"To me, the demeanor of the wait staff are the difference between a good dining experience and an excellent one. I want to single out Kristen, with her smiles and attention to detail, made our dining experience a memorable one. The auxillary waiters were great as well. This was our first experience at LJ's and it won't be our last."

"probably better suited for visiting the lounge at this point. Dining in the main dining room was lenghty and we felt more attention was given to customers in the bar area. we had not been back to the restaurant in quite a while and must say the four of us in our dinner party agreed we will not rush back."

"Who would have thought Hagerstown, MD would have a restasurant of this caliber. Definitely not a place you would accidently stubmble onto as it is hidden away on a side street. Wait staff was extremely well trained and attentive. The open kitchen gives you a view of what really happens when your order is placed. The scallops were prepared to perfection. My wife had the special, a veal chop medium rare. She says it was one of the best meals she has had in quite some time. Another "back to.""

"We were looking for a new place to eat and actually found the restaurant on line. What a GREAT experience. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was unique and different from all of the "glorified fast food restaurants". Pricing was perfect too. We will definately be back and refer the restaurant to our friends. Only negative comments that I do have is that at times it seemed a little loud."

"First time here. Up scale menu. Creative dishes. Nice presentation. Professional servers. Good selection of moderately prices wines. I eat in DC, Baltimore, North Jersey and NYC frequently. Nice to find this gem in an unassuming spot like Hagerstown. I thought it was pricy for the area, but it was very busy. So apparently price is not an issue. Highly recommend the Cold Smoked NY Strip Steak. Very inventive. Will definitely be back!"

"The reviews raved about the food, but i found the food fairly dull. If I'm paying for an expensive meal, I expect it to be something I cannot make myself. The salad was literally lettuce with citrus dressing, nothing else, no tomatoes, nothing notable. The tuna appetizer had slices of cucumber, and carrot, and literally "shavings" of tuna. You would get more tuna as a topping on a sushi roll. The scallop entree was well-cooked enough of the sauce to be well-seasoned. Overall not worth the amount spent, and I certainly did not order dessert. When I asked the waiter "do you have anything you would recommend?" his response was "not really", and it was very accurate."

"We have been going to LJ's & The Kat Lounge regularly, at least once a month, since discovering it last year. The seasonal menu has impressed us through 3 seasons now, every dining experince has been very pleasent surprise. Hats off to the staff for such creative flavor combinations.
While the food is ALWAYS excellent, its the consistency of the service staff that is even more impressive. Everyone is always attentive, responsive, at the ready without being intrusive. Always smiling, always polite, always aware of what is being prepared by the kitchen, and has NEVER made a recommendation I can find fault with."

"Could not have asked for better food or service. NY Strip, Brussels Sprouts for me, Filet and Truffle Scalloped Potato for her. Cheese fondue with soft pretzel and granny smiths for appetizer and split a banana, dark choc. bread pudding for dessert. One of the best steaks I have ever had out, worth the trip; best food in Washington Co. MD. Server Nicki was dynamite, on top of everything and spot on with recommendations on food and cocktails."

"The wine list is interesting. It comes in a sub-divided recipe box. Big selection! The house salad dressing is too lemony. Ask for a taste of it on the side. The filet mignon was good perfectly (MR for me and MW for the hubby)."

"We had the Valentine's Day tasting menu which we had some items we've never tried. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Their staff are very professional and eager to serve. The owner prepared my Cherries Jubilee table side, which was great. My wife and I have been here about a dozen times (dining room)since they opened, they always deliver more than expected. We frequent their lounge a couple times a month, in addition to specials you can order from the dining room menu. Try it, you wont be disappointed."

"All around great meal!! Great service!! The bar was crowded ("burger night") so there was no before or after bar action regrettably, but as long as they are making enough money to stay open I can deal with that...it is hard to fund a place like that in an area like this and I am glad there are able to."

"We arrived at 6PM (on time) and there was no one to greet us. This was our first visit to LJ's and we had no idea where to go. We waited a few minutes and finally someone showed up. Our coats were taken and then another wait to get them hung up. Overall, it was not an auspicious start. We were finally let in through a curtan to the dining area and seated at our table. The wait staff took over and they were excellent. We can't say enough about the service. The menu was excellent and we had a hard time choosing our meals, because everything looked delicious. Our waiter was very helpful in this regard. The food we chose was excellent but it was not presented well on the plates. This was a major complaint for us. The dining area was quite noisy"
