"My wife and I went to the restaurant to celebrate our first anniversary. A card was at the table and the waitress could read that it was a special occasion, but she did nothing to acknowledge it. They were out of mint for the cocktail I ordered and when I inquired about beers she didn't know what they had. She was not very attentive and even seemed a little pushy-like she was in a rush to get out of there. She asked us what we were having for dessert before we finished our entrees (or had seen a dessert menu) and brought us the check before we were done.
The food was super tasty. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. Our crab claw appetizer and Wedge salad were delicious. Food made up for the service and we're definitely returning with guests!"

"Overall it was a very good evening. The service was great as well as the food - with the exception if the gumbo (too gelatinous and not a real gumbo flavor). We made a reservation but then asked to be seated at a different table than the one reserved for us because it was out in the middle of traffic area. Excellent food but very pricey!"

"The service and food at Char Restaurant exceeded our already high expectations. The teamwork of their staff is impeccable. Our glasses never went half empty, but we never seemed to notice them being refilled. The Sin City BBQ Shrimp appetizer is the best in Jackson. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, and the options for side dishes will appeal to any diner. If you want hospitality, this is the restaurant for you! Make sure to save room for dessert."

"I LIVE IN MONROE, LA. i, ALONG WITH FRIENDS, TRAVEL TO JACKSON TO ATTEND THE MISSISSIPPI OPERA AND SYMPHANY SEVERAL TIMES EACH YEAR. PRIOR TO THIS VISIT I HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED CHAR AND HAVE CONTINUALLY RECOMMENDED TO FRIENDS. ON THIS OCCASION I ORDERED THE 16OZ RIBEYE MEDIUM RARE. WHEN IT WAS FINALLY RECEIVED, IT WAS OVER-COOKED AND SO THOUGH THAT I COULD NOT CHEW IT. AS WELL, THE STUFFED BAKED POTATOE WAS COMPLETELY COLD. I AM CONVINCED THAT IT WAS NOT A RIBEYE, BUT RATHER A STRIP WHICH I HAVE NEVER LIKED. WE WERE 30 MINUTES LATE DUE TO THE OPERA RUNNING OVER. SO, GIVEN THE LATE HOUR I DID NOT COMPLAIN. "We got into Char at 8pm on a Sunday night and were very happy for the service, food, and drinks. Jody was an excellent server--didn't rush us or hover, but new each dish in detail. Our appetizers: The best ever "no filler crabmeat" was by far the best ever, and the shrimp and grits. Our entrees were also delicious: duck breast with raspberry sauce, blackened redfish, black fish encrusted with pecans, and scallops with chipotle and cheese grits. This is an excellent restaurant!"

"The food has been outstanding every time we have dined at Char. The service has also been great on each occasion. The price is very reasonable considering the great experience you will have at Char. I would list my favorite dishes on the menu, but that would be difficult because every item I have ordered has been fantastic. I will say though, the pecan caramel butter crunch is a must for desert. Lunch at Char is also a great experience. Hands down, Char is the best restaurant in Jackson, MS. If you have not dined at Char, you must give it a try! You'll be glad you did!"

Tim was our waiter. I must say that he was on top of everything. Well, everyone was. When ever my husband or my glass was below half someone was bringing another out. Our meal was delightful! All the sauces married each other well. We have both eaten crab cakes at a number of places and Char has the best ones by far!!!!
