"We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary at the Charleston Grill. Wonderful service, great food, and it was great to listen to live music. Once the staff new it was our anniversary they made sure we celebrated in style. Highly recommend!"

"It's tough in Charleston with new restaurants opening every week to get back to some of the venerable favorites. Until about a year ago we had not been to Charleston Grill in 10+ years. We kept threatening to but some new place kept trumping our plans.
Well it was phenomenal a year ago and it was just as good this time.
It is expensive, but it's worth it. The pimento cheese grits are awesome. Butter poached lobster, gnocchi, truffles, morels..."

"This is a great spot for either a dinner with a spouse or significant other for a special occasion (it was my wife's birthday) or for meeting up with another couple. The food and service were fantastic and the jazz band playing off in the background simply added to the great ambiance. A little dressier than the other spots in town we visited but well worth it!"

"What service! Totally deserving all all accolades received. The Grill uses a team approach very effectively to provide exemplary service. "We went here for our anniversary. The restaurant was lovely and the service could not be better. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. They made our dining experience exceptional. The food, however, was a bit of a miss. While the quality was very good, the chef tended towards intense sauces that overpowered the favors of the main ingredient. For instance, for my appetizer, I ordered the tuna carpaccio. The sauce that accompanied this dish was heavy heavy heavy on the so, so the flavor of the tuna was overwhelmed. The same thing happened with my husband's duck (perhaps lacquered should have warned us). My tenderloin 's Pinot reduction sauce too was so intense it was more like a jam. Save the $300 and go somewhere else,"

"The Charleston Grill, with its dark wood paneling and live jazz quartet, exudes warmth. The food is creative and delicious. But it's the service that really sets the Charleston Grill on an elite level. My wife and I were visiting from LA and we experienced the meaning of southern hospitality. Our servers were two knowledgeable and friendly young ladies who made us feel very at home, but it was General Manager, Mickey Bakst, who made the evening unforgettable. He took us under his wing, guiding us through the imaginative menu, pairing wines with each course and stopping by our table as each dish was delivered to make sure we were happy. Over dessert he sat and chatted with us. Thanks, Mickey. It was a truly magical evening."

"The CG was our third "top 10 restaurants" dinner in 4 days. Bottom line- start with the best and you can forgo the rest. We started with a warm greeting, by name, from the hostesses and GM Mickey when we arrived. Our server Nicole was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable about the dishes and helpful with recommendations. The service was outstanding, not rushed, and seamless in anticipating our next need. The soup and quail (fall off the bone succulent) were phenomenal appetizers and the entrees (duck and tenderloin) were cooked to perfection. The lemon meringue baked alaska was a great combination of flavors. The live jazz music was definitely not too loud and provided the perfect back drop to a wonderful meal."

The menu is divided into 4 categories (slightly pretentious, and unnecessary in my opinion, as all menu items blends well together, and you are told that you can choose from any category). The food is excellently prepared. I especially enjoyed the pear salad, and the duck breast in hosion sauce.

"My husband and best friend and I had a wonderful experience here while visiting Charleston. The live jazz music was wonderful, our cocktails were original and tasty, everyone was very friendly and our service was impeccable. The food was melt in your mouth delicious and we were completely sated on every level by the time we left. "My wife and I were staying at the Charleston Place for a long weekend and we read some reviews of this restaurant and decided to make a reservation. We were greeted with such class at the hostess stand. We were seated right in front of the Jazz band playing and it was not too loud so still very enjoyable. The nice part about the menu is that there is something for everyone on this menu. The presentation was beautiful and the balance of flavors were perfect. I have eaten at 4 and 5 starter restaurants around the world and this one ranks right up there. Everyone that came to the table greeted us Mr. & Mrs. our last name. It was a nice touch and there was even a Anniversary surprise at the end our meal for desert."

"This is a very classy and upscale restaurant that missed the mark on both of our entrees. The hoisin sauce on my duck was just way too sweet and made it almost inedible, and my wife's fish, shrimp and grits was quite underwhelming. The appetizers, sides, and desert were all quite nice however. We probably caught the kitchen on a bad night though for this class of restaurant there should not be many bad nights."

"My husband took me there for my birthday. Romantic little place with a jazz ensemble. Food was very good. I had the crabcake and cheese grits. Husband had the lamb chops. Service was fantastic. Extensive wine list and server even allowed a half glass when I didn't want another whole. Enjoyed every bite!"

"In a town known for food and great dining venues....this one is a homerun! I guess that is why they have a 4 star dining award. The food which is the heart of every dining experience was incredible and the service was just as outstanding as you would hope and expect. This is a "do not miss, must experience" dinner. If you love quality, flavor, service, presentation and an outstanding dining experience, you should have made your reservation 10 minutes ago!"

"My husband and I went to the Charleston Grill for our anniversary. I had the pear salad and the flounder with shrimp and grits. My husband had the potato soup and tenderloin. We shared a side order of cauliflower. Everything was prepared to absolute perfection. My flounder was slightly crispy at the edges and perfectly cooked, served with 3 nicely seasoned shrimp on top of a delicious bed of grits - yum! My husband's tenderloin was amazingly tender and very flavorful. The cauliflower was delicious - even according to my husband who isn't a cauliflower fan. They have a nice wine list including a good variety of upper end wines in the half bottle sizes. The ambiance was just right for our romantic dinner and we really enjoyed ourselves."

"I made a note when i booked the reservation that it was our anniversary. We were greeted and congratulated that it was our anniversary, a card on the table for our anniversary, and the servers all congratulated us as well. The service was impeccable, Charleston Grill is the epitome of FINE dining. The attention to detail and courtesy even as you walk through the restaurant is phenomenal. After an excellent meal, complimentary candies were provided with a chocolate "Happy Anniversary as well". A truly wonderful experience that will keep us coming back."

"We really really enjoyed our experience at the Charleston Grill. We trekked there from our rental in Mt. Pleasant and it was WELL worth it. The chef's palate teaser was wonderful and all the food we ordered was extraordinary. Love the way the menu was layed out with 3 different categories to give you and idea of what goes with what. My husband was worried he'd have to eat everything from one section but we were pleased that you could pick and choose from the 3 different sections. The service was impeccable and our waiter helped us find a few other dining options for our stay that week. The bartender was also fantastic for our pre-dinner cocktails. Both were attentive and extremely helpful."

"We live in Charleston but had never eaten at Charleston Grill. We enjoy going to fine dinning restaurants. We called Charleston Place and asked about attire and a young girl told us "black tie"! "OMG!", I said, "we need to cancel our reservations, we are not prepared for black tie". The young girl transferred me to the restaurant. The restaurant desk pleaded with me not to cancel and said it was not black tie. The recommended gentlemen attire is at least a jacket but a tie is not required. She said some people will show up in jeans (not appropriate to me). So we went in our nice slacks, scarfs, dresses and sports jacket. We were dressed fine and was told so by hostess. So glad we went! Thanks Charleston Grill for a great dinner!"

"We stayed at the Charleston Place Hotel on our wedding night, so we thought dining at the Charleston Grill on our 1st anniversary would be the perfect idea - and it was. They gave us a very nice, intimate corner table overlooking the courtyard, and they also placed a greeting card wishing us a happy anniversary on our table, which we thought was such a thoughtful touch. The food was as delicious as we had expected, and the service was top-notch. To top it all off, when it came time for dessert, they sent out a petit fours plate that had a "Happy Anniversary" sign made out of chocolate. It was the perfect ending to what had already been a very special evening. We are sure to be returning for other special occasions in the future."

"My visit to Charleston Grill was to celebrate a suprise engagement and the food and service was spectacular. The food was top notch, and the service surpassed all expectations! There were even a congratulations card and a tray of complimentary gourmet sweets for dessert. We were seated in a special little nook with lots of privacy.
