over cooked."

"We are fortunate enough to visit Porter several times per year. Apparently the word is getting out in that the occupied tables grow every time. it is a great place for an unhurried experience when catching up with or simply enjoying being with friends. The food is always predictably consistent and excellent. Everyone with us loved the their Peppercorn Steak specialty. We've been there on their busiest nights and the service is always great. For those who enjoy wine, they've always got some special surprise to accent whatever you're ordering. For dessert, don't miss their carrot cake. This one might make you think about having dessert first!"

"I was impressed with the atmosphere. The only thing better would be privacy. The tables in our area was open. There were other more-private seats. I was impressed with the wine cart brought out. Being able to sample some really fine wine was awesome! We splurge and had some of the best with dinner. The steak....I'll have to admit, the BEST I have ever had! It was so tender, I had to try to do it and..i cut it with a fork! The flavor was awesome! Our server was good, but not outstanding. You could tell he was stressing about juggling everyone else. Grant it, the noise level probably had to do with others having wine, but there were a few times I couldn't hear my fiance across the table. So, overall Great Event!"

"My fiancé and I went to Porter's for a date night. The ambience was nice and cozy. The food was fabulous! We started with a bottle of Moscato Asti, it was delicious! With bread 3 types of butter was served. The pimento butter was amazing! I could not stop eating bread and butter! I ordered the scallops. What a culinary treat! They were nice and big and the white wine butter sauce was divine! My only complaint was that I did not have enough room in my stomach to try dessert!"

"I've been to Porters several times but it had been a while since my last visit. Food would have been wonderful but it was served cold--like it sat too long after it was cooked. The sautéed mushrooms were really salty and had a texture of maybe being leftovers from the previous evening. Never had a bad experience at this restaurant before and hopefully it won't happen again. Pretty pricey to have food served cold."

"One order was cooked to perfection while the other order was completely botched. His steak was cooked as asked, medium. Mine however was cooked so hard I almost choked on it. I asked mine to be cooked medium well, and it was cooked over-well. My broccoli was cold as well. Not what I would have expected from a place like Porters. Given this was our first time at Porters, it was not a good first impression and we will not be going back."

"We love Porter's. We waited to dine at Porter's on the weekend after Valentine's Day to avoid the Valentine specials. The service and our waiter were excellent. We did not think the food was as exceptional as our other dining experiences. They still had Valentine specials for the weekend and we felt we might have been served tenderloins that had been pre-cooked for Thursday. My husband ordered medium rare. His steak had an au jous type sauce making it look like medium well. It was medium rare but he expected the medium rare look of a good steak. We live approximately 100 miles from Porter's so we are not able to dine there as often as we would like. We will go back without hesitation. Love Porter's but will avoid Valentine's time."

"Overall good, arrived early and had a drink at the bar after being told they would get us when table was ready (about 30 min). 45 minutes later we again approached h.ost and were asked if we were ready for our table. I guess he forgot he said he would come for us.

"Went here for dinner for Valentine's Day with my fiance. Great atmosphere, food and wine selection. The service was excellent and the manager was actually out working as the host and walking around checking to see how patrons' dinners were. It is a little pricey but I highly recommend it for a special occasion."

"Some kitchen problems because it was Valentine's day and the chefs are stressed. i.e. my wife did not want a potato but got one and I wanted a twice baked potato and got a baked one. Our waitress offered to correct this but we told her it was fine. The service was exemplary. My wife and I always enjoy dining at Porters for special occasions."

"Great restaurant, but I thought the service was lacking. My wife and I ordered our steaks prepared medium-well, and the waitress made a point to explain to us what " medium well" meant, which we thought was condescending. Also the restaurant brought us a wedge salad that was unedible. After my wife brought this to the waitress' attention, the issue was resolved. I've dined here many times for business,but this was the first time I felt the wait staff needs to be educated on presentation."

"Compliments to the Chef! Our lunch was excellent, but thought there should have been more waiters/waitresses on hand, even though it was not crowded at the time we were there. Our waitress apologized for the wait. Otherwise she was very polite, pleasant and cheerful. We will be back."
