"Best kebabs in forever, not dry or overcooked. The cold appetizer sampler plate has some wonderful items on it and all are good. Everything we tried was very good and we will definitely go back. The staff was fabulous, particularly with the three year old at our table. She was thrilled to be invited to carry the check to the register and bring it back to our table. Other personal touches during and after the meal were enough to convince us we need to become regulars at this wonderful little eatery."

"I was delightfully surprised how good the food and service were at Galata during a recent lunch. The chicken kabob has a delicious flavor and the ability to swap a regular salad for a Greek salad for $1.00 is a nice upgrade. The french fries were hot and as tasty as any of have eaten in the past.
The service was very good as the manager, bus person, and waitress each stopped by our table to make sure everything was to our liking. Galata is an excellent choice for a very affordable and enjoyable lunch or dinner."

"This may be the best of the Turkish restaurants on the mid-Peninsula. Knowledgeable staff, great food, beautiful service. A little noisy in the restaurant when there's a full house. Great rice pudding! Good Turkish wine by the glass."

"A good restaurant to add to the list. Tasty with very good service and very reasonably priced. I wouldn't go there for a special occasion, but I would go again when looking for a Mediterranean meal on a regular night out for dinner."

The food was excellent! The baklava fabulous and I dont even like baklava!!

"The food was very good quality overall & the ambiance was warm & inviting....I liked the chicken shish kebob I had, but my husband thought his beef ones were a little tough. Very nice & unusual desert with phyllo & cheese. The service was friendly, but a little haphazard (couldn't find Open Table res, misorders, water glasses empty, etc). Overall very enjoyable, will go back!"

"What started out as a potential disaster ended beautifully. We arrived on time for our 7pm reservation on a Friday night. After 15 minutes, Ibraham (sp?), who might be an owner or manager, recognized that we had been waiting and told us "you shouldn't have to wait that long." He apologized and said he would "take care of us." He comp'd our party of four a glass of wine each while we waited. After 30 minutes we were seated. Ibraham served us personnally and was attentive and brought us a complimentary appetizer. He then brought us a complimentary bottle of wine, which was delicious (and not cheap). He more than made up for the rough start. The food held its own; we all loved our entrees. I was impressed by the awesome customer service."

"The Galata Special is a great deal - three cold appetizers (hummus, ezme, baba ghanoush, etc.) and kebab combo for two. While the service is slow, the people are very nice and want to make sure you are truly enjoying your meal. Reservations recommended since it gets quite busy! Worth a visit for a solid meal."

"This restaurant has moved into the former Ristorante Mataro's locaation. The decor has a nice, welcoming feel. It has a extensive selection of Mediterranean fare. We each ordered kebabs, one chicken, one rib eye. Each entree came with rice, hummus, kebabs and a small salad. The plate was nicely presented, the hummus, creamy and flavorful, the meats well seasoned and tender. I looked around at what the other diner's had and the lamb shank looked delicious, perhaps next time. I cannot speak to the dessert menu as it was never offered to us, we were just presented with the check. The time from food order to table was a bit long, but worth the wait. I saw a lot of take out orders being picked up. I will definitely return."

"I/we have gone back 3 times since our first visit just a few weeks ago. The food is outstanding with generous (but not overally so) servings and the menu is varied enough that frequent visits are never disappointing. The owner is very friendly and acccommodating. The service is getting better as the staff is learning the new menu and how to deal with slightly larger numbers as the word gets out. The decor is a bit too casual for me but I am certain that will improve in the short run.
I highly recommend it and each time I have heard back from others acting on my recommendation they have been very pleased.
It is a little gem.

"This recently changed from Italian to a Mediterranean Grill. Same owners. New chef. My wife and I have been there three times in the past few weeks. This is a tasty, friendly, quiet neighborhood place that is reasonably priced. The wine pricing is friendly too."
