Sakoon invites you to embark on an extraordinary culinary journey of India.
Nestled in downtown Mountain View, Sakoon offers diners a tantalizing blend of traditional and contemporary flavors representing multiple Indian regions. Our chefs have created dishes that borrow from the past, yet are reinvented anew with vibrancy and modern flair.
Named for the Indian word for "peace," Sakoon was designed to envelop diners in warmth and serenity. Upon entering the restaurant, you'll be greeted by the image of Buddha in hand-carved wooden panels, the glow from fiber-optic chandeliers, and the shimmer of a waterfall cascading into a pool of lotus petals.
We invite you to join us for an exquisite dining experience.

"Very unorganized. Buffet Lines were getting out of hand - manager was rude and was shouting at customers for creating a line. This has been one of the restaurants I look forward to going - but last weeks experience killed it. Food was OK - not that great."

"The lunch buffet was great - very good selection of food and all very tasty. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice and service is good. The selection is a bit different than most other Indian buffets - more choices and different menu items."

"It sure seems real when most of the customers look and sound like the staff and the menu needs explanation to the uninitiated. (Its a curry then? it doesn't say curry.) Host tried to park us in hallway when better tables were open, and waiter sure tried to sell, but hold your own and its great food, good service - easy to find a waiter. Most important, that really good Indian food."

"Good Food in the Downtown Area of Mountain View. Make sure you get your parking at the parking complex since street parking is almost impossible. Must go for the lunch."

"First time for lunch buffet after two excellent dinners over the past year or so. No disappointment yet, but the lunch scene is busy and somewhat noisy--unlike dinner. The food is great, lunch or dinner, and the buffet choices were incredibly varied and delicious."

"Food is absolutely excellent. Noise level is awful. Some of the seating is very very poor (I'm short and when I sit in their booth I drop down to where my chin is so close to the table top that it is quite awkward to eat and I look up over a foot at normal ht. friends who got lucky & got a chair, so I try to avoid ever being seated in a booth, but the noise problem seems even worse at tables that are spaced very close together and put noise on more sides, making conversation very difficult. This was the first time the service was extremely slow even though we were the first group to arrive and had a reservation. I almost got up and went looking for a waiter to ask if our order had actually reached the kitchen staff."

"We were here with a reservation and they had us wait over 45mins to get us a seat because they overdid the reservations. They did not apologize but in tun were rude when we asked how long it would take. Let's move on to the food.
We ordered the Phuldari Kofta and the Mirch Baigan Ka Salan. This Phuldari Kofta had uncooked pieces of Kofta and had a very bad taste- basically it was just plain bad. The bread was good, so was the Mirch Baigan Ka Salan.
Overall this is probably the 10th time I've been to this place and probably the last time too. What a waste of $80!"

"I enjoyed Sakoon. It was good to see Indian food elevated to cuisine. My wife and I went for dinner. It was her first exposure to Indian and I wanted to be a good experience. She was delighted! The only issue I have is service. It was a bit slow. We had to ask twice for a glass of ice. A cocktail glass sat in the edge of the table, unrecoverable, for the entire meal. These are minor issues. I mention them to explain the 3 star rating for service. All in all a great meal and a good experience! We will be going back!"

"This is one of he better Indian Restaurants on the Peninsula. Food, Service and Ambiance are great and we always have a good time.
They have a decent wine list and a full bar that can create decent cocktails.
Their Lunch buffet has good appetizers, chicken, fish and lamb dishes and many vegetarian dishes and desert.
Last time we went for dinner and had the paneer and chicken wings for appetizers - the paneer was better than the wings. We had butter chicken, Saag Lamb and Daal Makhani - everything was well made and tasty. We were full and passed on desert. The chai was good.
Recommended."

"The biryannis are especially wonderful. With a crust that steams the entire dish to perfection. The samosa were also a treat and the wine list was more extensive than is typical for an Indian Restaurant. Can't wait to go back!"

"We went to Sakoon last week and had a horrible experience. When we were seated, it took them 15mins to even come and get our drinks order. We ordered our food and waited for the appetizers forever! The food is ok, nothing to die for, there is better food and service elsewhere in the bay area.
We were told that it was a busy night and that our order was in front of a "big table". When our food arrived we were asked if it was "worth your wait", absolutely horrendous management and staff.
They did come and apologize, but none of it was genuine. When the check came, they had added an extra item that had not ordered. I have no idea what kind of a business these people are running."
