"This is the best sushi in town. We have been several times and never experienced an "off" night with either the food or service. I like plain ole sushi and my husband likes to try all the other dishes, everything is fantastic. Highly recommend!!"

"We were recommended this restaurant and the only thing we thought was nice was the entrance and the view. We were told they had a full bar but then couldn't make a martini. The miso soup was just ok and the sushi selection was very much limited compared to some sushi restaurants in Dallas. I was disappointed not to have some of the standards, such as Philadelphia or Cajun rolls. The waiter didn't talk much and we felt talked down to when we asked to order rolls instead of off the menu."

"The food is excellent. Loved the Arctic Char nigiri! Some of the best unagi I've ever had and eaten sushi in may parts of the non-Asian world. The spicy tuna roll is spicy but great. The ambiance is pleasant, the wait staff is solid but not as knowledgeable as I had hoped, and just a tad inattentive. That being said, the staff is very nice, which was much appreciated. Looking forward to going back soon."

"We did the 10 course tasting menus for my husband's birthday, and the experience was wonderful. Each course was both a work of art and a taste treat. The authenticity of the Japanese cuisine was attested to by the number of native Japanese diners we saw. We will definitely go back--it was the best sushi we've ever had and the black tempura was the only softshell crab dish that my husband has ever liked. As a said--fabulous."

"We decided to start with the conch which had grit in it aside from that tasty. For main course we shared the chef's choice sushi box- 12 pieces plus a tuna roll for fifty five bucks. It was good sushi grade but I'm not sure I would say worth that price. It was god and better than any of the other sushi I've had in the city but we still left a little hungry."

"let me first disclaim that i've not been to makoto. but with that said, sushi taro is the best japanese restaurant i've had in DC. tried both the sushi course and the kaiseki course, and every item was perfectly prepared and on point. great examples of traditional preparations. also want to mention that our server, Orgi, is one of the most attentive service staff i've encountered... enough that i needed to ask for her name and will be requesting for her from now."

"The food here is amazing, but it is VERY expensive for a teeny tiny amount of food. I'm used to paying a lot for good food in DC but this left me feeling a little taken advantage of.
The service was so awful. We waited for 20 minutes at our table with ZERO attention until I finally got up and found someone. This should not be that kind of place. Our waitress was crazy annoyed at us all night, like she was bothered that she had to wait on us. She did, however, accommodate a special request, so 2 stars."

"If you want sushi, go somewhere else. Granted the fish is all good, but they are really trying to make Sushi Taro an upscale experience with a standard quality. menu names are confusing (Only way I knew there was a sushi platter was because the cartoon drawn next to it). I've had sushi all over the DMV and used to frequent Taro before the remodel. If you're going to charge above average prices, deliver on the experience. Its like dressing up a burrito in a 26 dollar price tag, it's still a burrito. There was no creative reimagining or something you couldn't get elsewhere for a better price. Additionally no Sapporo, which is just a crime because Kirin is Coors with better graphics. I'd go for Momiji, equal quality better pric"

"My experience at Sushi Taro was wonderful! My party and I did the 10 course tasting menu with the sake pairing. Each dish was perfectly prepared and serve with wonderful sake. Our service was beautiful. We always had what we wanted at the table and if we ordered something else it came right away and was quietly served. Our server was knowledgable about all the dishes and sake we were ate. We were seated right next to the window which made for a beautiful sun set and people watching. I would recommend this to all who love new food experience and are not afraid to spend money. Every penny spent was worth it.

Sushi Taro is a high-quality Japanese dining experience Iike the special occasion restaurants found in the Ginza on Tokyo. This is not a knock-off Japanese restaurant run by non-Japanese people. Expect high quality ingredients, attention to details, efficient, and unobtrusive service, and to leave feeling completely satisfied and that the money you spend has been well spent. This is a place to impress people who know and love Japanese food. "I think the place could use some better signage, I walked by it twice without seeing it. The decor is nice, comforting, well-lit.
They had 4 different menus, 3 for food and one for drink. They don't have Sapporro, which I thought was odd. The Saki was good.
I had to ask the waitress a few times what the menus meant, as it doesnt list portion sizes. I typically order a sashimi combo, but there is a $50 minumum for that. I ordered a sashimi fatty tuna and a couple sushi rolls. The sashmi was great, although $30 for 6 pieces is too $. The sushi rolls, I thought, were aweful. Felt too squishy, not enough fish, I've had much better at less $. My waitress never checked up on me. My drink ran out half way through. I will not return here for sush"

"The grilled black cod marinated in Miso is one of the best, sweetest and most tender pieces of fish I have ever had. The sashimi was all solid, and the sushi delicious. The green tea ice cream was stronger than most green tea ice creams, but still good. The beverage pairing was a little weak, but this was also restaurant week.
Also, tremendous service."
