Boca Chica Restaurant
Boca Chica Mexican Restaurant has served the flavorful, authentic cuisine of Mexico since 1964. It was then that Guillermo and Gloria Frias opened the doors to their new restaurant that seated only 28 patrons. Today, Boca Chica has grown substantially and is rated "one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Twin Cities," according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine’s March 2009 issue.
The authenticity of the food is maintained by making everything from scratch, the old-fashioned way, with fresh ingredients. Even the fiery salsa is still made with fresh tomatoes, chiles, and that special Frias family touch. Our menu includes some of the more traditional foods such as guisados, sopes, carne asada, chile rellenos, and tamales. Taste is never compromised. We also have a full bar featuring the city’s best selection of Mexican beers and premium tequilas. Voted "Best Margarita" by City Pages.

"I have yet to find better prepared shrimp in the Twin Cities than in the Platillo Aculpulco (build your own shrimp tacos). You get LOTS of big, plump shrimp, cooked to perfection on a fajita iron with onions and peppers, and that preparation gives them SOOOO much flavor! You also get tortillas, rice, beans, fresh guac, along with the endless chips and salsa, and it's a total FEAST! I can never order anything different than this beauty of a dish, because I know I would just be disappointed with anything less. :)
Our server was also PHENOMENALLY attentive as our group ordered app's, had a leisurely dinner, and sat around and chatted afterwards...she was still filling waters and checking in all throughout. Well done, once again, Boca Chica!"

"They charged 18% gratuity on only 4 in our group, even though the menu said for parties of 8 or more. Waiter said because it was a holiday and they were allowed. Also, 2 kid meals ordered and drink was supposed to come with each meal and again drinks were charged and we were told because it was cinco de mayo they charged extra for kids drinks. The food was terrible. Sent back cheese sauce. Service was horrible too. We will never visit this restaurant again."

"I used to live in the neighborhood, and loved coming here, so particularly enjoy coming back and finding that it is as good as ever. "My husband comes to this restuarant frequently for lunch but dinner was my first time. Everything was delicious! I love Mexican food and this place is authentic. I had the "pick two" with a crisp taco and chicken enchillada. I am not usually a fan of ground beef but the meat in the taco was seasoned so well - super tasty! The chicken enchillada was fantastic too.
My husband says the lunch buffet is amazing and I'm just waiting for a chance to sneak over to St. Paul to try it!"
