"Zins is the perfect place to dine before attending events in downtown Cedar Rapids. Being able to place a reservation on line is greatly appreciated. The ambience is wonderful and the service is always top notch. Brunch is incredible and very kid-friendly, we loved the pancakes, muffins and the eggs benedict is incedible. I highly recommend the bibb lettuce salad which is delicious and just the right proportion. The blade steak is very tastey, tender and beautifully presented. All the desserts we have ordered have been fabulous. I have dined at Zins many times and it is very affordable, the food is served in a timely manner and it is always a wonderful experience."

"It was such a great night! Emily was our awesome server for our party of nine! Each course kept getting better and better! Loved the Mac and Cheese and the Duck Pot Pie. Definitely recommend Zin's if you are in the area! Loved it!"

"We dined here recently during a trip to Cedar Rapids. I had done some research on where to eat and we weren't disappointed. We all (three of us) all ordered several different small plates and followed it up with desserts. Everything was good and moderate in the price department."

"On the good side:
-The food was VERY good.
-The atmosphere really lends itself well to conversation, which was very enjoyable.
On the not so good side:
-Our server had a large tongue bar which was unpleasant to constantly see; left us unattend for extended periods of time. -Waited 18 minutes for her to get a beer (timed it).
-Steak ordered split plate, brought out cool, overcooked, and on a single plate....mgr took it off our bill.
-Forgot my final plate; pointed it out, she checked her list and had it crossed off. Brought the plate and the bill togeher, so I got to eat my last plate while the rest of the family watched...and yes, it was also cold (skirt steak)"

"This is the second time I have picked a new restaurant based solely on reviews from TripAdvisor. As before, I was impressed. The service was superb and attentive. The food savory and made with care. As the servings are small, Tapas style, you have a lot of control over the size of your meal and a good bit of variety. Both the steak and the burger were exceptional. The building is located in downtown Cedar Rapids just off of I-380 and the 1st St. exit. As such, I found that i had to do a bit of hunting for a parking space even after 6 PM."

"Went with older kids for a Mother's Day get together. The menu was interesting and all items were ala carte. Food was ok....not the best that I have had. The place itself was very nice and the atmosphere made up for the lack of spectacular food. Service was excellent! Would likely go for another special occasion but probably not just for an average night out."

"We thought the brisket was a little tough. We're from Texas and we cook brisket for five hours so it just falls apart, no knife needed. That's what we expect. So, sort of disappointed with the main entree of the pre-show menu. Loved the scallop,choc bread pudding though. Salad was a little difficult to eat. The lettuce was so small it was hard to get on a fork. I think you could cut it differently. Great atmosphere though."

"We had a very good experience all around. I noted on my online reservation that it was our anniversary, and our waiter presented my wife with a rose - that was a great touch. The chef came to our table to talk about vegetarian fare and we had a very nice conversation. Well done, team."

"was nice at the door the valet and are table server but during second course wer kept getting different servers and courses came slow and by the time we wanted to order the fourth and dessert we all ready waited 15 minutes and the windows had no blinds so my husband sat in the sun the whole one and half hour we were in there, wont go back even on way out never asked how my dinner went he said have a good night and that was my first time there."

"The food tasted good, but there was not much of it so we ordered dessert. The dessert took almost an hour to get to our table. Our team lunch took over 2 hours due to the slow service. If we were not seated by the kitchen so we could watch the chefs, it would have been a far less partially enjoyable experience for us."

"I had a delightful dinner with two wonderful friends after a Saturday matinee show at the Paramount down the street. We were all in from out of town and went to Zin's because it was recommended by local family/friends. The three of us shared five tapas which offered a nice variety of taste testing without overeating. The mac and cheese was my personal favorite and the table bread was amazing! Carb-a-licious! We also had some greens! They were offering a chef special for $50 per person which all sounded like wonderful options and will be the reason I will stop back the next time I am in town. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable! I would call the atmosphere sophisticated comfort."

"This was my first visit to Zin's. A friend had made the recommendation. We were a group of five and we were all very pleasantly surprised. The food was unique and had a lovely presentation. "Was expecting a bit more. Pros: small portions encourage ordering several items. Cons: Sweet Potato Gnocchi was on the greasy side, wine was expensive, Arugula Flat Bread could have been warmer to bring out the flavors - it was more like a cold open face sandwich. Be sure to check out the Shroud of Zin framed on wall. It is an impressive remnant from the flood of 2008. Maybe not completely favorable, but I would give them another try."

I'm sorry to say that on this latest visit for dinner, the service was a bit haphazard eventhough the restaurant was not at all busy. Our requested bottle of wine was not chilled so we had to wait for it to be chilled and other parts of the meal service did not flow well. I know that they can do better."

"Slow service. Again. Some food dishes were cold which meant they had been sitting waiting. Even with reservation for four, our lunch was just over 2 hours from start to finish. Thank goodness three of the four attendees did not work this day. We have learned now from several visits over a lunch hour that we cannot afford to spend this kind of time for lunch here."

"I've been to Zins since 2009 many times. Focaccia, salads, scallops, crab cakes, lamb chops, pot pie crust and filling were fabulous. Wine and desserts are a must. Great wait staff are knowledgeable and attentive - like Chef's Table was in Iowa City.
They are starting to offer more vegetarian, hopefully vegan options. Their innovative chefs can do anything."

"We enjoyed a business meeting dinner. Wonderful how you pick 2 or 3 entrees to share together over the 4 to 5 course meal. Highly recommend saving room for dessert!!!Plus having valet parking in the downtown makes it a hassle free parking experience."

"Our meal was very good. My wife and I chose Zins as a date night dinner - we have a 15 month old and one on the way, on a recommendation from Grandma. The staff was very friendly and explained the menu and meal process to us. We both enjoyed the evening and liked the presentation and taste of all the foods, we are both Food & Beverage Mangers at a Private Country Club and realize how important those things are. Although we did not order any wine, the list looked like it encompassed many regions and would meet the likes of most people. We would not hesitate to recommend Zins, or go back again."

"It was our first time and we thought it excellent. We enjoyed everything about Zin`s from the time we walked into the door and the time we left. Everyone was plesent, outstanding and very helpful with our menu selections. It was great to see the kitchen area with an open window, it was a truely great unique experence, we will certainly recomend Zin`s to everyone. I am truely looking forward to returning again very soon."

"The menu was promising, the decor was lovely but the evening was very disappointing. Our waitress was very untrained. She took was slow to take our drink order and never brought our party enough wine glasses. The restaurant was out of several items on the menu early on a Saturday evening. The food we did get was mediocre with the exception of the sweet potato gnocchi. We did not consider any desserts since our experience was already so poor."

"Many unique and varied 'small plate' options. Also, a special pre-theatre menu. Setting is upscale but comfortable. If you need quicker service they are happy to accomodate but there is no effort to rush you if you prefer a more relaxed and leisurely experience. Staff is attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. The owner is almost always there to make sure things run smoothly. Good variety of drink options. Many wines by the glass and an affordable wine list."

"The host was very nice and valet parking was essential. After a10 minute wait our waitress brought water anda small amount of bread andoil. We then did not see our waitress for at least a half an hour, no exaggeration. She took our order and the food came out in an appropriate time. The appetizers we ordered were the wings.. cooked very nicely but very little sauce and NO seasoning. Move on to main course and the same, food cooked nicely but NO FLAVOR!! Save your time and money! Also atmosphere VERY pretentious!"
