"Had 7 folks enjoy a 2 PM lunch here on the Saturday before mothers day. Most places are a zoo on Sunday, so the family agreed to go out Saturday. The food was fantastic, as was the service staff. Bar staff was very attentive and I could not have been happier with all aspects of the event. Since we went at 2 PM, there were very few people there & that was kind of nice. I plan to do the same thing again next year."

"Waiter not very knowledgeable about the wine list or food on the menu. The prawn appetizer was delicious. Pork chops were dry, pasta not that flavorful, and the roasted chicken was good."

"We went for the Mother's Day Brunch. Champaigne glasses stayed full and there were plenty of food options at the buffet, including prime rib, crab legs and omelets. There was a huge selection of desserts and fruits as well. The quality of the food was very good and everything was served at the right temperature. Overall a very pleasant experience."

"We went for Mother's Day brunch. There were three seatings for the special day. Even though we all had reservations, it took us 20 min to check in and five more min to be seated. Then another 15 min wait on the line to get food which was nothing special. Rolls, lettuce, pasta salad, potato salad, breakfast items, order to made egg station which clogged the line more, poached salmon, crabs and shrimps. I felt very much over paid for this all you can eat food. I don't think we will be back."

"The service was absolutely slow! The food was fresh. I had seafood linguini and all the seafood was not over cooked and tasted fresh. My husband had prime rib and it was a big piece and rare how he ordered it! For kids meal, they didnt have one of the items but I'm used to waiter telling us if something is not on the menu before letting the guest spend that time deciding. Kids ice cream was soft."

"I like Spin a Yarn and would recommend it. This is a steak house although the salmon was also really fresh and tasty - the best value on the menu. The "go to" meal is the prime rib. Huge portion, cooked properly, nice presentation, and even served warm. Plenty of quality sides come with your meal as well. Great waiter. No, it is not Ruth's Chris but it doesn't have their prices or anywhere close to it. The bar is nice, great wine by the glass selection and plenty of TVs to watch the Sharks playoff run."

"The service was good and friendly and the food was good. We ordered the ribeye steak which was tasty but it seemed as though it might have been pounded to make it appear a little bigger. The prime rib was a generous size and served just as ordered. The pasta with ragu sauce was very good."

"We missed the noontime rush and the place was almost empty. Service was excellent and my seafood linguini was very good. One lunch fish dish was slightly overcooked otherwise the food was great."

"We reserved for 3rd seating for Easter (1-3 PM). When we got there, everything was almost empty and had to wait for refills. When they finally brought the new prime rib rack, it was served cold. The dessert area looked like a storm passed by it. it was messy. the cakes were all store bought from groceries and they got the cheapest ones. The salmon & chicken & rice were good. The crab was okay. The salads were ok. There was french toast that was soaking in so much oil. eggs benedict was cooked perfectly. So for $33 a person, we would have been better off going to one of the buffet places that had more choices and better food at 1/2 the price. Our server was nice, attentive & fast."

"As usual the food was excellent. Salmon cooked to perfection and scalloped potatoes delicious. Green beans cooked tender crisp and nicely seasoned. Cheesecake was to die for. Only negative was that the waiter was rather sullen and the music from the bar was so loud that it made it difficult to hear conversations with friends dining with us."

"Had not been to Spin a Yarn in several years, and we were pleasantly surprised. Gordon Ramsey had done a Kitchen Nightmares show on the restaurant about a year ago, as business was lacking. It was excellent! The menu doesn't give a clear picture of all the food that you get. Included with your meal, you get soup or salad, your entree, and vegetables and a starch. I had the halibut and husband had the salmon. Both were huge, and perfectly prepared. Our server was Keith, and he was professional and very fun and personable. Next time we will try a meat dish, and we will be back. Prices are also very reasonable."

"We came here for my mom's birthday since we had bought the $100 gift certificate for $50 at Costco, and I had even watched the Kitchen Nightmares episode at work before going to prepare myself for what could possibly come. The place really did not disappoint.
First of all, we had an awesome waiter - Keith - funny, sarcastic, but very attentive to every table of his. He cracked jokes about our food and the portions all evening, and they just made the already festive mood of our dinner even more jolly. He just wouldn't give us his name throughout the entire meal, so we had to ask the hostess. My mom didn't stop saying how funny and adorable he was the entire time.
The atmosphere was also very classy, and there was a live jazz band playi"

"Five months ago I ate here. I wasn't too impressed at all with this place. After watching the episode of this restaurant again I decided to give this place another try. From the start I knew what I wanted - carpaccio and lamb chops. The carpaccio was delicious. The texture doesn't taste like raw beef. This appetizer adds elegance to this steakhouse. Having the carpaccio makes this place stand out from the rest of all other family-run restaurants in Fremont. The lamb chops are the best I ever had. They had a finesse presentation of the clean bones yet were displayed like pork ribs. In addition these lamb chops are huge. After this dish I was full. I can say I was very happy with my second visit at Spin a Yarn."

"OK place for neighborhood steakhouse. Food was ok. The side dishes reminded me of college food. Definitely needs improvment. On positive note, steak and house salad were good."

"Overall the restaurant looked nice. We went on a Sunday night for a 6:30pm reservation. The restaurant had a lot of seating left in the bar area as well as 2 of the separate rooms. I was disappointed that they ran out of prime rib before our 6:30 reservation. That was too early in the night I feel to run out of something. The people who ordered fish meals smelled rather fishy. My husband ordered a rib eye steak for $36 and I ordered the $13 burger. The burger was tasty defiantly different than any other burger I've tasted. Overall it was really good. My husband's steak was ordered as Medium but came more Medium rare than medium. Overall if was tender and flavorful. Rather or not we would go back again is still up for debate."

"Why is this restaurant still open? Went to dinner on Sunday at 6:30 pm, my first mistake. Two selections for dinner were not available because they were out of them. I ordered a whole crab, came cold, had no flavor, butter was cold and had no flavor, good cocktail sauce. For desert I ordered the coconut cream pie (have enjoyed in the past), it was awful, it had been sitting in rerig. for at least two days. I was flat and oily. The waiter hardly spoke to us and did not seem to care about what he served. After years of coming to Spin a Yarn, they have seen the last of me."

"I decided on Spin a Yarn because I heard it was on a restaurant maker over show. I found to place to be just okay. I really enjoyed the prior configuration and ambiance. The pricing was adequate but I expected more because It was valentine's day. The place was okay, its not a destination for me anymore."

"I was expecting more elegant and special meal on Valentine menu, but the food wasn't as good as I thought. I can make those food at home better at home home myself. The desert presentation was worse than my kids. It was just adding 3 pieces of fruit ( one blueberry, one blackberry and one raspberry). It was the cheapest desert I ever seen in a steakhouse restaurant. I don't know if I would want to go again even though I bought gift card."

"We had a reservation for 7:30 and had to wait an hour for a table... So if you plan on a party of 6 or more, this may not be an ideal place... The food was decent BUT.... Our waitress got our meat orders wrong. Medium well cooked meats were all medium rare and when asked to cook a little more, more just flipped the meat over and served it to us again. WOW!! And we wanted a specific wine bottle that was on their wine list and they didn't have it along with another bottle we asked for so we just settled and said bring us what u do have!"

"This is a steak house, like it says. Not a huge variety in the menu, but what they do, they seem to do well. The prime rib my husband had was a really great piece of meat, they carve it table-side. My seafood linguine was nice. All the food was good. The steaks are definitely better than somewhere like Outback or Texas Roadhouse....way better and slightly more expensive, but you will notice the difference. Drinks: Can't recommend their margarita....their mixed drinks menu is a little sparse. The wine list is fine, and "usual" restaurant pricing. Sweets: Only a few desserts, but good ones. The coconut creme pie and chocolate mousse are really good. We would eat here again, if we can get another good deal (50% off from Costco)."
