"We would never go back.
The food was overcooked, the wait staff was not informed about the specials/ that the kitchen did not have? on a Saturday night!
This was a special occasion with friends, and we were all disappointed with the entire experience. It was over rated and over priced."

"If your palette yearns for slivers of beef heart or a pig's head on your plate, hurry, nay rush, to Colt & Gray where your heart's desire will be fulfilled. If on the other hand your crave more traditional fare, go elsewhere for you'll not find it here. Unfortunately, even the few traditional items on the menu taste different than one expects. Some love this place. I'm not one of them!"

"Colt & Gray has been on our list for a while and it did not disappoint! I recommend going with people that like to share as we ordered a little of everything and shared. You must try selections from the daily charcuterie as they are all made in house and incredible. They change every night so if they are offering the lomo with spices and garlic (I forget the actual name)- try it! Also, the fried oysters and blue cheese dusted gougeres were perfect starters. We also enjoyed the asparagus salad which comes with a crispy poached egg- think medium poached egg coated in panko and fried- yum! The Rabbit and Dumplings are a must. So flavorful, it tasted like it was simmering all day. Overall, wonderful experience."

"The charcuterie plate was 25 for small portions of 4 meats and two cheeses. The crab entrée was tasteless. No manager visited when the item was returned. The wine pours came in a glass without a carafe. When questioned, the server said the pour was six ounces. He said he'd return with more wine and never did. Portion size of entrees were small. The fish had no starch on the plate. The fish was overcooked, we did not have time to stay for a replacement. No comment or offer of service adjustment was made when we informed the server that the soup was tasteless and we didn't enjoy it. Not a restaurant for picky eaters as it has fois gras, bone marrow, and non traditional proteins."

"The interior ambience is warm and inviting. The waiters were appropriately attentive and the food was not even mediocre. We ordered three starters - two cheese (miniscule amounts) and a potted pork starter that was completely tasteless and not shredded as posted. We ordered one salad and it was ok. We ordered three entrees including one that was goat tenderloin and goat sausage. The sausage was good and flavorful. The goat lion was so tough that it was truly inedible. I demostrated to the waiter that it was impossible to cut through it even with a serrated steak knife. One of the other women chewed on a bite so long she finally had to spit it into her napkin. The remainder of the loin was untouched."

"After waiting 30 minutes AFTER our reservation time, they sat us in the table next to the kitchen. This was totally unacceptable and ruined the entire evening. I may try to go again however judging from what others have said, this restaurant will need to change drastically before I do..."

"Fantastic food and service and creative drink menu. Everything was seasoned and prepared perfectly. We had an awesome time.

Kid info: We brought a 2 year old - we fed her appetizers, soup as well as off our plates - kids eat adult food here. The close seating arrangements, had diners around us worried that we had ruined their night. Ours was mellow thanks to the ipad but if you have more energetic or impatient kids or picky eaters you should probably go elsewhere for dinner."

"Kevin is my #2 bartender of all time. Though I find his classic cocktails to lack the perfection and refinement that most of my other favorite bartenders execute, his signature cocktails are in a league of their own. He is the best, true mixologist with whom I've ever had the privilege of indulging.

The food is truly outstanding, too. Charcuterie—perfect preface to the most amazing kale salad I've ever tasted—lightly dressed in the most perfectly balanced vinaigrette. Main courses: stuffed quail—lightly smoked and brilliantly paired with a warm fennel salad. Cioppino—fresh seafood, plenty of bread for soppin' the mildly spicy broth, delicious, but the low-light of the evening. Dessert—sticky toffee pudding. Need I say more?"

"This is a lovely restaurant. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary at the establishment and the server went above & beyond to make it a special occassion for us. Most of the food was excellent, however, the Goat T-bone was very chewy and not what we expected. The homemade sausages and charcuterie were exceptional."

"We had a very enjoyable experience at Colt and Grey! We started out with a number of meats, cheeses, and small plates. Each of these was unique and delicious. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable with the wine list. We had a challenge with our main course, we had both ordered the Ribeye, however one of the steaks was incredibly tough. As soon as this was brought to our servers attention he was very attentive, and even had the chef attempt to slice the meat in order to make it less tough but to no avail. We didn't have to request that it be removed from the bill, our server took care of that. Even though we had a small problem the attentiveness to service made for an excellent experience."

"Overall, the menu offerings and quality of the food are certainly NOT worth what you pay. Menu options were limited & did nothing to get our mouths watering and feeling excited about the upcoming meal. The daily special, pork done 3 ways, was bland, dry, & unimaginative. The seating was tight, atmoshphere loud, and service acceptable. Our dining experience here was such a disappointment since we were very excited to finally make reservations. We have no interest in returning and would not recommend a visit to this restaurant to anyone."

"I have been here several times, and I guess my overall impression has just gotten pretty low. They need to pay a bit more attention to upkeep and service -- we sat for about 5 minutes before being asked for a drink order and had to request from the over-busy waiter to get dessert menus and then also had to ask twice for the check. The food isn't as amazing as it used to be either. Maybe the Denver restaurant scene is just much better than it was 3 years ago so it pales in comparison..."

"The ambience and decor was beautiful,cozy but classy. The tables, however, were so tightly packed into the space, that you literally only had enough space to slide through sideways between the tables. The person(s) sitting at the next table can hear EVERY BIT of your conversation, even join it. We were sitting next to a couple that complained about every single item that they ordered. My meal was very good, but my husband ordered the goat, which was very tough to eat. The sausage that came with the meal was in a very unappetizing shape. The server did not introduce the specials that we overheard being presented to other tables after we ordered. For the price, go somewhere else with better food and better service."

"The food at lunch/brunch on Easter was very good, but the service was horrible. The two of us ordered ice tea to drink and it was dark brown, like coffee, and very bitter. We told our server about the teas when we saw him after our food was delivered and he took the drinks that were still full away. He then disappeared for the rest of the meal and we had to signal him and ask him for a dessert menu. He did not comp the teas ($5.00) and didn't say he'd check it out and get us another drink or see if there was something the matter with the tea. Too bad that the service was so poor because the food was good. The restaurant was busy, but not in a way that justified a server disappearing thru most of a meal."

"Once again, wowed by the cocktails of Kevin Burke. He whips up the perfect concoction every time. Meal was great, our table had the charcuterie (definitely try the beef tongue pastrami), quail, half chicken (perfectly crisped skin), goat (a little tough, but it IS goat, after all), and sea bass. Portions are small, as can be expected from these types of restaurants. The piece de resistance is still the desserts...potted cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Hope they never take these off the menu.

Only problem was having to wait about 25 minutes for our reserved table (not their fault, the folks before us wouldn't get up, but still...a free app would have been nice) and then having to wait again before leaving to get our coats."

"The most eclectic menu I've ever seen where I didn't need to sell a leg to pay for it. Perfectly prepared and delivered. Service was friendly, helpful and there.
The ambiance was clean and rustic and a bit crowded and loud. It was a very full night and the addition they are building may improve that.

"If you like to try unique foods or simply like a savory spin on a meaty dish, this is the place to go! From bone marrow, to duck prosciutto to beef tongue, pork belly or a tasty cut of steak, this food does not disappoint! Also, the cocktail menu is creative and delicious! Our waiter was excellent at describing each item on the menu as well as which cocktails would suit our palates. He was friendly and perfectly energetic. The restaurant was small, but didn't feel cramped and had a fresh, calm ambiance. It was a great first time experience there. We will be back again..."

"I took my son for his last hurrah before he flew back East for school. We had a wonderful experience. The food was incredible especially the Foie Gras. Chocolate bread pudding was also great! We would definitely recommend the restaurant!!"

"This experience lived up to all the hype and expectation. A truly superb evening from cocktails at the bar beforehand all the way through dessert. Bartenders did a Wonderful job pairing wines for us with our courses, and took our taste preferences into account. My quail was the best I've ever experienced. Desserts (sticky toffee cake as well as cheesecake in a pot) were spot on. There was only one downside to the evening: The waiter brought out the wrong small bites plate for us, he had misheard me. He corrected his error but I was truly annoyed to see that he charged us for both on the receipt. We had experienced such an amazing evening that it wasn't worth getting into a tiff over, but still not a classy move on the waiters part."

"I thought it was too small and the amount of food for the price was ridiculous. Also the cost of the drinks for the size was outrageous. Service was slow and not attentive and there was not even that many people in the restaurant."

"Colt and Gray has a fun, speakeasy type of feel. Tongue in cheek drinks named for Zoolander served by a barkeep in a bowtie and vest are illustrative of the spot which has serious food, but doesn't take itself too seriously. Highly recommend the pork special - since it changes from day to day, you're ensuring fresh cuts and creativity. The charcuterie plate is amazing as is the marrow. You really can't go wrong."

"We visisted Colt and Gray last year during the 5280 offering. We were so pleased, we wanted to return this year. We were so disappointed. Food was average, not that good. Portions very small and not a good selection. Realize this is a promotion, but it was last year also. What a difference a year makes. Service adequate. Always noisey, but we expected that."
